***The Official NYU Class of 2020 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

Do they send this to all the people that are waitlisted?

"Your academic record and personal interview with our faculty has met with positive results. Yet, due to the high number of competitive applications received this year, the Admissions Committee has placed you on the waitlist for the 2016 academic year."
Yes

Withdrew interview spot for 12/14/15! Hope someone here gets it!!

I have an interview at NYU next week and was wondering... should I email my interviewer and Dr. Mejia after the interview just saying how glad I was to get an interview invite and how much I would love to attend the school, etc? NYU is one of my top choices so I want to make sure I get in lol.

How fast does admissions committee make a decision after the interview?
My interview is post-Dec and I was wondering whether I am able to hear back before the end of December..
(So I can make a decision between other schools before putting down the deposit..)

My interview is next week and when I asked Dr. Mejia when I would be able to find out about my decision, she said either end of December or early January (because the offices will be closed for a couple of says at the end of December).

Oh.. Then I gotta pay deposit for other school.. I guess..

Have my interview set for next Friday! I was so excited to get the e-mail. 🙂

I took a cab to my interview in the morning to make sure I arrived on time (I stayed at a hotel in midtown) and then the bus and subway back to my hotel; I didn't wait long so I would say it's pretty reliable at least after the interview.

Mine was fast! Only after a day. It really depends on your interview.

I was told not to hear back until Dec 21th. Got accepted the next day...

Well I guess it all depends on how the interview goes! Obviously yours went very well and you heard back the very next day. I would like to hear back immediately after my interview too but at least I know the max date at which I can hear back from them.

Im waiting to get an email for background check. I filled out the stuff on AADSAS portal but still no email. Anyone else still not receive an email?

I didn't know that we have to do that now. Also I haven't received the package by mail so maybe that's why. However, when I looked at the background check request on aadsas, it doesn't show that NYU is a participating school. So maybe they have different process.

Hey guys,

did anyone get information about scholarships yet? I recieved my acceptance packet today, but nothing about scholarships.

Hey all,

For those who got waitlisted and sent an email to dr. Mejia, did she reply back or was my email lost in her inbox

Did they mention if you got a scholarship in the acceptance email?
I just looked this up on their website
Once we have your FAFSA information on file (we receive it from the federal processor), we usually begin packaging financial aid awards in late April or early May. Once your information is reviewed, we will send you a financial aid award letter via your NYU email that details the types and amounts of student aid for which you may be eligible.
Any idea of what criteria they give scholarships?

I believe financial aid awards are referring to loans you will get from the school (My undergrad calls loans financial aid award as well). The rest you will have to take out private loans etc. From posts on SDN in the past, they send out scholarship emails 2-3 weeks after December first by email. Scholarships are mostly merit based with some being need based I believe.

Anyone received their acceptance package this week? My mailing address is NY, still haven't see it today

I got mine on monday! In boston

Got a voicemail from NYU to watch out for an email coming...did anyone else get this call?? They didn't say if it was good or bad....

oh ok thanks! My undergrad called scholarships awards so that got me confused.
I'll probably be declining my acceptance soon to give someone the chance since I'm probably going BU if I don't get in my top school.

Hi everyone,

Congrats to those accepted and wishing the best to those applying currently and waiting to hear back!

So I am a current D1 student at NYU that lives roughly a 8-10 min walk from the school. My D1 roommate and I are looking to offer a space in our apartment in Stuyvesant Town for less than hotels in NYC. We have a futon that converts to a full-size bed in our living room and a curtain to allow for privacy. Having gone through the interview process not too long ago, we would be more than happy to give some tips and pointers, as well as walk you to the interview in the morning! Feel free to shoot me a message for more details!

Folks who are accepted, when's the deadline for your first deposit? Curious for us waitlisted people lol!

Hey! Congrats on everyone thats been accepted.
If we get a post Dec. interview, do you know how long it takes for NYU to get back to you?
Also, what was the supplemental application like? what questions

Thanks =)

I got accepted, and I'm from Canada. I did write a letter of interest to both the faculty interviewer and Eugenia Meijia a few days after my interview though, because I was worried that my distance might be a factor working against me.

NYU loves Canadians! A huge chunk of us (D1s) are from Canada, not me personally, I'm from a different ca, CA. I would say approximately 40-50 of the 387.

Congratulations on those who recently got accepted. If you're waitlisted, I say stay patient for other schools/top choices, if NYU is your top then write a sincere email to Dr Mejia expressing your interest and commitment to the school and you'll likely find yourself off that list and with an acceptance.

Also, as a D1, I'd like to share a few other things. I would say many of my peers I know interviewed and received acceptances after Dec 1, specifically post-January, so don't worry too much. A couple people I know received acceptances as late as a week before our orientation. Class size is HUGE, plenty of seats for everyone. For those on interview day who get to the study floor for the tour and see D1 faces in distress and disgust, don't be fooled, we love NYU, we just have an upcoming exam that's more important.

Feel free to message me for any info in the application process, interview tips, or D1 info, I'd be glad to help. I was a reapplicant, went to interviews at Maryland, Case, UCLA (top of the waitlist!! dang it!!), USC, and UNLV. Got accepted to UNLV (waitlisted til March), Case (waitlisted til May), and USC (May notification), but way after I was committed to NYU already (Dec 1). I'm an out of state, from California, part of the UC system.

My biggest advice to everyone is to just chill and relax. You've done everything you could possibly do to present yourself to your applied schools and it's all up to them. Enjoy your year (maybe your last undergrad year for some of you), your summer, your life (I went to Hawaii in May of matriculation 🙂 )

Good luck everyone!

Interviewed on Friday December 4th. Dr. Mejia said we should hear back the week after. I haven't gotten any word. Should I be worried?
