Are we pretty confident that all offers have been issued? UNC is supposed to fill its class today right?

yeah, i think it was on the FB page that they filled it.
everyone else will be reviewed once people drop their seat

Hello everyone! I bet you are all nervous and excited about tomorrow, waiting to hear from UNC for the first round of acceptances. Good luck to you all and congratulations in advance to everyone who receives a phone call!! I am a current dental student in the UNC Class of 2022 and a member of our class executive board. We have put together a Facebook page for accepted students in the Class of 2023. If you receive an acceptance and choose to attend UNC, you should definitely request to join the Facebook group to start meeting your future classmates and stay up-to-date on all things UNC. Once you find out your acceptance status you can DM for more info. (Though I may not respond right away, we are in the midst of finals week). Good luck again, and we look forward to meeting the Class of 2023!!

Can’t DM you. But what is the FB group name??

Oh I was talking about official class group page for accepted UNC students, I want to see how many ppl are in that.

I think quite a few members of the FB group are current students, so keep in mind that might not be an accurate number.

How did you know if you were on a waitlist last yr? Do they have ranking for the waitlist?

They sent me a letter around mid to late December I think, asking if I wanted to accept a spot on the waitlist. So keep an eye on your mail boxes!! Neither me nor anyone else who got waitlisted last year got an email - all of us had snail mail waitlist offers.

Are there any students that can answer this question for me... I was offered a scholarship that would basically put me down to in-state tuition for the 4 years. My question is, will I be granted in-state tuition after the first year plus the scholarship? Or will the scholarship prevent me from getting the in-state status? Thank you!

You can definitely still get in-state tuition after the first year, and it is encouraged to do so (assuming you fulfill the requirements for residency). The only thing is the scholarship amount is reduced commensurate to the tuition decrease the following years. The scholarship letter you receive soon should explain all of the details.

I'm an OOS that got accepted on Dec 3rd but was not told about any scholarships. Is there still a chance that I get a scholarship before I make a deposit, or all scholarships were sent out on Dec 3rd.

Is there graduate housing available at UNC for Dental Students? And does anyone know how much would rent be around campus on average?

I would suggest asking that question on the FB page! You should be able to get a solid response there. There is graduate housing available, but a lot of dental students will use the FB page to find roommates, housing, etc. Most students live pretty close to the school, and the Chapel Hill transit system is free, so many take advantage of that.

Where did you all learn about scholarships received, if any?

As a data point, I have not received an acceptance packet yet and I'm a NC resident. Are they sending it via USPS?

I have not received anything either. Also a NC resident

Updated data point: Received the acceptance packet today. It doesn't show up under USPS Informed Delivery since it's a large envelope.

Hey all, congrats again to everyone who was accepted!! And if you are still waiting to hear back from schools have faith! It will all work out in the end. There have been people accepted to UNC in past cycles several months after December. As for Admissions Packets and your summer info packets, fair warning UNC is slow to mail things out. Last year it took a few weeks for some people to get their admissions packet and they were SUPER late mailing out the summer packet. But don't worry. You'll get it eventually. We will in time send a scanned copy of last year's packet to you guys so you can get a head start on the summer stuff. Our class of 2022 had to summer read a book, not sure if they are doing that again this year or if you'll read the same/or a different book. But most of this stuff won't be required to be completed until August 2019. If you have any question feel free to reach out. I think I changed my SDN privacy settings so all members should be able to DM me. If you still need the link to the official UNC class of 2023 Facebook page shoot me a message and I'll send you the link!

I think I remember from interview day that one of the students giving us the tour said that UNC has a service that schedules your clinic patients for you, saving you the hassle of having to find them. Can anyone confirm this?

Your patients get automatically assigned to you (so you don't have to find them), but you have to schedule them yourself. It's literally just calling them or doing it at the appointment and getting it set up in a calendar. Not too hard.

Does anyone know when people usually start getting pulled from the waitlist?

It could be any time between January and the first week of school in August. (UNC is now closed for the holidays). All of the seats have been given out so it depends on where people accept a seat if they received multiple offers from other schools. A few years ago a student dropped out during the first week of class and someone on the wait list was accepted after school had already started.

I just got waitlisted. Do they waitlist most of the interviewees that weren't accepted or just a small number? Thanks!

holy smokes. are you two out-of-state? 24AA scores getting waitlisted sounds crazy! i was upset about not getting an interview at UNC after an early app with a 3.72 oGPA and 22AA 21TS but im in-state..

I interviewed in October (OOS) and felt like it went really well.

If my AADSAS status still says "App Complete" should I assume I'm rejected??
