a new day, a new wave of little envelopes...figured we oughta bring this thread back up to the front... :luck:

I am putting incense, candles and a picture of a white lab coat under my mail slot. Is it sacrelige to worship the God of the Almighty Little Envelope (GALE)?

Gale, be good to me today! Has ANYBODY heard back yet from the last meeting? I mean, the committee didn't meet to discuss JUST me.

I got my letter on Saturday after the meeting on the 7th. I live in DC if that helps . . . anyway, just wanted to say hi to everyone on the thread who's interested in Loyola as well:

hi.

Good luck everyone.

I have my rioting gear in my trunk today. i'm ready to go.

Flop, what's the news!? I've been on pins and needles all day thinking about your mail!

congrats to all the newly accepted. you'll love it here. feels like home. 🙂 if you have any questions or whatnot, feel free to ask. myself and several other loyola students still lurk around here. (PM's are always the easiest, as then we're sure to see them...)

Just got home to start preparing for the envelope opening ceremony... alas, no envelope. I have now lost all credibility with my friends lol. Are you people SURE that envelopes went out? If I didn't get one, would it be rude to call on status check Thursday?

There were a couple of us that received them so I know they are real! Could it be that your file will be decided on at the NEXT admissions meeting. I don't think it would be a problem if you call on Thursday to see if you have been reviewed.

I feel for ya man! I am not waiting for an envelope from Loyola but a phone call - I want an interview so bad I cannot bear it! I am so excited for you! I'm sure you will get the most coveted envelope soon and when you do I will just have to live vicariously through you!

I am going to follow my M1 friend at Loyola next Tuesday...I will pilot a recon mission for the envelope bearing your name, and when at last I find it and can bring it to safety I will hold a press conference!!! 😀

does loyola send interview invitation by snail mail or by email?

which mode of communication loyola uses to send interview invitation? snail mail or email?

I've completed my secondary since August, my MCAT released on Oct 14 and i haven't heard anything from them yet? Tired of checking email and disappointed every time.

they call you and i guess they send an email too. anyone wanna back me up on this?

For everyone attending, and everyone who will be attending, what are your stats? I heard they are friendly to non traditionals at loyola. Every single person who talks about this school has good things to say, so I am going to do what i can to get in the 2012 class. Does anyone know about the mams programs? I am going to perhaps try and get in that to strengthen my application.
Thanks,

I suppose it is possible, but Dean Norstrem specifically told my group that we would be reviewed on the following Monday, and then letters would be sent out Tuesday. I imagine if it takes a day to work through the institution to get to the actual USPS, the mail would pick up the letter Wednesday. According to the USPS, a first class letter takes 3 days to get here from Chicago. Friday was a holiday, so we will give them a 4th day to process any "backed up" mail from one extra day. According to that calculation, the letter should be here today. I suppose that I will have to call on Thursday if the letter isn't here tomorrow. I just really kinda liked the idea of opening an envelope to find out the results. Win, lose, or draw - I'd like to not have my reaction recorded by the staff at Loyola lol.

This is scary man! I sit in class and wonder whether you received your acceptance letter! Anyway, I really hope to join you next fall, although I don't think its going to happen. 🙁

I totally appreciate all the positive energy! Especially from a person with the word Army in their post (former Army here - nearly 7 years hooooah).

I send out a lot of luck to you! Have you called on Thursdays to check on your status to make sure they aren't waiting for a letter? That happened to me - turned out that one of my letters never made it, so I had to resend.

Also, have you considered sending a letter of intent? If Loyola is truly one of your top 2 picks, consider writing a letter telling them why you are a good match for them, and why they are a good match for you. Address it to Dean Norstrem personally - it can't hurt anything.

GDbaby - are you reading this? Do the same!

They have all my stuff and are waiting for the next batch of applications to go to the committee. Check you PM I want to ask you something.

Ooo Flop, I was silently lurking here looking for your acceptance. Other than that, this thread makes me sad because I would love an interview. I think I will draft a letter tomorrow. As for you--keep your phone line open and your ears open to the sound of mail hitting metal!

I am really impressed with the quality of people on this board. Yes, almost all of SDN is really nice, but you Loyola people sound awesome.

USArmyDoc, just say it. You mean me.

I am wearing a pair of jeans and a T-shirt.. why on earth would you PM me with "what are you wearing big boy?" (HAHAHAHAHAHA)

Well, I heard that is only 109% true. Good thing 107% is my cut off.

