My response wasn't to make you feel like you had to apologize! I just meant that if you got one interview then all the schools most likely have your DAT Scores because TMDSAS transmits them at the same time.

Trust me, we all get excited when we get ANY email from a dental school!

Tell me about it. I started unsuscribing myself from stupid orbitz, expedia, and other dumb advertisements because every time I would receive an e-mail, I would get super excited 😱, and then see that it's just an advertisement e-mail.😡

Oh yeah, I know...but when you asked..I was like O.0..Houston interivew? Went back and saw it was interviews and rejections lol..not notifications then it was like :idea:...:laugh: Thanks yall. Hope we all get in where we want. Did a summer program at Baylor this summer...awesome school...great clinical experience and patience pool. Had a chance to do my own wax up's , cavity preps and do both amalgum and composite fillings on a typodont. 😀
 
I am becoming a little impatient...I submitted my app on July 25th and they received it with payment on 25th ...but have not transmit it to schools yet??? do you know how long they take to finally process it....their website says they are processing application they reieved payments for on July 16 now...if I count a day from there then still it will be 9 days before they touch my app....is it a right estimate?

Yup, you are in for a wait! Mine took about 14-15 days. It was very painful watching them change one day at a time lol. Also, keep in mind that they don't work on weekends, so count those days too.
 
wow...i think i will not check my status for a week now or until i recieve anything in email....waiting is killing me.
 
anyone know when any of the schools are sending out the next round of interview invites??
 
I know I (and a lot of others) received an invite from Baylor on a Monday, so maybe today. University of Texas HSC at SA sent me an invite on a Friday. Still waiting on Houston.
 
I think like previous cycle this time Houston will be the last one to send invites...they are still adjusting to new building....

I don't know. I studied last years thread and most people received them in the morning. One specifically said he received an interview invite on July 22, 2011. Technically that is still a lot later than Baylor or UTHSC SA started sending out invites, but it's driving me nuts. I clearly need something to occupy my mind while we wait. I have an interview next weekend at San Antonio, anybody else?

Pleasant surprise....TMDSAS jumped from July 20 to July 23 on their processing schedule today...I think the initial rush is over and things are moving at a faster pace now.

I heard back from San Antonio. Received a confirmation email this morning and got an invite a little while ago! Friday is their day!

Thank you so much. Congrats to your interview invites too! Oh to answer your question. I got Baylor invite in July, but I haven't heard from San Antonio yet. Hopefully it will be soon.

Look at this person that submitted on 5/14!! This shows that while they may have some sort of an orderly procedure of looking at apps, no one knows how all this works!

I also got an invite to SA on August 20th, My app transmitted July 12th
 
I interviewed yesterday at San Antonio. Overall, I would say the interview was a great experience. The staff/faculty as well as the dental students were all very nice and cared that you succeed in your education. Although the building was pretty confusing, I was very impressed with the facility. After walking out I thought about it, and if I were to only get accepted to this school,I would be more than happy going to dental school in San Antonio.

Awesome! What kinds of questions did they ask you? Did they make you write an essay? I'm praying to get an interview there! :scared:

Awesome! Hope it went well! Did they make you feel really nervous and ask ridiculous questions?
 
It was all very relaxed. The actual interview was more of a conversation. I wasn't even asked why I wanted to become a dentist! There is no need to be stressed out. Just be confident, because everybody is very nice and care about your education.

I think at this stage, it's a little over a week (took me about that long). It seems like they send you an application confirmation only when they start looking at your app, since they have sent out interview invites on the same day as confirmation :O That doesn't mean everyone gets the invite on the say day as the confirmation, but just something to look out for!

I haven't received an interview from SA. And my application receipt was sent on July 13th. Good luck!
 
Hey guys I need some feedback. My science GPA is 3.03 and overall GPA is 3.10. My DAT science is 20 and overall 19. I have 7 years experience as a dental assistant. What should I do to improve my chances to get accepted in UT Houston? i am married and have a kid so I don't have option of going out-of-state.

Also do you guys think its worth retaking DAT?

I would think postbac or master's. It is really more of your GPA that is hindering you. The DAT MIGHT be worth retaking, but I would think fixing the GPA should be your first consideration; a 19-20 is not bad. Also with a GPA close to 3.0 it is going to be difficult to make up for with the DAT unless you REALLY knock it out of the park. What is the whole breakdown if you don't mind sharing?
 
Same here. Already had my interview at San Antonio. Baylor interview in a couple of weeks. Noooothing from Houston.
 
For those of you who have interviewed already, have you been able to update your school ranking preference on TMDSAS? I interviewed at San Antonio last week and I still cannot see any schools to rank yet. It did say that there may be a delay between interviewing and seeing your school on the ranking list.
