Someone said something about the 11th too I believe. There may be some people who decline their interviews and stuff so they still may send some more out. If utmb would send me an acceptance before the 7th I'd happily send my invite to you cyclingmo 🙂
 
So, did some of you get the TMDSAS e-mail today from Budge Mabry? I believe it's for students with multiple pre-match offers.

There were some odd things about this e-mail, such as weird copy/pasting issues. Several sentences were completely in the wrong spot. Also some spelling errors. Haha. At least something was going on over at TMDSAS today.

Congrats to all of you who just got interviews at UTH! GOOD LUCK!

Edit: I don't think you do. This is a VERY interesting document from TMDSAS. And I don't know if this every got clarified, but this document also says schools do NOT know how applicants rank.

Hey all! HAPPY NEW YEAR! I'm sittin' here watching some college football... some good games on today!

Anyways, some of you might have already seen this, but UTHSCSA students made this funny video... I think they showed it at their Showcase Weekend. It is pretty entertaining, and might be somewhat helpful if anyone is thinking about UTHSCSA. I found it funny, and I look forward to joining their student body! Enjoy!

Won't it be great in a month when hopefully we all have good news! I have never wanted to be a month into a new year so quickly! I hope everyone has a pleasant month of waiting. I know my family is just going to love it!😀

Completely unrelated to the rest of the topics posted here, but does anyone know what the requirements are for maintaining grades for UTSW after getting an acceptance? Is it just C and above for all classes? Or is it something else? I'm not planning on failing classes, just want to know what the specific requirements are.

They keep it vague on purpose so that people don't totally slack in their last semester.

But realistically, try to avoid Cs.
 
It's two weeks until our preference lists are due, so let's get a discussion going.
1) Do you list the one school that you have been accepted to on the preference list at all? I mean, if you dont match into another school at all, will the acceptance still stand?
2) Here's one for more debate: If UTSW is your top choice, should you even list it as your number one choice, even though the class is likely already full from pre-match? The heart to my question is this: when considering your preference list, should it only be based upon your love for the school, or should you also consider the odds of you matching in?
For instance, I interviewed better at my second favorite school than my first. Should I try to match into the former school instead?

Yes, rank everywhere you interviewed. I know I've seen conflicting statments from TMDSAS about whether or not you should rank if you already have your 1st choice. My advice: just rank it, can't go wrong with that. And yes, your prematch offer will always be yours unless you match to a higher ranked school. I know some folks last year ended up with a "did not match" even though they had a prematch offer...some glitch in the system. Hopefully that's been fixed, but don't freak out...you always have your prematch, they can't take it away! 🙂

Rank according to preference! Trying to consider your odds will not help you, the system is designed so that you are matched to the highest ranked school you have been accepted to. Besides, you can never really judge an interview! For all you know, your second choice interview might have actually not gone as a well as your first. 😉

Here's my $.02:

1- You DO list the school that has given you an acceptance. Even people with multiple acceptances will only have one offer in hand by then, which they must list. Even if you rank your acceptance LAST, you're still guaranteed to have that seat even if no other school that you ranked higher matches to you.

2- You need to realized that how you rank your list will not affect your odds of acceptance. It's all about HOW MUCH THE SCHOOL WANTS YOU, thats it. So you must rank the schools in the order that you truly want, because even if that schools that really want you ends up being ranked at the bottom you'll match to that one. And hey, if a school that you rakned higher wants you as well, then you'll get matched to that.

I don't know how much sense that made, but basically forget everything else and rank them in YOUR favourite order.

This is the truth! I thought I did much worse at my TCOM interview as compared to the other two schools, and yet TCOM is the one that accepted me!

I ranked my schools yesterday, and it really helped clarify some things for me. There was another school that had been running a close second to TCOM. Having to actually rank the schools brought home for me that I didn't want any school to take away my TCOM acceptance...that I just wouldn't be as happy anywhere else. So, TCOM it is! I hope everyone gets their top choice as well.

I called SA today to see if I was on the final pre-match list. They told me to call back on Monday and that there will be one more batch going out on February 15th. Feb. 15th?! That's after the match. What the heck are they doing?

Are you sure they didn't mean January 15th? Even still that makes no sense. I think these schools must get together at least once a year to come up with ways to screw with our minds.

Now that prematch is over, I'll just resign myself to whatever happens in February. No more checking my status page at TCOM until 2/1. This is my New Year's resolution. 👍

So I went into town today, and guess what I bought myself as a late Christmas present (since the whole family tuned out my shameless hinting)? A Build-A-Bear Doctor Bear! Complete with scrubs, mask, hat, booties, and x-ray. I think I'm going to read my textbooks to him!

I guess I used up all of my maturity during interviews. 😳

I have one too!!! My friend gave me one for Xmas last year...except then I didn't get in. Haha. :laugh: It's super cute. 🙂

I'm surprised you still have it. I would've ripped its arms off and set it on fire after what happened last year. Not really, I just haven't said anything funny in a while and thought I'd give it a shot.

Thats awesome, I wonder if they make cycling bears with bikes, spare tubes, goo gels, .... I'll look into that. Beats doing nothing ..... 😳

Yeah, I just checked and mine says 010208

I keep seeing changes to my LMU, but I haven't heard from schools or made changes to my app in a long time. 😕

I remembered reading in the acceptance letter that admission is contingent upon completing pre-reqs, nothing about passing it with flying colors (ie A, B). Getting a C will definitely not screw up your chances.

Just pass your pre-reqs which I'm sure you've already done. 🙂

My LMU, RCW, and Validation date is 1/2/08. What is your validation date? I wonder if LMU changes when the file gets validated.
 
I just called San Antonio, and actually talked to Belinda.

She said yes, a few acceptances were offered on Monday, they were contacted by email.

There will be no more prematch offers.

They do not know how many slots they will have in the match, it depends on what people decide between now and January 15 (with pre-match offers to be declined). HOWEVER, THEY ANTICIPATE UP TO HALF THE CLASS WILL BE FILLED VIA THE MATCH!!!

They are actually still conducting interviews, and want those people to be able to participate.

There is still hope!🙂
