Hi!! do you know if UAZ likes non-trad applicants?

Have you heard anything about accreditation?

As a non-traditional applicant myself, I feel like they are. My class is very diverse and we have some people in their forties and some who are 21. So there is no one lane you need to be in to get accepted.

This is still in the process, however when things do happen I can always try to remember to update so everyone knows! It is looking very promising that we will get full accreditation. We are currently still in provisional accreditation (totally normal for new vet schools), not probationary accreditation (schools that are deficient and need to fix things)

Hi! do you feel like you are receiving the support you need to help you graduate and prepare for the NAVLE? Like what is your experience up to now. Do they offer you counseling services, financial support? DO you know of anyone receiving scholarships?? Sorry for all these questions. I appreciate your help and time!

I am just entering my 2nd year, however I do think they are preparing people for NAVLE really well. We have lots of NAVLE prep nights throughout the year, access to several different NAVLE webinars for practice answering questions/how to approach questions, and then our 3rd year we have a dedicated NAVLE study block and access to a prep course that is given to us by the school. There is a scholarship you can apply for that helps pay for the NAVLE test itself.
We have two counselors what work directly with students and then we have two learning specialists that can help us figure out how to study, how to approach the NAVLE, and other things too. I have a merit scholarship that I got through the school, and I know others have gotten scholarships through school and local organizations. So it is a thing that can happen. We also have a small amount of student jobs available as well as student rep positions that pay a bit to help cover small amounts of costs. We also have feeding programs through the main food companies so you can get stuff for 59%-65% off.

I just completed my KIRA supplemental interview, it was 6 video questions and 3 written questions. It was a little awkward to talk to the webcam rather than a normal video call, but I'm excited to hear back!

hey! just a heads up, the UAZ admissions office does come into this thread and monitor it once in a while. i would be cautious with what you share here regarding the KIRA and interviews!

Yes, please do not post specific questions about it. It is meant to be confidential so everyone gets the same chance to answer it.

Thank for the heads up. I edited my post to remove anything that may be considered too informational.

Has anyone received an interview invite so far this cycle?

I have, I submitted my application in July, did my supplemental KIRA in August and I have my MMI scheduled for the 12th of September!
Wow congrats that’s fast! So is UAZ rolling or do they start reviewing applications as a whole after the deadline, if anyone knows?

So they have multiple Interview dates, but all applicants find out their status for wait-list, accepted, or denied on February 19th, 2026.

When I spoke with an advisor, I was told that they begin considering applicants on August 1st but they are not rolling. They just consider applicants as they come in but all decisions will be released on the same date.

So, is the supplemental application a Kira assessment? Would it be due September 15, the same as the VMCAS deadline?

The Kira Assessment is due 10 days from the date they sent it to you to your email. If you don’t complete it in those 10 days, you can’t do it. After that is completed the school reviews everything and will offer you an interview or not.

It is the supplemental application they talk about on the University of Arizona website.

Hi! How is UAZ's curriculum? I know it's accelerated, but I highly value hands on experience and practical skill practice. I know nobody that has attended the school, so I am curious!

Got an interview invite today, I know its MMI (which I like), so what should I expect from this one?

It is very hands on and case based. So you gain a lot of experience in putting the information into practice from day one. I really enjoy how they have it set up in systems courses. So we learn everything based around each "system" in the body. So you start basic and then work your way up, but as you go you start to see how everything gets connected. So they require you to use knowledge from previous systems in your current ones and learn how they are connected. This has really helped me make my mental maps for how an illness affects the entire body. But the biggest thing I enjoy is the cases we go through, the mandatory speaking in with others (both professors and fellow classmates) and the practical skills that are taught. The 3 year program with less long breaks is different and a little harder, but overall I am very happy with it.

It will be similar to your kira assessment questions, but with a live person instead of just you.

I have not received a Kira assessment email. Should I be concerned?

They have around 3000 applications, it will take time for them to get through everyone's initial applications.

I didn’t get mine until a month after I submitted (and this was back in July ) so likely before the big influx of applications

This is definitely true. I would be patient. No news is good news. You will probably see an email within the next month and it doesn't matter timeline wise when you get your KIRA email, because they are just processing all of the applications as they come in. So someone getting an email today doesn't mean they have a better chance of gaining admission than someone receiving an email October 1st. It's just when their app was received.

Hi guys, this is my first time applying to UAZ, and when I checked my portal today, my status was "MMI Invite Hold." Does this effectively mean I was put on the interview waitlist? Or does everyone get this status update at a certain point in the process? Thanks

Technically-ish? I was on MMI Invite Hold from September like 18/19th 2024 until December 6th 2024. So until the interviews conclude in December/January, you are considered for an interview every week!

i decided to check my portal and i was wondering if the “invited to submit supplemental applications “ was always there under application status when you are first sent your portal login? because mines still says it’s in Additional Initial Review but have the prompt above it? should i be receiving a email soon?

I would check your email and spam just in case! I got my invitation for the KIRA on Wednesday Sep 3, about 3 days after submitting my application. I didn't even get the email about setting up my portal until the next day, so you may have the KIRA invite in your spam

I am looking for some advice on the supplemental interview recording thing. I'm very nervous and have minimal time to prepare! Thank you for any advice.

I would say to take a deep breath before answering any questions. It is okay if you don't feel like you do well on one, just focus on each on individually and don't let any bad answers get you down. You should definitely know your why for veterinary medicine and the schools you apply to specifically. But otherwise, it is going to be very similar to what a job interview feels like. So be prepared to answer the same kinds of questions. Limit distractions (no children, animals, or other people) if possible.

Hi! I feel crazy, but where do we access the portal? I got an invitation for the Kira assessment which I completed on September 13, but I don't see any emails about an applicant portal. Anyone know where I should go?

3 days prior to the Kira email, I got an email titled “Sign up for your application status portal!” Check if you have that one? If not maybe contact [email protected]

I'm going to be doing my supplemental assessment in the next week (super nervous) but I was wondering about body language. I'm someone who speaks with my hands and often times looks around while I think and speak. Does anyone have any recommendations as far as body language goes?

I would say use it if it works, but if it gets too distracting try to limit it as much as possible. Im the same way, and I used it occassionally during the supplemental

Also side question about the MMI, how similar are the questions in terms of the ones from the supplemental assessment?

I definitely think it makes my answers come off more natural and not so rehearsed! I really want to avoid coming off stiff and rigid. I'll definitely try to do it within reason lol