Indeed. Don't let the "Barbara" fool you. I am a female. I also have a former secret life connection to the Armed Forces.

Are you poking fun at me 🙁

I know, I tend to exaggerate and describe things in grandiose ways, especially when I am passionate about them!

Timmy, I was just being a smartass. I do stand-up comedy on the weekends. Obviously, it's a good thing I didn't quit my day job. 😳

Actually, I haven't heard of them emailing for interviews. Only calls. Unless you know of someone...

This thread has to got to stay up and running till I get a decision regardless of the outcome.

I know, I just had to take the opportunity to give you a guilt trip 😉

You are a fine comedian extraordinaire!

Hello.
MAMS program is a good bet. If you can get in, you have a very good chance to get into medical school the following year (they had a 75% acceptance rate with the first class). Be warned though, some people don't realize that there is a "glide year" between the program and when they want you to apply (i.e. you start the MAMS program in Fall of 2006, you finish in May 2007, then you apply for entrance in 2008)
I can't say enough about the MAMS program though, its a fledgling program (has its sophomore class this year) but has great potential. Loyola University seems committed to helping nontraditionals. PM me for more details.

Hmm... now that I think about it, nobody has posted on the wall of fame after the Monday meeting (tito, you were in an earlier batch, no?)

No, I was in this batch that was reviewed last Monday. One other person mentioned that she also received her letter on Saturday.

ah cool.. so at least we know that letters went out.

Today is the day. I can feel it. Ok, I know I said that some other days too. But I really feel it today.

Flop, I am crossing everything for you today...fingers, toes, legs, etc. Good luck!

i know it won't make you breathe a whole lot easier, but it IS still just the middle of the interview season for loyola. we only interview 1-3 people/day (5 days/week) so they don't get thru people super fast. i interviewed in january and was accepted straight to the accepted pool (no waitlist).

Very good to remember! May I assume that you are Brats as in Chicago Brats with sauerkraut?

While there are plenty of good schools in the midwest, this weather is bunk.....I swear that it was a 60 on sat and now it's snowing!! Plus my boyfriends house sustained some wind dammage last night. 😡

Flop, be happy that you are in a sunny warm state (I think you said CA) because when you get your letter, you will have committed yourself to four years of funky weather......

i wasn't home when they called, so they left a message on my answering machine and followed that up with an email as well. maybe they only email people if they don't get through on the phone immediately?

Keep us updated Flop!

Flop, when you get your acceptance, I am going to buy you an "I heart Loyola Stritch" T-shirt. I think navy blue with white letters. I will keep my mind focused on this today so you won't have to.

I think I am going to go get a "I heart the Postal Service" t-shirt to try to make the letter come faster. No mail yet today, but with trishaaa crossing her legs, fingers, and toes - goodness is SURE to be here. Now if we could just get Barbara and Army an interview!!

Oh - and to the poster above regarding the weather, I am planning on just setting up a cot in the gym and never leaving the building for all of winter lol. On a serious note though, jbrice is going to have to hold a "living in Chicago for idiots" class because I don't know how to live somewhere so cold (like, uhh.. how do you get your car to work, and where do people buy those fuzzy hat things they wear in Siberia and Chicago?)

If this is your "serious note" then you are hilarious!

No worries about getting your car to school, but once you dig it out of the snow, make sure you have enough crappy indoor furniture to bring outside and mark your dug-out space so you have somewhere to park when you get home!

what you're REALLY going to love about Chicago is the way that all buildings and public transportation are heated to the mid-70s...so while you need 15 layers to survive the snow and wind outside, you will then pass out from heat exhaustion as soon as you enter a building or step onto a train. the winter wind is a killer though...no way around that (anyone see any of this past sunday's bears game...that wind was insane)

but, as we are having our first day of snow flurries here in chicago, perhaps you should put some hot cocoa and candy canes by the mail slot today to entice your letter from the frozen tundra of chicago to its new home in your mail slot 😀

The funny thing is, I am actually sorta serious... many of us (me) have never lived anywhere that gets colder than MAYBE 45 degrees (once a year). Living somewhere that gets as cold as Chicago requires that people learn a certain set of skills. For example, where do you buy those fur lined parkas? How do you build an igloo to survive? If you buy a coffee from starbucks, and go outside, does it freeze? Do the penguins bite?

and don't forget that most of the suburbs around maywood don't allow street parking at all overnight....although, off-street covered parking is the way to go if it's available anyways
