This week's 24 was better than last week's. 👍

I guess I just love the gun battles.

I matched despite my best efforts to screw it up (failed CS first time).

Keep your heads up and Good Luck with the scramble tomorrow.

Man...I matched but this day has been far from happy. I wish all of you that have to scramble the best. It has been a very humbling day finding out that some of my closest friends have to scramble as well. Good luck everyone. 🙁

Congrats, man!

I better see you up at school on match day! Ill be looking for you! 😉

so are almond/peanut butter m&m's ........yummy!!!!

I don't think I'm ever going to like match day. And I've still got years to go.

no matter the quality of applicant the match is filled with uncertainty. Fetus wants to congratulate some of you guys and tell the 3 that I am super sorry for you and I have nothing but hope for you. this is an exceptionally tough yr. Best of luck!

Fetus.:luck:

Medicine call. painful.. its 245 am and im still up. these guys dont know how to tie up these patients at all. Im writing fluid orders for pre-op pts, pain orders for people s/p procedures. I mean WTF shouldnt they do this?

Oh, and one thing to add. I told ST this, but the rest of you should be reminded as well.

Not matching is NO REFLECTION on you as a person or as a future doctor. DO NOT let self-doubt take over - you ALL WILL BE AWESOME EM DOCS. More hugs to all y'all.

This is exactly what I've been trying to stress to my friends who didn't match. 👍 Good luck to you that have to scramble today. :luck:

It's going to be a long day, but hopefully I'll find something. Wish me luck.

Sitting in the Dean's office now. I may be able to tell everyone the outcome tonight, or I may not. I'll keep you all posted.

Beers tonight, definitely.

Oh, and if I have to do this again next year, all of you better beware if you interview with me. Strangely, everyone's suits will be dirty, all tires will be slashed, etc.

Well said. Even though I matched, I'm really starting to question this process. People I met on interviews who seemed like great people didn't match, and someone I thought was super bright on an away rotation didn't match into EM. Good luck again everyone. :luck:

Hey now, I'm not super bright. Obviously. Of course, you probably aren't talking about me, in which case, the other guy probably is super bright.

I hate the couple's match.

I was mentioning you. Ok, maybe not super bright I guess, but certainly worthy of matching. Couples matching is tough, I hope it works out. :luck:

I have a spot. It's a prelim surgery spot at my home program, but they're really, really good to me here. It's not what I want, it's not where I want, but it's a spot and it's just for a year. And I'll learn a hell of a lot.

I absolutely admire your attitude! Way to go!

👍 Keep up that positive attitude. You will learn a lot, and you'll be an awesome Emergency Physician.

I called them, and they filled before I could talk to them.

Did all the EM spots fill already? Did your SO scramble somewhere? If so, what are the prelim spots like around her program?

I got a prelim surgery year as well.

I found out where 50% of the open EM spots were...but if i disclose is that a violation of my match agreement?

Did somebody get these spots yet? The two spots at Maimonides Medical Center that came up after the match are filled per their emails to their distribution list.

I am happy to hear that you (ST and ninja) both at least know where you are going next year, even if it wasn't the original plan. Hopefully it all turns out for the best. :luck:

IS IT THURSDAY YET? K'MMMON ALREADY 😡

Congrats to Ninja and ST for managing to get spots for next year. I'm sure you two will be more determined now than ever.

I got to see the scramble up close today as I was helping a really good friend of mine. There were 10 of us there calling, emailing, etc. He had to rush out for an interview so we still don't know what the results are. It is a terrifying process, and one I wish upon no one.

ST, McNinja, nocall,

This damn match deal, in any case, prelim surg too...Hershey. At least the wife will get chocolate for a year while I reapply. Congrats on the successful scramble. Here's hoping that next year will be a little more fruitful.

Not a bad state, but not as good as some. How did your SO fare in the madness?

Shes at ECU. I tried to get their EM/IM spot, but failed 🙁
They offered me Peds, and Med/Peds, but I didn't want to do either of those residencies. If I had been able to, I would have gone for their prelim surgery spot as well. Oh well, there is always next year.

Best part of next year, I can pre-match. If they'll let me.

Alright, some stunning numbers from the match this year for our school.

We have 51 people. 10 had to scramble, although one was for only a prelim as they matched categorical.
So we scrambled close to 20% of our class. I think they decided against my school this year.

Spartanburg. I looked into FM at MUSC, but didn't want to mess up any programs, and didn't want to commit for more than a year.

Congrats ST and Ninja. I, however, am still searching...

****ty, that's all I have to say!

I'm not going to mention numbers just yet, but I know that our class took somewhat of a hit as well. It's a very odd year.
