There is a FB group here but it's from the class of 2012. We can make our own Class of 2013?

Go for it, just don't look dumb and make sure everything is capitalized correctly and makes sense to an outsider (ie don't put pharmacy bitches class of '13)

Yes sir! We will try not to disappoint.
Ok, I've created the group here so everyone is welcome to join and discuss the process leading up to our first day as pharmacy students. I'm so excited!

I approve 👍 I'll send a message to the student advising people (i think there's 3 of them) and maybe they can join the group/drop some knowledge on y'all leading up to the start of the year.

I gave up my interview seat. Good luck everyone!

I'm sure if the Fb page was bad, confettiflyer would be all over that!

Glad to see that Class of 2013 is starting to come together.

FYI: Copies of my old notes goes out to the highest bidder... lol

I am glad it didn't turn out too bad ... we're just coming together and you're already capitalizing on us, lol.

For those accepted, are you planning to live on or off campus? If on-campus, did you fill out the housing application yet? Which hall do you prefer? Single or shared room?

For current TJU students, is off-campus housing cheaper? ....Especially if you're having your own room...

off campus housing close to Jefferson is going to be VERY pricey. If you want to be walking distance to campus, you'll save a bunch of money by booking through the school.

If you don't mind a quick bus, train, or bike ride, you could find something cheaper in one of the neighborhoods.

The easiest line of transportation to jefferson would be the Market-Frankford line. Also, the Broad street line is only a short walk away.
If you're looking for off campus housing, you could find very affordable places along these routes.
The farther west or north you get, the area gets rougher.
South philly has some nice areas for students, but there are little pockets that aren't so good.

I'm applying for on campus housing with Barringer or Orlowitz. Send in your application ASAP because it's first come first serve and you don't want to be stuck with 3 people in a 2 bedroom. The rates for on campus are pretty much close to what's out there.
I'll live on campus for the 1st year and then find an apartment 2nd year ... when I've gotten used to the city.

I have to say, Housing on campus isn't all THAT bad. Coming from from the West Coast, it just made things a lot more convenient. I didn't have to fly out here extra times to try to find a place to live.

In terms of price, it's decent. I'm paying roughly $1000 for a one bedroom apt in Orlowitz. It may be pricey for some people, but I have had issues with roommates in the past and opted to just get my own place.

I have friends who live off campus and some pay that amount for a studio. 1br apt w/in blocks of campus can range from $1300 to $1500+.

hm, I interviewed late January and still haven't heard a peep, maybe a response got lost in the mail. Oh well, i already sent in a deposit for another school so I really couldn't care less at this point

Thanks for all the inputs about housing! I just sent in the housing application today. I'm hoping to get a single room in a two-bedroom apartment or 3 bedroom apartment in either Orlowitz or Barringer Hall. I like to have my own space, yet be surrounded by other people at the same time! lol......

Chances are slim that both US mail AND email failed simultaneously, so you probably didn't get accepted (or rejected for that matter).

A bit harsh there, don't you think? lol

I really need to get cracking on Mol. Bio.

Maybe they should keep an eye out for the carrier pigeon or an owl perhaps?

yeah probably, although it would have been nice to be told that I was rejected instead of hearing nothing. It turned out for the best anyways 🙂

Does anybody know how the waitlist works at Thomas Jefferson? Maybe how big the list is and if anybody got in as well? Thanks.

I just got accepted today from TJU by e-mail. I interviewed on Sat March 21st.

When they sent the invitation for the interview and gave the list of interview dates to choose from the last date was April 4th. But that was as of March 6th, so they may have more.

thanks oplesandbononos! did u meet their minimum pcat requirement?

Overdose, I called the admissions today for YOU, and he said he doesn't know when the last interview will be. But it seems like they're conducting interviews weekly all throughout April. Just be patient!! 🙂😀 You'll hear something soon!!! Let's go get some crawfish later this week!!!

I wonder if I would ever find out why I got accepted ... or how I got the interview for that matter. My PCAT score is average and my GPA isn't stellar. But I'm content with not knowing.

Congratulations to everyone who got in and good luck to people who are going to the April interviews!

If you look at last year's thread, there were people with PCAT scores below 70 who got accepted too.

I'm sure TJU is accepting many students now because many of those who were accepted early in the cycle have already given up their seats to attend their #1 choice schools.

Wow, I love Jefferson. Did everyone get next year's schedule in the mail? After having been to a school with a horribly disorganized administration, I am soooo appreciative of how well organized Jefferson is. 😍

.... I just wish the tuition were cheaper. Does anyone know of any scholarships or grants?

I got a $1500 grant and an uber low interest (~3%) institutional loan for $3k...I came in as an independent student and we all know pharm techs working part time are pretty much in poverty...haha

I love 'em too, very quick and efficient! But I haven't received the schedule for next year yet, when did you get yours? Hope to see you next year.

Try looking around the Jefferson's financial aid website, I think you'll find some info on scholarships/grants there.

I've noticed you around these boards for a while (i think), congrats!

Do your FAFSA asap (assuming you filed your taxes)...i think someone posted the school code on that FB group someone posted above.

Thanks =) My best friend is my accountant who is taking his sweet time to finish my returns 🙄 That's what I get for mooching free accounting services.

lol, are your taxes really that complicated? I had a W-2, a few 1099-INT's, 1098-T, and a bunch of random stuff and it took me 30 mins online.

I guess for next year save him the trouble, I'll walk you through it...it's pretty easy.

Use FAFSA Code 013549 and I think you have to file it before 6/30. But fill it out ASAP because some of the grants/scholarships & such are due earlier than that. Plus, you have to send in a signed copy of your 1040 form to the school too, I believe.

I would like to know...How long after will you get the financial aid packet after you sent in the enrollment form and deposit? I sent mine in last week (March 25) and haven't gotten a confirmation yet. Anybody??
