The Official Touro Class of 2020 Interview/Acceptance Thread

I'm assuming everyone who interviewed received one. It just states that they have been granted initial accreditation status and they're awaiting the final okay to release decisions. Did everyone's email state the following: "You are receiving this email, because you have interviewed at the school, and the admissions committee review of your application has shown that you are a strong candidate for a seat in our inaugural class."?

The email talked only about accreditation. It DID NOT SAY "You are receiving this email, because you have interviewed at the school, and the admissions committee review of your application has shown that you are a strong candidate for a seat in our inaugural class."?
 
Does anybody know what's going on with NY accreditation? xhmi3, do you mean NY state has approved? Thanks!

so ppl who got those email are accepted?
 
I dont think they would say that in the email.
I called the admission office couple days ago and he said nobody can find out about acceptances until mid April.
And in the email said that we will find out about the decision in coming weeks.
We all have 50 50 chance of acceptances

did you get that email? why did some people get favorable email hinting acceptance? just seems like they got their acceptance.
 
Whoever received the email stating that they are a strong candidate is probably going to recieve an acceptance down the line. That's kind of how it works, schools accept strong candidates.
 
Lets all just calm down guys. I think we're all assuming a lot. Everyone take a chill pill, everyone here is gonna be a dentist no matter what. Only a matter of time. Legit nothing is confirmed, maybe it was an accident they added or missed that tiny paragraph. Either way it wouldn't matter, if you're accepted you are. If not then you're not. There is no 50/50, that's like saying this entire process, your undergrad, extracurriculars, interview, dat, gpa, shadowing etc was all a coin toss so kami I'm sorry but I don't agree with that point. The email doesn't guarantee that they'll even be open. Just don't stress guys, theres no point. If any of us don't make the cut then just try again next time around

too late I'm stressed now. . . No way the sender forgot to write that . . . 2 ppl got the same message, and most of us did not ! there is only a select amount of seats
 
But there are still people interviewing. I would relax. I got an invite mid January but due to my schedule not interviewing until the match 28th. I know they had dates after that too. I would think they are interviewing a lot of people due to the late start.

If that email is some indication of acceptance or rejection than it would defeat the whole purpose of them making us wait until April for a decision.I emailed the admissions to find out how much weight that first paragraph of the accreditation email holds. But by no means do I think that if you didn't receive that little section does it mean that you're automatically not going to be accepted. If anyone has any further news or insight please keep us posted

And dentovermed could you please clarify how you confirmed that whoever recieved that section in their email is accepted and everyone who didn't isn't. That's a pretty bold statement and somehow I doubt the admissions department would grant you that kind of information.
 
We all know that we do not know anything!!! So, pls do not make some unreliable assumptions...there is honestly no point in doing so! Start working on your next year's application if you have a lot of spare time!🙂

Do not worry about anything ... You can get upset if you get a rejection from a dental school, but not from your own assumptions! I am super positive that was just a technical problem! 🙂

I emailed James Demaio about this and hopefully he'll respond to me by tomorrow.
 
I'm sorry to have sparked so much concern. I was just curious if it was a personal email or one sent to the applicant pool. Regardless, I agree with those that urge everyone not to stress. There are far too many uncertainties to make any rational claims so save yourself the headache and hang on to hope like you have been. While I do believe they've begun making decisions, they obviously cannot release them and the process is not over yet. In fact, it barely has started. Hang in there, people. Remember that not everyone who is offered a seat will accept it. Best wishes to you all🙂

Accreditation is a multi-step process. Touro is awaiting the final okay for their final accreditation step, which they say should be complete within the next few weeks. In other words, there are various third-parties that need to grant approval for this institution to become active. They're waiting on one last third-party (the State) to give them a green light to start releasing decisions. The State has visited the site and Touro is essentially awaiting their feedback (hopefully an approval) before they're completely accredited. Hope that all makes sense!

Still no answer from admissions about the confusion regarding the email. I don't think they answer emails over the weekend, so I'm hoping to hear from them on Monday. I'll let you guys know what they say.in the meantime if anyone has any insight or info please let us know

I don't mean to be cliche but honestly, know your story and how to tell it really well. There aren't any surprises. Just be you. Best of luck to you!
 
My interviewer asked me abs nothing personal. Stuck solely to my application.seems like he went through it inside out.
 
Interviewed this past Wednesday. The actual building is pretty cool architecturally, so I bet it'll be awesome once the facilities are completely finished. Overall, I got a very friendly and motivated vibe from the admissions staff, they seem very optimistic about accreditation, saying, "it would be very unusual to pass CODA and not get state approval". So fingers crossed it works out! They told me they're interviewing about 500 people and they should have results about accreditation in late April/early May. I also received the email about the accreditation with the part about being a strong candidate for the inaugural class. I'm skeptic that this implies admission though so I guess only time will tell.

(Btw, this is my first ever SDN post after months of just creeping :claps:)

Any idea how many applicants there were
 
2300 applications were submitted over the 3 week

I had my interview pretty early back in mid Feb. They were conducting interviews one group per day prior to mine but now 2 groups per day. So I would say ~ 700-1000?

As of last Wednesday when I interviewed, we were told they received about 2600 applications and would be interviewing about 500
