ugh, I just called Loyola and those bastards have me in the pile to be "reviewed again in January," whatever the hell that means =P

Pewl - sorry to hear that - but it probably isn't as bad as it sounds. There can't be that many interview slots with all the holidays coming up and stuff - it is still early. Good luck!!

I am sure you'll be fine. It is not a rejection so stay POSITIVE!! I just got a HOLD from SUNY Upstate and I feel pretty damn happy because I have a pretty low MCAT and they could of rejected me in a millisecond. Keep your head up!

Pewl, aren't physicians supposed to be decisive? That reply blows. I called today too and they said that my app was still under review. Do you think that means they can come back and say "review again in January?" Yes, I think it does.

boston huh? i wonder if we interviewed on the same day. i think there was a girl at my interview who said she was from boston. i was kinda sick on my interview day, though, so i could be totally wrong.

and yes, i did forget about out of state mail taking longer. i live only about 15 miles from the school, so my letter came the day after it was postmarked...

was she hot? if so, it was me. hehehehe.

Laurie

I see that you interviewed at Rush. What kind questions did they ask? What did you think of the school?

AAAAARGH... So, I just found out that tomorrow is a federal holiday which means NO MAIL SERVICE.

According to this website http://postcalc.usps.gov/

if Loyola sent out letters on Tuesday, then Friday the letter would get here.. IF IT WASN'T A FRIGGIN HOLIDAY... booo...

Wow, you're right. Boooo is right and Saturday it is! What's one more day anyway (just kidding, I would be pissed too). 🙂

I am a bit worried now, because all of my coworkers, friends, and family keep asking me "any word from Loyola yet?" This prevents me from trying to pretend I am not thinking about it. Booo for holidays.

OK - Dern holiday is now over - GET TO WORK MAIL PEOPLE (picturing south-park like underpants-gnomes processing mail is amusing me right now). Holding my breath today. OK... maybe not all day, I would turn blue, so how about just, uhm... taking deep breaths.../ramble_off

wow - getting mail, must be FRIGGIN NICE... it is almost 5:00.. still no mailman.. positive thoughts.. happy thoughts... fingers crossed.

Mail just got here... no word yet. Now I have to answer the phone for the next 3 hours and tell everybody I know that I still have no word. lol.

I had my roommate stay home and wait for the mail with me, I don't think I will be able to open the envelope. I went into a vapor-lock like paralysis unable to even look to see if the envelope was there. Monday, will you hurry up and get here!

BTW - anybody else receive a letter after the meeting on Monday?

I interviewed at Loyola on 10/3 and got a phone call from my interviewer on 10/26 telling me of my acceptance!! The letter came a few days later. It was my 6th interview and out of all 6 was definitely my favorite school. The students were all on fall break so I only got to meet a few but the facilities seemed really nice, the staff was really friendly and the overall vibe just felt right. A friend of mine is a MS-II and he really likes it as well. I think it's a great fit for me and cannot wait to start! I really like the philosophy of "treating the human spirit" and feel confident that Loyola will train me to be the type of doctor that cares about their patients and really gets to know them.

Good luck to everyone still waiting! Hope to see you in August :luck:

Flop, since I still haven't heard from Loyola, the anticipation of your acceptance is the only reason I am reading this thread! You'll be in like Flynn.

I got the letter today and it's didn't get here until past 5pm! What's up with the mail system??

Floppy,

Got my fingers crossed for you! Same as gdbaby... just reading to send you lots of luck for some good news in the mail!! :luck: :luck: :luck:

hey guys,

i'm crossing my fingers for you also! so what kind of envelope are we expecting?/ is it bad to call the admissions office and ask them straight up if you're in or not - they must know!

Anyway - I'll be in you're shoes in a few more weeks, I interviewed last week -loved it/thought it went well - and i'll find out if I made a few days after the next adcom meeting on the 28th!!

again, good look to you guys!

I continue to be nervous - a lot of people have reported getting calls from their interviewers saying that they were in - but nobody has reported yet just getting the good news by letter alone... I haven't received the phone call yet... ok.. Monday, I can make it that long.. Monday...

I wish I were you guys!!...lol 🙁

I did 🙂

No call for me...just the letter. So no worries, not everyone gets the call.

Good luck tomorrow! :luck:

oh yeah...good question...don't freak out if it's a little envelope...the good news comes in a little envelope. 🙂

Hey guys,

When I interviewed at Loyola, I was under the impression that they were really just trying to guage that I was normal... My student that brought me around in the afternoon said the only way to mess up my chance of getting in was to walk into the interview without my pants on! But that only reinforced my idea that they were trying to interview to "fill spots" rather than anything else, like waitlisting/putting people on hold... I'd love to know what you other "interviewed and or accepted peeps" thought!

