How long did it take for y'all to get a response from San Antonio?

I've received confirmation regarding application arrival from both Baylor and Houston already. I submitted my apps like near the end of July. So yea it's been like over half a month already.... The wait is driving me NUTS😡

I actually got a confirmation email from SA before all the other schools on the exact day that TMDSAS transmitted my app.

hey folks, my app was completed 6/10 unfortunately my whole app got held up though bc of one letter of rec which was received by TMDSAS 7/30. Anyone submit their stuff after me or around the same time and get an interview yet?

This waiting game really sucks 🙁

Congrats on all of you that got interviews so far! Hope to join yall this cycle!

Finally got the app arrival confirmation from SA. Thus the waiting game begins!

BellaNella when is your interview? Mine is on Tuesday the 28th.

Do you mind sharing when your apps and supplemental materials were received and stats too? It would help me immensely!

I only applied to the 3 Texas schools. So it's my last interview of the cycle. Hope that makes sense.

good luck to you. Unfortunately, I am still waiting for Texas schools and hopefully I get into Houston. I heard the majority will interview in october-november. I'm guessing they are interviewing people with ridiculously high stats first and I'm going to be last.

Had my San Antonio Interview yesterday!!!! It went great...it was comfortable talking to the Ds3's, Ds4's and my interviewers. I have Houston next Tuesday and Baylor next Wednesday! Good blessings to everyone!! You got this..just go in and be yourself..They want to know who you are so don't try to rack your brain when looking at online interview questions and struggle to find the "right" answer. Just my advice!!

Have you guys tried calling schools to see what's up? Is it acceptable to call a school and ask when the next round of invites will be sent out?

So it turns out that there are people that have matriculated into dental school without a DAT based on the statistics TMDSAS gives out. Who are these people, I need to know😕

My guesses are:
A. Legacies with ultra wealthy parents
B. Sons/Daughter of adcoms of the school
C. Transfer students
D. Canadians who did cDAT
E. etc

There is a glimmer of hope for me! My sGPA was only a 2.99 (cGPA 3.25) and I was worried about a 3.0 cut off, looks like theres a slim few who matriculated with below a 3.0 GPA! (only 9/282)

They probably had amazing life stories though...

That is pretty legit..that is a blessing not in disguise

Could it be some people who might have done a joint undergrad/dental program or something

Doubt it.
SA's DEAP 3+4 requires at least a minimum of AA18
Baylor's PBP requires at least a minimum of AA18 and PAT 16

😱

I guess the good thing is that 52 actually applied with no DAT but only 23 got in!!!

Blasphemy! That's a favorable 44% chance for not having a DAT. I've lost countless nights of sleep wondering this. I think there's some sort of conspiracy going on here!:scared:

hahahahah maybe

Anybody heard anything from the three TX schools today (Friday, 08/24)? It seems that schools usually send out their invite rather quickly (1-2 weeks or even same day other people posted here) after they confirmed receiving the complete TMDSAS files, is that true?

Yup, some of that you said is true, but it seems to be random. Some people have even heard back after a few weeks. They are making it really hard to predict anything.

I did too!! Who are you? Show yourself! Hahaha. Just kidding. Don't!:laugh:
But the part where I was there today too was true 😀
When did you get a baylor interview and when did you submit?

diene, have you heard from any other schools yet? You are lucky that you get to check out SA.. my dream ds; but here I am with nothing on my plate.

Nope, nothing from others. I wonder if the schools have been sending out invites all this time or they are taking a break? I know that SA interviews every Monday. I hope you hear from them soon!

I'm from the Houston area and hope that I can go to Houston as well. I was wondering the same thing as Diene, if we could call up and meet with someone? I highly doubt it though, they're probably extremely busy. I even tried to get a tour or something in the hopes that I'd be able to talk to someone while I was there but they aren't even doing that.

Need some advice! I have an interview at Baylor in September and I wrote on my application that I was taking Neuroscience and A&P during my gap year this fall since I graduated in this past May. However, due to recent financial issues, I don't think I can afford to take Neuroscience at the university, but I'm still taking A&P at a community college. Will this affect my acceptance at Baylor if I change my planned coursework and decide not to take the course even though I already got an interview, or should I bite the bullet and just take the extra upper level course? Thanks!

I don't think the adcoms gave u the interview for what you have planned for the gap year.

Well you must have the bio prereqs complete (14 credits). I don't think they will care whether it's from a cc or a university. As long is you have 14 bio credits, I think you will be ok.

Houston Interview tomorrow and Baylor on Wednesday..will post how Houston goes tomorrow and give you what to expect. Much Pre-dent love to you all!!

They may care if it is at a four year university or not. It all depends on the school. For example...some schools want you to take physics( throw up) at a four year and while other like Baylor don't mind if you take it at a CC. The best way to approach that is to simply ask the school what they prefer so you don't run into any road blocks.

i think all texas schools favor biochemistry from a 4-year university.

Obviously a university is preferred over a cc, but I think he/she was asking about taking courses after submitting the app. After submission, schools cannot see your future grades anyways and they cannot base their decision on future plans as long as you indicate that you will fulfill the requirements. Just my two cents. It's best to call tmdsas/schools to get the best advice 🙂
