UNC doesn't send confirmation emails. I applied to UNC the past 2 years and both years, the first email I received from them was the interview invitation in August for the September interview. They send it about 3 weeks in advance. Last year, I received it on August 14th for a Sept. 8th interview. Their first scheduled interview date this year is September 14th. That means they should send invites around August 20th. They will invite approximately 60 students for this first date. As for checking your status, I guess you could call them. Hope that helps!

I e-mailed them a few weeks ago about my status and just got back a, "Yes, we have received your application."

Why don't you just call? It can't hurt anything. 🙂

I didn't want to bother them cuz they get thousands of apps but you know what, I'm a big boy and I'm going to do it all by my self 😀

LOL! I totally understand on the "not wanting to bother them" thing. I've worried about it myself However, everyone I've contacted from the schools I have applied to has been fairly receptive and quick to reply. (ECU was especially nice, LOL!) I'm sure they won't mind a quick little question.

Just got an e-mail from Mrs. Oakes - she's the s h i t - your application is complete and under review. You should be able to check this status in your applicants portal.

What portal is she talking about? The AADSAS portal under school decisions - cuz that thing has never been updated lol
 
My "school decisions" portal isn't updated, either.

Ask her! 😀

Mine hasn't updated either for any school. Cool, did you just send an email to Ms. Oakes? I might do the same just to make absolutely sure they have everything.
 
Im pretty sure AADSAS has to open the decisions portal bc no ones has shown anything. I think thats what I read in a previous thread 🙂 so even if the school updates our status it wont show until AADSAS opens it!

I wonder why in the world it isn't open. First batch was sent out over a month ago.

I know! Esp. with invites going out. It sounds as if some schools are updating it... we just can't see!

So for schools like VCU ( they make it clear not to call them or e-mail them- just check AADSAS) who only send updates through AADSAS what the H E LL are we supposed to do ?😕

I think everyone just has to step back and take a breath. It's still very, very early. If all of your stuff is in, there's nothing more to do but sit back and wait with high hopes. The interviews will start flooding in soon I'm sure, don't stress too much about it now, we have at least 4 years of that coming up (hopefully)!

Yep! As long as its up by december we are good 🙂 you will know you have an interview via email before you see it on aadsas portal (generally)

"Your application is currently in the process of being reviewed. It will proceed through a multileveled review in which we consider such factors as your GPA, academic history, DAT scores, letters of evaluation/recommendation, investigation in the field of dentistry and all other factors presented in your application.

If you should have concerns or question about the DDS Admissions process at UNC-Ch School of Dentistry please contact Carolyn Oakes at [email protected]."

Glad to finally hear from UNC!

Same... at least they know we exist that's comforting right?
 
haha same. It's funny because I actually sent an email to Ms. Oakes last night asking if my app was complete, so I received that generic email and another email directly from her at the same time. I don't remember them sending an app complete/under review email last year or the year before, so it's nice to know that they are keeping their applicants from going crazy this year.
 
Hopefully, just a few more weeks until interview invites are sent out! 🙂

I got this feelin' that next week is our week. According to last year's thread, UNC's first invites were sent out on August 14th. That was a Tuesday.

So, I've got my hopes up for the 13th! 😀 :hardy:

i would think interviews would go out next week. isnt it usually 3 weeks before?
 
They sent out interviews on the 14th last year, and I believe the first interview date was Sept. 8th. You're probably right. 🙂 A whole month would be nice, though, especially for people who have to fly in!
 
I know class of 2017 started orientation today so I bet they are staying busy with that if there are any changes

this is 4 weeks before the interview. they usually do it ~3 weeks. so i would wait another week.

im sure someone would have gotten an invite if they were sent out yesterday and would have posted up.

Received interview for Sep. 14th too. I'm from PA.

I got an email invite as well but I'm in state. I think they might be taking their time - you shouldn't worry too much Glimmer!

I was 3rd batch and received 'under review' email 08/01/13.
 
Just received an interview invite about an hour ago! So pumped! I am in state as well.
