Thomas Jefferson

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i'm trying to do financial aid stuff and it directs me to a banner web login.

does anyone know how to get the ID? do i have to wait until they email me something, or is it supposed to be the same one that they sent for the supp app?

and on that note.. i sent in my deposit last Thursday. does Jefferson send you a confirmation email or anything that they've received it?

I'm most likely going to decline my acceptance but I'm not sure if I need to notify them or just let the deadline pass. I suppose this is good news for those who're interested in attending TJU.

I'd send them an email at least, or else you'll get a friendly call sometime after your deadline. I really do mean friendly, not in a sarcastic way.

OMG my first admission letter in 2 years...i cant help but cry....
😍

Congratulations!! What were your stats, www123?
Do you think I can get in next year with a 3.0 cum / 3.2 sci and 95 PCAT?

I am a bit worried, though. My GPA is not that great... 3.0 cumulative.. barely. (It's actually a 2.997...... boo....)

well to be honest my stats arent too fancy 😉

GPA - 3.2
PCAT - 84
experience - CVS pharmacy for 1 year
great LORs though

Here are your options:

1) on-campus housing (turn in your paperwork NOW, even if you're not 100% sure whether you'll take it, you can decline it later).

2) search Craigslist for open apartments near Jefferson (keywords include Washington Square West, Chinatown, Washington Square, center city, etc...). Be aware of scams (ie anything involving western union or an "overseas landlord."), and deal in person.

3) Enlist the help of a real estate agent for rental properties, sometimes you'll see them on Craigslist (ie Philly Apartment Company, Alan Domb RE), give them a call.

Strivergirl, my gpa was 3.17 and my science was 3.0 with a Pcat of 84, so I think you have a good shot.
Jenny, most likely you are waitlisted, but I wouldn't give up hope. My friend was waitlisted until April for his number one school, interviewed in December and got in. I would probably just wait for them to contact me personally, but I don't see why calling them or sending would be so bad.

hi,
i sent in my supplemental at the end of january but havent heard anything from the school yet. does anyone submit their applications around my time period and receive invitation from interview? i called the admission office but all they said was to wait. anybody on the same boat???🙁

Has anyone heard back from the Feb 28th interview?😕

For those who interviewed at TJU from out-of-state, did you take the taxi or rent a car to get around? How much will taking the taxi cost?

If you don't mind walking a little, just take the subway. If you drive, you'll have to deal with the traffic and all the one-way streets.

I've been doing a lot of thinking and I think I'm just going to put down a deposit for TJU. It's $500 if I don't go but it's a small price to pay to play the waiting game.

I took the train in from the airport directly to center city ($7 one-way). Taxi will set you back $30-$35 each way. Don't even think about renting a car, it's a pain in the arse, everything is walking distance. Once you're in center city, you can walk everywhere you want to go.

Car rental will set you back $30/day including taxes + $20-30/day for parking (overnight), and if you're under 25, don't forget the under 25 surcharge. Besides, there's nowhere to drive to, everything is walkable. If you're really feeling adventurous, UPenn is a 15min bus ride away for a $1.45 token ($2 on board cash).

Yeah, I actually live in Baltimore, MD (technically out of state, but I'm sure that doesn't help) and drove there (appx. 2 hours) and taking a car sucks. From my perspective, the worst part wasn't the driving, it was the fees associated with parking my car. $9 here, $15 there, it just kept going on and on even if I was walking long distances just to save cash. Luckily, I got in, so my bitterness washed away quickly.

I interviewed on the 28th and haven't heard anything yet either. Hopefully we will hear soon

Thanks everyone! Good thing I didn't book a car rental. Anyway, I just booked a night at Comfort Inn located on Columbus Blvd, along Penns Landing Area, about 1.4 miles from TJU. Confetti, do you know if I can take the subway or the bus from there? I think 1.4 miles is a little far to walk.

Mmmm...that's a bit on the far side. You CAN take the subway (MFL blue line) from 2nd street to 8th street....a whopping 6 city blocks, but you're better off walking.

