I decided to start an OFFICIAL thread for UCLA hopefuls :>

As everyone knows, nobody will hear anything until after January 15, probably much later...

If any UCLA applicants hear, know, or have strong reason to believe anything at all about the app process, post it here!!! :> Or, just use this thread to share in each others' misery...

GOOD LUCK VIBES!!!

...also to start off, I interviewed on 12/14, is it possible to predict when I'll hear something? ^^ lol. *anxious*

I'm hoping against hope though, since I didn't do too great on my interview. 🙁

What do you mean, Tako? What about it was not "too great?" Always curious about how pp judge their interviews (I found it somewhat difficult to judge - who knows what they are looking for, etc)

I'm sure it went better than you thought! GL!

Interview: In the mail perhaps?

I too check my status page 10x/day and have made UCLA my tied-for-first-place school.

I 😍 the bruins!

don't lose hope folks. i was complete mid-September and my status page showed an invite to interview on 1/3/07. perhaps there is still good news to come. i think i was stuck with an insanely slow reviewer. it also took me 10 weeks to get a secondary from UCLA.

p.s. don't drive yourself crazy by checking the status page. it's updated once a week (i think on wed or tues).

does anyone know how big of a factor the interview is?

also, anyone the percentages of interviewees that get accepted, waitlisted, hold, rejected?

I hope I hear back from UCLA with good news, it would end this process for me 😍

LOL!!! You are not alone...

In answer to your other question, I actually got a phone call from Ms. Deanna Moon on my cell, and she let me schedule it on the phone, so I don't know how long it'll take them snail mail. HOWEVER I would follow up as politely as possible to make sure they got the form... for one of my other universities, my interview snail mail form was LOST in the mail (or somehow just didn't get to them), and they sent me an email telling me my application was going to be withdrawn if I didn't reply in three days. AHHH!!! I was so pissed because it made me look uninterested 🙁 Granted, I sent it normal 3rd class mail instead of Priority, so I think you have less to worry about, but I would still politely follow up, especially if it is #1 for you :>

UCLA is my first choice school so I was already pretty nervous in the days leading up to the interview. Even though I've lived in LA County for so long, it was my first time going to the UCLA campus and I got slightly lost. Combine that with the traffic and I ended up being delayed about half an hour getting to the campus. Luckily I had left early so I still made it to the interview office slightly before the appointed time of 10:15 AM. I was expecting an afternoon interview, but when I got to the office, they told me that my interview would be in 15 minutes :scared:.

My interviewer was delayed for half an hour so I was just waiting there in the office by myself getting my nerves rattled. I didn't feel the admissions staff was particularly welcoming. There was one lady present and after she gave me a small packet of information, she went back to work in the office. I saw no sign of other interviewees and generally wasn't getting a good vibe sitting there by myself.

My actual interviewer himself was a very nice guy, but I wasn't feeling very comfortable and I think that showed in the interview. I stammered through my answers and didn't really present myself in the best light. I felt really in the pits after that interview, that's for sure. So don't worry, potential interviewees. My nerves just got the better of me so it was my own fault. It's not like UCLA threw a bonehead interviewer at me or anything 😉

in love with UCLA!😍
interviewed late december.

my secondary was complete for over FOUR months before i got that wonderful phone call. the lady scheduling did mention that there were still open interview spots for january. so for those of you still waiting, don't give up.

When did she actually call you to schedule your interview? Late November or early December?

Support group... I like that! (and need that).

God, I wish this waiting game would be over 😕 . I need to know where my family and I will live in the next four years, so we can find a place to live in, sign up for preschools for my child, and make career decisions for my husband. It's like my whole life is on hold...

Please UCLA, take me, it would make soooo happy.... 😍 I doubt I will be part of the first batch, but please make it soon, and please, not a waitlist 😱

Sending the group a lot of positive acceptance energy directly from UCLA :luck:

I hear ya! I, too, am just holding out for the results of a few interviews, including UCLA, after which my husband & I can look at moving, potential job change for him, etc. We both cannot wait to have some solid plan, which is why I fear the waitlist. I just keep hoping for some positive news from UCLA!

