Ive been checking practically every day of the week...still nothing 😔 I'm thinking that after this week there probably won't be anymore people pulled off except for maybe a few more specific cases

I saw someone post this past Friday they were pulled off (don’t remember if it was here or on one of the fb groups). I’ve been on hold since 10/15 definitely don’t have lost hope at this point 🙁

I’ve been on MMI hold since 10/23, I don’t think I’m going to be offered an interview, especially since there have been people who are offered an MMI like a week after they submitted their recorded one and it’s been nearly 2 months for me

same 🙁 I have marked this a soft rejection in my excel sheet kinda bummed out for this

got placed on nov 1st and i am still going to hope for the best not putting any negativity in the air

I submitted my KIRA on October 5th, didn’t get put on MMI invite hold til December 2nd…maybe they just move really slowly? I got the KIRA invite on the 9/26, I submitted my application on 9/15

keep hope alive

Those of you that have interviewed, was it a standard MMI where you can’t “speak” to the interviewer's or was it MMI where you did interact and have a conversation? Hope this makes sense. Thank you!

I read that email above but can someone please explain if this is a waitlist (if the interviews are all full) or if everyone is placed on this waitlist?? Does this mean we’re alternative interviews?

MMI Invite Hold
Thank you for your continued interest in the University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine. At this time, we are placing your application on an interview invite waitlist. All applicants are put into MMI invite hold unless we can offer them an interview. We send out MMI invites from the end of August to the first week of January. We do not accept updates to applications. If we are able to offer you an MMI, your portal will update and an email will be sent. The interview cycle runs until January 2026. If you would prefer your name to be removed from this waitlist, please let us know.”

You can’t really talk to them, time is strictly meant for the questions

For me it was introducing myself and then answering the question. Some only nodded and one lady did actually say “good job”. Most of them didnt reach much. Some even turned the screens of after i was done talking.

I had a mostly similar experience to nickfb. My first interviewer actually did ask me about my day and made some small talk. Otherwise, everyone was friendly, some asked follow up questions and some did not. Some turned off their cameras after I finished answering and some did not.

Were the questions like the Kira questions or pretty friendly type of questions? My nerves are just so strong that I’m starting to stress lol.

I think maybe going through some situational “what would you do in xyz” context questions would help. Think in terms of conflict, or team relations. Also know your own story. You know yourself better than anyone else, so just be prepared to talk about different life experiences. Almost anyone can name a time they had conflict, had to solve a problem, or had to overcome a challenge. Chat gpt can be a great resource. Ask for it to come up with vet med interview questions and you’ll have a never ending practice set. I’d try to mentally reframe this opportunity as an exciting chance to share your experiences as opposed to one that induces nerves or anxiety. Think about how fortunate you are to have a shot that thousands will not this cycle. Take advantage of it and be your biggest cheerleader! Too much stress can cause you to underperform, and you can find confidence in adequate preparation. Hope this helps!

Still on MMI Hold...I don't think I'll move off the hold list personally (and realistically if we're being honest). This was my first cycle applying and I was already facing an uphill battle so I really surprised I made it this far to begin with lol. Congrats to everyone who has gotten interviewed and is waiting for their interview date, you've made it so far in the process and that speaks for itself! I'll try my best to stay positive and keep peeking at my portal 🙂

I understand how you feel! This process is very stressful. Try to keep calm and know it’ll all work out. Last year I applied and I was denied. This year I tried again and I have been surprised to get interview offers. The year after I was denied made me such a better applicant and I know that resilience speaks numbers to the admissions. You got this!!! Keep your head up and you’re gonna be successful!

Has anyone else heard anything this week?
No not yet🙁
I do understand the idea behind the rolling interview invite system but my god is it STRESSFUL. I always feel like i'm missing something/notices have gone to spam etc.

If we don’t hear this week should we consider it a rejection?

Hi hi. This is a question for current students:

I noticed a while back that UAZ doesn't have many faculty bios available. I'm curious who the first year professors are, and what they teach. Thanks y'all!

Hi! Second year student here! We have systems courses, so sometimes we have professors that will teach just one session and then you will have your main professor. So for Foundations (first course you take) it is Dr. Hseih and Dr. Schlacks, Self Defense (dermatology/hematology; first systems courses) it is Dr. Vesselmann, then Musculoskeletal is Dr. Owens and Dr. Obadiah, Vital Circuitry (Heart, Lungs, and Kidneys) is Dr. Schlacks again, Gastrointestinal is Dr. C and Cycle of Life is Dr. Eaton. This is subject to change, since I had a few different professors than the current first year class will/do have.

That was so wonderful. Thank you!

Of course! Let me know if there is anything else you want to know! You can always private message too.
Hi! I happened to see you mention Radiology and Lab Animal in another thread. Those are my top interests too and I would love to hear what your experience has been like pursuing them at UAZ. Thinking in terms of exposure opportunities, coursework, prepping for residency apps, stuff like that. I couldn't find much info online, but it sounds like both fields are well represented which is great to hear.

For both interests we have clubs dedicated to them and getting more experience. We also have a research program and a journal club. Research is available to incoming students in the scholars program, but if you cannot do that you can reach out to the dean of research and she is very helpful with finding placements in various fields of research at the college depending on what you want to accomplish (what I am doing). As for radiology, our imaging club is very good at offering a job Shadow opportunity with one of the radiologists in town as well as extra hands on labs and case studies and opportunities to talk with radiologists in the field about their pathway forward. This year more sessions have been added to our classes to focus solely on how to read and interpret radiographs and ultrasounds depending on the systems courses you are in. You can also do some of your own leg work and reach out to other ultrasonographers in the area or radiologists (there are 3 in Tucson) to gain additional experience or ask questions. I think we are at a slight disadvantage when it comes to getting into internships, but overall if you are driven there is ample opportunity to get the connections and experience you need to be successful. The school and multiple hospitals will work with you to take you on cycle for internships, but you have to put in some extra work to do so.
