Waitlist movement starts post may 15. It usually begins may 16 until the first day of class.

it might even start after that - people who are interviewing just now have been told we wont hear about our status until after may 15th and that we were also interviewing for acceptances, not just waitlist spots (yeah, hard to believe, but who knows). but anyway, dont worry if you dont hear may 15th, they seem to be really slow!

is UCLA this slow every year? its driving me crazy

From last years thread, it seems like waitlists didnt move til the last week of june with the majority of the decisions in mid-july. Let's just hope that their movement will begin MUCH earlier this year. I'm so confused what to do about my apt situation because of this.

This thread is picking up, eh? I love it. I have a friend who got in off the waitlist in may last year. I don't how it works though.

UCLA is operating about a month behind according to last years schedule. Starting next week, I assume they should have many status changes. It would suck to leave people in limbo who have interviewed already post may 15.

I called UCLA today and they said that more than one hundred people are on the "waiting list". I remember I saw a post from a UCLA thread from 2 years ago that said the list is 100 students, but split into two lists (waiting and hold) making it 50 each. Does anybody know the exact numbers?

i kinda figured the waiting list would be about a hundred. I hope not much more though. Man the time is finally coming to wait on UCLA decisions... AGAIN.

Have you been accepted into a school yet? My situation sucks hardcore. I made the mistake of applying to schools that were too hard or beyond my league. I've only gotten 5 interviews (AECOM, Wake Forest, Pitt, Duke, UCLA), but from really good schools since that's pretty much what I only applied to. Waitlisted for AECOM, Wake Forest, and UCLA and rejected from everything else. The best chance I have of getting in this year is by UCLA. Haha, doesn't that suck? That's like saying, "I won't get into med school unless Harvard bumps me from their waitlist." I highly doubt that anybody else waiting on UCLA hasn't gotten to any other school like me 🙁. I'm on the edge of having just wasted 5 Grand so I'm doing all I can to make UCLA like me.

11 interviews, 7 waitlists, 2 holds, 1 rejection, and UCLA pending. its really hard to not have regrets... but boy, this process sure makes you question everything.

Ouch, but at least you got 7 waiting list spots. Statistically, you've got a pretty good chance of getting into a school this year.

Alright Bab, I called them right now just for you. The lady on the phone was very nice, asked for my aamc number. Her exact words:

"The committee still has your file in hand, so give them at least a couple more weeks for them to reach a decision, mmmkay? Yes. Okay. You have a good weekend, too. Thank YOU."

(I interviewed early March.)

wow really?? i would've thought u sent urs in years ago! i kept putting it off and putting it off cuz i wanted so bad for it to be perfect, but ended up sending it in as it was. i'm sure urs is better, trust me, and good luck!

Yup... been checking every day and status just changed yesterday, but said the letter was sent 4/19.

I interviewed for MSTP back in early November, rejected, then file was forwarded to MD committee in mid-March. Worried cuz a couple ppl already got accepted post-MSTP-rejection... one would think they reviewed our files all at the same time 🙁

I think it is the same either way because when the letters arrive nowadays, it doesn't go into the hands of anyone on the admit committee, the secretary probably just puts it into your file. So as long as it gets into your file before your application is reviewed for the waitlist, I think it should be fine. Of course if you were planning on sending more than one update, it might be nice to space em out a little so it looks like you have them on the brain consistently? I dunno. It seems like there are a lot of people on SDN who are on the unranked waitlist considering there are about a 100 total, right? I'm almost tempted to start the UCLA waitlist thread, but I think I'll hold off... so tempting though......

February 22- acceptances (wed)
March 3- waitlists (fri)
March 7-holds (tue)
March 13-acceptances (mon)
March 28-acceptances (tue)
April 5-waitlists/holds/rejections (wed)
April 10-acceptances/unranked waitlists (mon)

If the pattern continues, there might be a status change tomorrow 4/21, if not then definitely there should be one on 4/24, 4/25, or 4/26.. I don't think they send out anything on thursdays (at least that is what it seems like). Also, if this month mirrors last month then some of us should definitely hear by wednesday at the latest.

Ha, I was wrong in my predictions. Unless, they sent out a batch in which SDNers where not a part of . Their behavior is sporadic, their response is scripted (if i may), and pace, well, I will leave that for the imagination.

babylonian i belive your right... there will be a status change next week... well for granted i'm a drew person but from my converstion of our admissions lady @ drew, they just sent a batch of acceptances/waitlists/rejections (don't know which really) to ucla... so if that is right then it is most likely that ucla will send out some sort of notices... (you have to keep in mind second look is a week away right? 😉 )

I interviewed early early April, and haven't heard, which is no surprise, as its been less than a month. I DO hope that they'll get back to me before May 15 so all my trauma/ woe will be over.

Ride on. Wow...that's so recent...I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed for you. How long did they say it'd take for them to get back to you when you interviewed? Are they still giving out acceptances or are they lame and only giving waitlist spots at this point? Beth...did you apply this cycle, or are you up for next year? I interviewed with UCLA's MSTP way back in October. 😱 I'll be matriculating there this summer.

I'm actually heading up to SF for vacation over Memorial Day...so you guys better make the weather nice for me when I'm up there. 😉