Best of Luck to Everyone who is Waiting to Hear from UCLA!!! :luck:

:luck: 😍 ucla 😍 :luck:

Life's a lot more complicated with a family, eh?

Good luck to you, too. And to me, too. Even though then I'd have to decide between UCLA and Davis, which would make me sad.

UCLA 😍

UCLA 😍

Yes, life's more complicated that way, but in other ways I find it to be more solid/stable which will hopefully make med school a teeny tiny bit easier (i.e. I won't be looking for romance/dating/etc when in med school - I'll just be maintaining my relationship).

Best of luck to you with UCLA - honestly, I, too, hope to be blessed enough to have to decide between UCLA and others 🙂 A tough place to be in, but a fortunate one at that

GL to us ALL! :luck:

Hey everyone! I too am waiting for UCLA. It's my first choice so it makes this waiting really really nerve wrecking.

I interviewed at UCLA on 12/8 but I dont know if that's late or early in the game. When did you guys interviewed?

Has anyone actually been rejected from UCLA yet? I was done in early September and still havent heard back one way or the other. Good luck to everybody who applied.

I think they started early Oct or Late Sept. But they continue through March (?), so I'd guess that your early-mid?

CONGRATS on the interview and BEST OF LUCK!

Here's to some good news from UCLA for us ALL! :luck: 😍 ucla 😍 :luck:

I agree with swtiepie711. While having a family "complicates" things, having one also removes doubts such as: "what if a few years from now, I find out that can't handle/don't want to handle motherhood and a demanding career?...".

Besides, having someone to pay the bills isn't that bad 😉

Good Luck!!! 👍

I interviewed 9/26, and had a really really bad interview experience... it really sucks because UCLA is for sure one of my top choices. Here's hoping that I'll be surprised when Jan 15 comes around 🙂

Also, does anyone know if we are being notified via email, snail mail, or phone calls? Thanks!

I heard it's through snail mail...small envelope. = /

So can anyone confirm that UCLA says the letters are going out? (curious to see if this will be a repeat of last year's experience, w/ first acceptances near the end of Feb).

:luck: GL TO ALL WAITING!

😍 ucla 😍

There's word that it will be much sooner this year, but can someone check? Someone who can probably visit the office is better...

Gawwd!! This upcoming week is going to be hell for everyone.

SOOOOO NERVOUS...:scared: 😱

According to the Wall of Shame - no one has been rejected from UCLA yet... no one accepted either... anyone know when they're getting around to making people's dreams come true?

LOL!! "but not really"... so true!! UCLAstudent seems to be always here for us :>

ARGHHHH i feel like i can't hold out much longer... without at least ONE update... (probably will have to anyway...)

I think about 600 ppl are interviewed and 300 are accepted and 150 matriculate. THOUSANDS apply! I would call them to show you are interested...its UC regents and they can be unorganized. Always show your interest. I am an annoying sob...and my interview is next week...haha! Philosophy...fight for what you want!

Good luck!
😉

Ooo.... if those numbers are true, they're quite nice... 1 in 2 chance...

Ooo.... if those numbers are true, they're quite nice... 1 in 2 chance...

Those numbers are nice --- but a little off. The class size is 121, not 150. Here are the 2004 stats:

5137 applied
728 interviewed
238 accepted
121 enrolled

Last year, more applied and fewer were interviewed.

I am now officially joining...with next week looming...and decisions (yikes)! UCLA rocks and I hope to get some SoCAl love 😍

Good Luck to all :luck:

hey everybody. i went in to admissions yesterday and one of the officers told me that final decisions won't be mailed out until the end of month. so it looks like there will be a slight delay.

patience : )
