I emailed the student liaisons, Stacey and Gillian, to see if there were still any available spots with current students on campus. However, my husband might still come in which case we'd probably get a motel room. There's also a list of accommodations around Tufts here

What about you? I just heard on Channel 7 that they're thinking 5 inches Tuesday night, then sleet/freezing rain through Wednesday morning into the afternoon, after which we'd get up to 12 more inches Wednesday night. (NOAA only says one more inch. I'm more inclined to trust them.) Edit: While Boston is due to only get another inch, Tufts might get up to a foot of snow and sleet that will be falling throughout the day Wednesday 🙁

In Stacey and Gillian's email, they write "In the event of a snowstorm on your interview day, telephone the school's snow line at (508) 839- 6124 between 6:30 and 8:00 am or the admissions office at (508) 839-7920 after 8:00 am for information."

So would it be worth it to arrive the night before, only to find out that things are cancelled? I'll call tomorrow and ask 🙂 Maybe I'll be able to make a decision by then!

Sorry TheEvilShoe! I'm assuming you got the same email I did. They're canceling and rescheduling all Feb 2nd interviews. I can't make Thursday the 3rd, but could happily do Monday the 7th, Tuesday the 8th or Wednesday the 9th.

I'm going to put a positive spin on this though, and say that I'm looking forward to meeting more SDNers! Maybe I can join some breakfast plans, depending on what day is selected for me? 🙂

Also, this means I might be able to give people a ride to or from the airport, which I'd be more than happy to do!

Last year I stayed at one of the B&Bs Tufts recommended. It was really a nice change from a motel/hotel and the proprietor even offered to drive us to the school and back.

I also tried for Wed the 9th. It's the only day my husband an make it!
 
So......checked the 10 day forecast on weather.com for North Grafton. For next week: Monday - partly cloudy; Tues & Wed: chance of snow shower. ULP!:scared: Uh-oh...... Weather gods - I just want to go to Tufts......and stay in my cozy B&B (I'm arriving at Westborough Inn Monday - anyone else pick that one???)

I'm staying there too on Monday night! Meet in the lobby that night for drinks? We can pray together that the snow doesn't destroy our interview day.

As long as the drinks you refer to can consist of ice water, coke, or chocolate milk 😀 But, I most certainly would love to meet up. If you want my cell phone number, you can text me. I'll PM it to you if you'd like!

Fun fact: If I walk, it would take me approx. 3 days and 15 hours but via car, a little under 5 hours (Oh, Google Maps😉)

So I was thinking (cause I'm in the process of sending PM of good luck/best wishes - maybe I'm weird?) Why don't we post our interview dates in one place more or less? I've been keeping up with people's posts and trying to send good karma but I thought this was a good idea? (shoot me down if I'm wrong, I promise to not take it personally 😉) I'd add a bunch of people (cause I have a snow day and am a bit bored...) but I'll leave that honor to you😀

As an interesting little aside, when I spoke with Patty about rescheduling my interview, she told me that it was actually relatively easy - The Feb 2nd interview date was reserved for local and in state residents.

She then went on to explain that they scheduled that way so that people who needed to make more detailed travel plans would have a few extra days to do so. Also, people traveling from furthest away were given Monday as an interview date to give them the flexibility of traveling over the weekend.

How thoughtful is all of that? 🙂

first a question. i can't find anything about parking on campus. if we drive to the interview is there somewhere to park? the commuter rail times are just SUPER inconvenient. anyone taking it?

Patty said that there would be abundant parking on campus by the admissions/administrative offices, with signs etc. She said that spots will have been reserved especially for us 🙂

Just saying, I'm really really REALLY looking forward to Tufts. Between the student liasons, admissions, and everyone in my life has given a ton of positive feedback (and they have AMAZING PROGRAMS), I'm like as long as I'm myself and I don't come off as anything but, I hope they like me!! :luck::luck::luck::xf:

Positive note about admissions: When I emailed them on a snow day, they still forwarded my my interview invite letter from home (but my undergrad institution managed to lose my letter for a week...🙁) Same thing when I had a question about parking abundance. It's a breath of fresh air for my current admins at my undergrad.

