Tufts 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I’m looking for some insight. So…I called the admissions office to see if I could send my fall grades. She said while tufts does not require it they will update gpas. So she advised me if I did well I should send my grades. My VMCAS calculated gpa was a 3.46, my institution counted it as a 3.52 at time of admission. With my straight As this semester, it bumped my gpa up to a 3.58. I felt like it was really important for me to send the grades because my GPA was great freshman year, then dropped my sophomore and junior year. This is due to my previous undergrad institution closing. I literally had professors quit and lab partners quit mid class and this messed up my grades. All this to say I want them to see that now that I’m at a stable institution I have the ability to thrive academically. So last night on the zoom, we were told that they are going down a list of names and giving the applicants thorough reviews. I’m scared that they already passed my name and didn’t see my updated GPA. Do you think they get alerted to someone’s GPA updating? I apologize for the word vomit. I’m down to two schools (Tufts and Auburn) and I’m panicking. TIA
Did they specify what kind of thorough review? I wouldn’t worry. I do think they get alerted and if they didn’t specify what type of review they could be doing a thorough review of applicants that sent in an updated gpa!!!

Was there any important info on the Zoom last night? I didn't attend since I'm not very interested in a DVM/MPH but I didn't realize they might mention some general things about the school!

People asked a few general DVM questions at the end (trying to subtly get a straight answer on when they’re releasing decisions), but I don’t think you missed much. They recorded it so you can still look if you’d like.

Awesome thank you for that info!! Mid February cannot come soon enough🕺

I think that it doesn't hurt to send it in and explain the circumstances to them in an email

It wouldn’t hurt to send admissions an email if you’re nervous

Hey I sent them an "experience" update yesterday that I think really bolsters my app. Can't hurt right.

For those who have sent transcripts: did you send official transcripts or email unofficial transcripts?

what are we thinking is their idea of mid-february ??? counting down the days!!

The past three years they sent out acceptances on Thursday or Friday in the third full week of February. It looks like waitlists/rejections go out days later. I had been hoping for the 14th, but maybe it'll be the 21st or 28th. I'm surprised it might take them later than mid February since they didn't have to conduct interviews!

ugh this is killing me

also are we supposed to get verification of the submitted financial aid docs? I just submitted my parents W2 and the box upload said it submitted but then when I refreshed the page it disappeared

I didn't get any conformation after submitting my W2 to the dropbox. I saw posts from last cycle that if there was an issue with your financial aid documents that Tufts eventually reached out. Not sure if they do that every cycle;e, but it doesn't hurt to email them just to be sure everything was submitted properly!

Do they really want us to submit the entire tax return packet?
It’s legitimately ridiculous on another scale that they require this information. I’m going to be 26 and completely financially independent and barely speak to my toxic parents and family. I had to contact my sister in order to get the parent information which proved unsuccessful until today so now I have to submit it day of and I’m sure it’s not completely all the info they want. I had emailed with tufts regarding the parent info and they deemed my situation not worthy of a parent info waiver and that if I was unable to provide the parent info I was basically SOL. Really disheartened by their response as well making it seem like I just needed to call my parents lol even when I fully explained in detail why we aren’t on speaking terms (ie. long term verbal and emotional abuse). Anyway sorry for the long post just frustrated🙁

I feel for you! Going through something similar trying to get all this info. Scrambling today 😭

Does anyone know where to find the recording for the MPH info session? I thought they would email it but they haven't yet.

I missed the presentation about the MPH combined degree. Is anyone applying for this? / do we think since that deadline is Feb 18th that they are waiting to release regular decisions until those are in?

Someone asked if DVM decisions would be out before the MPH deadline and they kind of gave a non-answer. They said the two application processes are separate and your MPH application has no positive or negative effect on your DVM application, so I don’t think they’ll wait on releasing regular decisions. It’s just gonna take as long as it takes ig. Rumors say the third week of Feb.

Gotcha! Thanks I wasn’t sure if it was like they did the DVM admission and then based on those they admit the dual MPH people. Good to know!

Last year they came out 2/23

did they give out any information about how many applicants made it to phase 2?
I spoke to someone in student recruitment the other day, and he said he believes that the number of applicants who made it to phase 2 is roughly the same as the number of applicants they would invite for an interview. He did say they won't know for sure until they do a review of their process later on though

Ohh okay thank you! Anyone know last year's interview stats, how many invited vs accepted?

I wanna say I saw on Reddit that they interviewed around 500 students. They over-accepted students last year so I think the class size unintentionally jumped from 130 seats to 170+ seats. I am pretty sure they're aiming for 130 seats this cycle, though.

Does anyone know if we receive financial aid info when they release decisions: ie, if we are accepted will we know about grants and stuff on the spot? I assumed that’s why they had us all submit it in advance but maybe not?

does anyone know if last year they said decisions would come out mid february and then they ended up sending them way late or did they just say some time in february?

Looking back on last year's thread, it looks like they were told it would be between the week of Feb 20th and the first week of March, and they ended up coming out on February 23rd. They held interviews last year, though, so I don't know how different the timeline tracks will be this time. Hopefully soon though, because the wait is killing me!

hmmm that makes me think it’ll be earlier then since they’ve been saying mid-february. crossing my fingers we all hear good news!!

Does anyone think decisions could come out later this week, or are we pretty sure its next week?

I think they're making their decisions this week! They have been pretty spot on when they plan to communicate with us. I also saw on the video analytics that someone viewed my tufts video on 2/7.

omg that is very nerve-wracking and exciting!

That really makes me worried. Nobody’s viewed mine since December…

I am assuming none of my friends would intentionally watch the whole video if they accidentally clicked on the link I sent them in September lol

It was late. I was driving home from work when I got the email, so it would’ve been between 6 and 7 pm EST.
