There will be no more prematch offers.

They do not know how many slots they will have in the match, it depends on what people decide between now and January 15 (with pre-match offers to be declined). HOWEVER, THEY ANTICIPATE UP TO HALF THE CLASS WILL BE FILLED VIA THE MATCH!!!

They are actually still conducting interviews, and want those people to be able to participate.

According to the dean of the med school and the student interviewer I had, either 1/2 or 1/3, respectively. So yes, there is still hope.

I just got my first (FIRST!) LMU yesterday. I had a Tech interview on the 19th. what do we think this means again?
 
I only had 2 LMUs ever, once was when I sent in some new grades in August, the other when I changed my address in December. None before or after any interviews. I dunno if LMUs really mean anything.

Of course I have no acceptances, so I dunno if a LMU correlates with an acceptance or something.
 
Has anybody sent transcripts for the Fall semester to TMDSAS yet? And for that matter has anybody sent them to any schools they have been accepted to?

haha I got one as well... it's name is Emdee (I know, I'm lame :laugh:). The lady who stuffed it made the legs look funny which I'm taking as a sign that I should be an orthopedic surgeon 😛

Quick question... so I'm OOS and figured I don't participate in the Match, but when I interviewed at UTMB, this 4th year that talked to me was also OOS and I remember him saying "Don't forget to rank UTMB in your match... lots of people forget". I really didn't think I had to do this... anyone want to correct me?
 
Anyone else feel totally helpless? I am waiting on the match with no pre-match offers and if Feb. 1st happened yesterday it would have been a few days late! Do you people holding pre-match offers that aren't your first choice feel the same way? Ahhhh... I HATE this process.

I'm with you. And I only had 2 interviews, which makes my chances feel even smaller.

Same here... and one of those was A&M which pretty much filled its class prematch. So riding on one interview, and not feeling so great about that one either. Everyone (who interviewd at UTH) and their mother is waiting for a Houston acceptance come match day (even some of those with prematch offers!).

I've resigned myself to taking the MCAT again, getting my PhD done (not procrastinating on SDN/TMDSAS anymore), volunteering some more and finding a real job that pays decently - and I will start all of this as soon as I stop procrastinating.

Procrastination for Cat = I'm a cool cat, they'll accept me... wait, there were so many well qualified people at my interview... my interviews didn't go so great... I bet I won't get accepted... I'm sure I won't get in... But I can't do this again next year, I just can't deal with the stress... I have to get in... I'm a cool cat, they'll accept me... wait, - over and over again!

Maybe I'll take a nap and dream about what I could have done differently during the application process. Then I can wake up depressed, get another cup of coffee, check SDN again to see who's responded since I last checked, and start the cycle all over again!!

I have to find a stopping point so I can stop procrastinating!! Besides, there's always a glimmer of hope for success during the match!

Darn optimist in me keeps rearing it's unrealistic head...

Not too many OOSers on here I guess. Does the TMDSAS site even let you rank, or is it closed off? I didn't think you guys had too, but you might just call or email them and get it from the horse's mouth. Oh, welcome back....saw the score, did ya'll have to destroy them so badly🙂?

Did Vandy admissions recommend this? Man, I wish you all the luck in the world. I hated taking that exam, and I wouldn't wish for anyone to retake it - but I guess a person's gotta do what a person's gotta do (me included - better check the test dates and get signed up!). I hope Vandy looks at this and lets you off that darn waitlist. You are persistent!! Knock the socks off that dang MCAT!!
 
I interviewed at UTMB in Sept and A&M in Dec. I suppose that I am riding on one acceptance as well if A&M is as good as filled. However, last year they filled quite a large portion from the match, or at least that is what Filo said at my interview.

they didn't directly recommend it, but during my interview the interviewer did question why I hadn't retaken the MCAT if I was trying to be competitive. so I'm going to do everything I can to get off this wait list, especially if I get into a Texas school.

thanks 🙂 I'm trying, but some of this gen chem is completely foreign to me! I haven't taken this course since spring 2003 😳

I totally feel the same way! And my LMU hasn't changed since July 07...no updates at all.... 🙁

What date in December did you interview at A&M?

