Congratulations on those who recently got accepted. If you're waitlisted, I say stay patient for other schools/top choices, if NYU is your top then write a sincere email to Dr Mejia expressing your interest and commitment to the school and you'll likely find yourself off that list and with an acceptance.
Also, as a D1, I'd like to share a few other things. I would say many of my peers I know interviewed and received acceptances after Dec 1, specifically post-January, so don't worry too much. A couple people I know received acceptances as late as a week before our orientation. Class size is HUGE, plenty of seats for everyone. For those on interview day who get to the study floor for the tour and see D1 faces in distress and disgust, don't be fooled, we love NYU, we just have an upcoming exam that's more important.
Feel free to message me for any info in the application process, interview tips, or D1 info, I'd be glad to help. I was a reapplicant, went to interviews at Maryland, Case, UCLA (top of the waitlist!! dang it!!), USC, and UNLV. Got accepted to UNLV (waitlisted til March), Case (waitlisted til May), and USC (May notification), but way after I was committed to NYU already (Dec 1). I'm an out of state, from California, part of the UC system.
My biggest advice to everyone is to just chill and relax. You've done everything you could possibly do to present yourself to your applied schools and it's all up to them. Enjoy your year (maybe your last undergrad year for some of you), your summer, your life (I went to Hawaii in May of matriculation 🙂 )
Good luck everyone!
