*** The Official UoP School of Dentistry Class of 2023* Interview/Acceptance Thread ***

Hi! Yes, I spoke with them and they said we should hear back soon. Their office has been short staffed and people have been in and our so they are a little behind. Hopefully we will all get a call soon!
Oh nice, thanks for the info! I hope we all get calls soon too!

Is UOP still inviting students for interviews in March and April?? Has anyone been invited after Feb 13th?? Or has interview spots been filled up already??

Anyone else hear back yet?

Does anyone know what the deal is with the waitlist?

Likely? Unlikely?

Wait until summer?
Were you wait listed? When did you interview and hear back?

Stan said on 2/27 interview day that if you get waitlisted to just hang tight. You could be waiting up until the start of school if students who accepted already don't drop their seats. He said you may be invited to attend the first week of class in case a seat opens up after the first week. Honestly just sounds like a luck and waiting game.

2/24. Does everyone get waitlisted?

Anyone if theyre still interviewing? or Did corona just stop everything and now theyll just fill their class with whatever waitlists they already had rather than interview new prospects?

they said they are rescheduling the early April interviews. I hope the shelter in place is lifted timely enough for that to still happen tho!

hey guys, question for the ppl who put deposits down at multiple places including dugoni.. Did dugoni contact you with a deadline to make a final decision?

Congratulations! Are you planning on accepting the offer?
Thanks! I'm undecided at the moment... I could see myself at either UOP or my state school, so I'm definitely using the next two weeks to figure this one out :dead:

Choose your state school 😉 What was the method of notification?

Hey everyone I had a couple questions. I recently interviewed and was put on the waitlist in January and was not sure how everything worked. So I have a few questions:

1. They say you're in a good position on the waitlist but I feel like they put everyone on there if they don't accept you post-interview, is that true?
2. Is the waitlist ranked?
3. Has anyone heard back or know anyone that has been accepted from the waitlist this year?

Thank you in advance!

Hey guys I was a bit confused about what an alternate position is vs. waitlist position. Are they different? Someone I know is waitlisted while someone else is Alternate

My interview cohort was told that if we end up on the waitlist, we may have to wait until the first week of school. On top of that, if a seat doesn't become available, we may be offered a seat for class of 2024. This was in February. There were still plenty of interview dates after us. At this point, I'm very doubtful of good news.

From what I've heard/read, about a third of the waitlist sometimes gets admitted, just depends on how the seats move each year. I believe they usually will tell you what percentile range you are in if you are on the waitlist. I think it is ranked but they don't give you your specific ranking.

Spoke with admissions and the class is full - all seats taken and submitted deposits, now we just wait for someone to give up their seat that they already put money down on. I've read that between 1/3 and 2/3 come off the waitlist but I have no idea where this statistic is coming from and if there is any credibility to it - admissions said they cannot say because everything changes from year to year so it could be 2/3 or could be that no one gets taken from the waitlist, typical beat-around-the-bush response.

Thanks for letting us know. This is a bit discouraging. Good luck to everyone and I hope you are all safe ~~

Do they let us know which quartile we are in if we're on the waitlist/alternate list? Also is there a difference between waitlist or alternate?

Hello, I will be interviewing at UOP next week remotely. I know that they are interviewing to waitlist but can anyone provide me with insight on how the interview is?

Did you find out if there is a difference between the two? Last month, I got an email saying that I was on the waitlist. Now I got another email saying that I'm on the alternate list.

Congratulations!! Just curious- which school did you decide on and why?

Got the acceptance call and have one week to make a decision!! I was on the waitlist then moved to alternate list before getting accepted.
Saw on your post from earlier that you moved from the waitlist to alternate last month or so. Congrats! When did you get the call?

Hey congrats on the multiple choices, what a happy dilemma! I'm trying to gain acceptance from the alternate list but am not sure how to navigate though admissions/ make it clear to them that not only would I come but I would be a great fit. Do you have any tips, did you call in, were you ever able to contact Stan? PM me if that's more comfortable for you, but I could really use any advice/help, thanks in advance!

Hey did any alternates receive an email from admissions for a virtual meeting to discuss our alternate position??

Yes, the meeting dates are quite close to the class start date which seems a little odd.