On the 13th he said they were hoping to fill their class prematch and would end up (after the last prematch batch between 17th-21st) sending out about 3 times more offers than available spots during the prematch. Unless MORE than two thirds of people who received offers decline, there probably won't be any movement during the match. Last year was the first time TX schools had the option to send out prematch offers and even this year are still working out how best to fill their classes. Every school does it differently, I'm sure, so there's always a possibility that I am misunderstanding A&M's method. Filo said last year's class had 113 acceptances for 100 spots so they did not have to go to the alternate lists or match. Eventually, 10-12 people gave up their spots as other schools gave out more acceptances. He mentioned this during a tour he was giving me and one other person as we did not make to Temple in time for lunch because the other person's car had a flat tire.

Wow, reading what I just typed depressed me. And I really liked A&M too. I guess not all love affairs are meant to be... sigh...

Yuck... having to go back to refresh that can't be easy. Well it wasn't for me because the last time I had taken gen. chem. was 1998!! I feel your pain! Just remember, I have fewer brain cells since I am older and have probably consumed way more alcohol than you!! I think that should make you feel better... I hope, at least!

We have found out that LMU's mean nothing and everything. Hope that helps. :meanie:

No seriously, nobody know what the correlation is between LMU's and acceptances.

I really dont mean to... :beat:

but... no where in that letter does it clearly identify that it is a communication to ALL interviewed applicants.

So, I've gotta ask it again. Has anyone who interviewed at UTH not received the post interview letter or does anyone know anyone who hasn't received it?
 
lol, i do believe the note is sent to all interviewed applicants...the thing is that it is sometimes way after you interview there. i got mine 2 weeks after but some people have received them earlier.
 
1st - I received my UTH letter several weeks after my interview. Like 3.5 weeks later. I am sure that they make an effort to send them to everyone on a reasonable schedule.

2nd - I have had 3 LMU changes in the last 2.5 weeks, the last occuring yesterday. I did send in a transcript so that is probably the meaning of all the excitement.

3rd - Just knock me out until Feb. 1st. It is so much easier!
 
I interviewed at A&M on the 6th...maybe I didn't hear correctly, because what you are saying makes sense. That sucks.
 
Anyone here live in Austin? I'm bored out of my mind and all my friends are still at home in their respective cities.

Let's do something.

I tried just now and it let me... but I did read that it said OOSers weren't involved in the match... but that guy at UTMB just made it a point to be like oh yeah still remember to do this... who knows.

And of course we had to destroy them! :meanie:

I think someone else mentioned San Antonio sending out the last batch on Dec.31, well anyways I called San Antonio around 10 this morning and after being transferred back and forth like a million times I finally spoke to somebody and they said that they are already done with the pre match offers and were not planning to send anymore more out because it is past the deadline. She also said they sent out more than half of the class, but anticipate that only half the class will be filled by match day.

So four weeks to go until Feb 1st. But then again, who's counting the days? So let me ask this... Do we expect to hear from schools/TMDSAS at 12:01 a.m. on Friday February 1st? Also, do we wait for e-mails from schools or does something magically happen on the TMDSAS website?

Yeah, I know, worrying about something that's ages away and probably won't deal me good news anyhow!

Yes, you'll know at straight up midnight. The site will tell you if/where you've matched.

Awesome, thanks for clarifying that. I kept thinking it was 11 a.m. on Feb. 1st, but I think that the residency match that I was confused with.

Ralistically tho, after Jan 15th there will be nobody holding multiple acceptances and schools start settling their classes down, so has anyone ever had any luck calling a schools (or even TMDSAS) to squeeze some info out of them?

Never heard of that happening, but if you show up at the office with a bottle of wine, some flowers, and your Barry White cd, who knows what they'll whisper into your ear.

Just to add suspense, IIRC, there was a glitch on the TMDSAS site last year and a few people were able to know where they matched a day or two early.

Realistically, what are the chances of matching? Does it happen often or is it a rare occurance? I am the only person I know who has done this process and I really have no one to ask these kind of questions. (My family are educators and I went to school oos on athletic schol. so I am pretty much on my own) I have to say this web site has offered much more guidence than any advisor I had in college. Thank-you for posting all of the info you guys do!

Your chances depend on the schools you interviewed at and the percentage of the class that they have already filled. Not much else to it! I honestly thought I had a decent chance last year with 4 interviews but match was a no-go for me. It's a bit of a crapshoot, unfortunately. 😎

Aaah man, 4 Interviews and no match, that makes a cold chill run down my spine. :scared:

Called UTH this morning, they said that all Interview slots were filled, so that pretty much wraps all TX schools for me. This sucks ......... 🙁