Oh, and most importantly: I'll have a class full of awesome SDN-ers!!!😍

You should see the signs for parking. If you are coming from the T station turn left into the second driveway you see. This will be the admin building you can park anywhere along that loop and the loop it connects to going down to the Loew building (first entrance you reach if you just want to turn there). From the other direction you will have fields on either side of you and then you will see buildings on your left. The admin building is the second driveway on the right after the field ends (if you miss it you can take the next entrance). The first driveway after the field is student parking and will likely already be filled with fourth years by the time you guys get to campus.

hey so i had my interview today and it was awesome. i'll post in the interview feedback eventually, but i wanted to quickly let you guys know the deal. it was really laid back, mostly like a conversation. they mostly just asked me to elaborate on experiences i had on my application. i think the only really "concrete" question they asked me was "where do you see yourself in five years?" i mentioned in my application that i play rugby so they also asked me what rugby has taught me about myself. it was definitely an overall positive experience!

RE Decisions: they wait until early March and inform everyone at once. Last year they sent out an email to all interviewees that said "your online status pages will be updated at 4pm today with your admissions decision" and then all of us sat around going absolutely freaking insane for the rest of the day, counting down until 4pm.

Another question axed from "additional questions" segment. Should I ask just in case it's different? Or will that come off in a negative light??

Congrats to those who interviewed yesterday!

And I am glad they let us from farther away travel over the weekend, but I will be sad that I will be missing the Superbowl while i'm on the road. (I might be the only one, but truthfully my favorite part is the snacks, commercials, and halftime show 😛)

Safe travels for all those heading up this weekend and :xf: for no more snow!!

That's awesome! I was quite relieved when I saw my Monday date (I'm in CA). I'm also impressed with how well they seem to be handling rescheduling due to weather. These folks are clearly trying to make this as smooth as possible for the interviewees, and I really appreciate it!

P.S. Do dress wisely for the weather & maybe bring an extra pair of shoes/boots for the tour--it's a mess around here. I just clear 5' tall and could easily get lost in a snowbank.

The e-mail I got a while back mentioned something like "or even a change of clothes" for the tour. Does anyone change into something uber-practical like jeans? I don't want to be the underdressed one, but I'd also like to be able to use my suit a second time.
 
'Nother question. Do people carry backpacks around? Briefcases? Do you bring note paper / a clipboard / briefcase to the interview, or nothing, or ...?

hey guys! I interviewed Thursday so I'd thought I'd let you guys know a few things I would've liked to know before the interview 🙂:
1. bring snow boots! you can bring them in a bag and leave them in the front room when you walk in and put them on for the tour, its super slushy outside and its so much more comfortable to wear snow boots/any boots, plus everyone is leaving their shoes in the front room by the door so its no big deal 🙂 plus if you're wearing interview pants you can just tuck them in and they won't get dirty!
2. Bring warm stuff to put on (scarf and gloves) because its cold outside! and you walk for a long time in the cold, but get excited for the campus, its so pretty!
3. Relax! I was sooo nervous and you don't need to be (though I've heard this from everyone else and it still doesn't help but oh well), my interviewers only asked me 4 questions (about my research, why I chose my undergrad school, about a unique experience I had, and what I thought about primate testing), and the rest was just conversation, so don't worry about being grilled 🙂

Also, I wouldn't bring a change of clothes unless you were going somewhere after, since there aren't very many places to change (the bathrooms are small) and you don't really need to, plus no one else does, and I was even ok in my interview skirt on the tour (I had boots on so the cold wasn't terrible). Some people bring bags with them(and its good to bring one with your snow boots 😛) , and I saw a few with notebooks, which is good if you want to take notes on the financial aid and stuff, but I didn't (I kind of figured I'd look it up after), and I was fine. Everyone does something different it seems so no matter what you won't look out of place 🙂