I would suggest just taking a cab the day of your interview if you didn't get a chance to walk/case out the area. Cab ride should be about $5-10 or so (guesstimate). If you have a PM interview, you can probably walk it...go chill out at starbucks for a while, then head on over. Edison building is on 9th/Sansom.

Ok. Thanks confettiflyer!

Hey. I'm from Washington State. When I interviewed there, I stayed at the Marriott Philadelphia Downtown (which had a shuttle service from the airport) and it was walking distance (about 4 blocks) from the hotel.

Has anybody who has sent in their deposit heard back from the school?

I sent mine in two weeks ago tomorrow and haven't heard back. I started getting worried yesterday but with my work/class schedule I usually don't have time to call until after 4PM PST (because I'm always late and flying out the door in the morning!).

My MWU offer expires tomorrow so obviously I need to decline.. but I'm kind of worried about declining that only to find that something happened with Jefferson.

I totally know how you feel. The time difference makes it tough. I would say try emailing. They're usually pretty fast with the reply.... Hope it works out.

Had interview at 2/14

Got in 2/26.

Good luck to people that still have interviews. =)

Hey StriverGirl.
I got in (but I really don't know how)
GPA 3.4
Science GPA 3.09
Pcat 62 (ouch)

Experience: Not a pharm Tech but 3 years volunteering at 3 different pharmacies
Good LORs though.

Just got an interview invite today. I opted for the last interview date, 4/18

It was really nice to meet some of the students from the incoming c/o 2013 today at the New Student Orientation.

To those who are concerned about getting into Jefferson, from what I heard from today's presentation from the Dean, there are still seats available for the new class. So just because you haven't heard back from the faculty, does not mean the new class is filled. You just got to be patient.

For those who are already accepted, just a reminder to make sure you take care of your financial aid paperwork as well as your background checks, physical examinations, and immunizations.

Feel free to contact me or anyone else from the c/o of 2012 if you have questions.

Once again, congratulations to the those who have already been accepted.

Does anybody know when the adcoms meet up to make decisions? Looking at the older posts, it seems like people get their acceptances about 1 week later (at the earliest), usually on Fri?! or... does it vary? I'm sooooooo anxious!

At the interview, we were told that we would hear a decision within 2 to 3 weeks. I interviewed in mid-January, and I got the acceptance email in a little over 1 week, but it's possible that I interviewed close to a day in that cycle where they met to make decisions.

The more you wring your hands over their decision, the more anxious you will get ("A watched pot never boils"). In reality, you have given it your best and cannot change how you have performed so far (and if you got an interview, that already means they really like you). Try to relax, and good luck!

How did you receive your invite for your interviews? by email? or regular snail mail??

carrier pigeons.

when that fails, e-mail. check your junk email boxes (this goes for everyone in the application cycle).

I had a recent interview and my interviewers were Dr. Umland and Dr. Sanoski. Dr. Sanoski did not break eye contact for the duration of our interview. My nerves were all over the place, I thought she could see into my soul. But it was pleasant, because we had small talks in between questions, and everyone there were so nice. I am nervously waiting for the email. The interview further increased my enthusiasm for the program!

I am really blown away by how friendly the staff has been through the whole interview/acceptance/welcome process.
I really feel comfortable with my choice, and I'm very happy to have been accepted.

Hue, I think I interviewed the same day as you. Are you the guy from Washington?

The people at this school are really good. If anyone has any reservations about their pre-candidate status, I wouldn't be concerned. From the places I interviewed at, they seem more organized and legit than some of the fully accredited places I went to. If I wasn't accepted to my number 1 choice, Maryland, I would go to TJU over any other places I was accepted.

Did anybody from March 13 interview hear anything yet??

I'm from the March 14 interview, I guess we'll find out around the same time. How many people attended your interview day? There were 4 in mine.

There were 8 people in mine. Hopefully we'll find out by next week!

I received my acceptance email this morning! I'm so happy! I'm going to get started on the paperworks NOW!

Congrats to all the people that got in!

Does anyone know if there is a facebook group or anything where we can discuss orientation, and when to move in, etc?