Thanks guys, have a good Sunday, GO BEARS!

Yeah, I would second what cubs08 said above. In fact, when I interviewed, my interviewer told me straight up, "We usually don't tell our applicants this, but if you interview here at this time of year we want you to attend. So, don't worry too much because today my job is to convince you to go here." Now, I don't know whether this was an earnest statement or an attempt to put me at ease, or both, but I did end up getting in a few weeks later! Just some food for thought Flopotomist.

On another note, it's cool to see so many others that share my desire to attend Loyola, I had no idea this thread would take off like this. Keep it up!

This thread is getting me SO pumped for my interview there this week! 🙂

My second interviewer said essentially the same thing, he said, "we are just interviewing at this stage to make sure you aren't an axe murderer - otherwise you are in."

So if I don't get in, I am going to really have to work on my interview skills I suppose!

OK... it is almost Monday... I can make it.. breathing.. breathing.

Good luck on your interview!! Bring gym clothes and challenge your tour guide to a racquetball game if you want! The courts are amazing...

Make sure to leave plenty of time to explore Chicago, there are so many things to do. If you haven't seen "Body Worlds," the exhibit may still be at the Museum of Science and Industry (I think that is the name of the museum).

Just relax, and try to be yourself - this interview is super low-key, and mostly like a conversation. Make sure to review your primary and secondary as many questions will come right off of your app. The interview feedback section on SDN was quite helpful to me, many of my questions were the same questions that I saw on here.

Let us know how it goes!

One more thing to add - I asked nearly all the students I talked to at Loyola, "What is the one thing you dislike about your school, and what is being done to fix it?"

The answers I got were:

1. blank stare
2. nothing
3. (long pause) uhm...the parking lot is too far away?
4. nothing
5. blank stare - "nothing"

Very telling indeed that even given an opportunity, students couldn't find bad things to say about their school. I have had very different responses to this question at other schools, and would strongly suggest asking students this question when on interviews. You learn a lot about a school this way, and get the "real" story.

Okay, you all need to stop talking now. I desparately want an interview, but fear this will not be the case. JBrice, why aren't you using your new found respect at Loyola to advocate for my interview? 😉

unfortunately, the exhibit left several months ago, but the museum itself is still cool to check out nonetheless. I also like going to the shedd aquarium and adler planetarium once in a while (I am a native chicagoan). plus the view from out there of the skyline is amazing.

Any good little envelopes yet today? I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of you!

I just got a letter from Drexel telling me I'm waitlisted. I feel like writing back to say, "So what? I've got Loyola, baby!"

Chopianista, best of luck at your interview. You'll love it there!

flop...what's the news...you're stringing me along like a bad soap opera....

i..just...can't...stop...watching!

I hope that those of you waiting for letters hear soon!! I htink the mail is bad going in and out of the city.....my LOR for my old PI, who had to move to Texas this year (right before the hurricanes too), swears he sent it almost two weeks ago and it was still not there as of last Thurs. I'm tempted to email him and ask him to resend it with delivery conformation and I will send him the money to do it......
I'm sure you will all hear good things this week!! (or at least I hope you do.....)

so i've been complete since late august and haven't heard a thing from them yet. i felt that at least obtaining an interview at loyola was a more than reasonable expectation, yet that hardly seems to be the case. anyone know whether they are just flooded with apps or any other reason (other than a lack of desire to interview me) as to why i haven't heard anything?

Now I am super nervous - me and my big mouth... the mail has not yet arrived today, but at 6:00 a bunch of my friends are coming over in case it gets here today for an envelope opening ceremony. How embarrassing will it be if I get a rejection lol... at least I will have my friends around I suppose. Crossing my fingers!

Either way, much drinking will be had!

You know you're in. Come on. You know it. 😎

If Flopotomist doesn't get in, I'm not going. I think we should all protest if he doesn't get in.

YOU'RE GETTING IN.

HAHAHA... thanks for the kindness.. OK.. the mail is here, and no letter today. Cancelling the 6:00 ceremony, and rescheduling for tomorrow.

If Flopotomist doesn't get in, I'm still going (assuming an interview and acceptance come along!), but I am going to be really pissy about it and say things like "I bet if Flopotomist were here, this dissection would have gone a lot more smoothly" or "This reminds me of a time when Flopotomist said the funniest thing. He is so much funnier than any of you."
