I believe it's the weekend of April 21st. I interviewed about a month ago and haven't had a status change either. You'd think they'd try to inform us by their re-visit, but who knows. Some people on here seem to think their Feb. acceptance batch could be the only one going out. I don't know what that means for us....

There sure are some big name people with big stats on this list. Same goes for the hold and rejected people.
I want to see who was accepted this year, they must be gods among men.
I hope this is wrong kbear12!!! we have to have hope👍

There has to be more acceptances out there, we know that for sure. 100% of the people with the 2/23 status change reported back that they received some sort of money offer. There is no way in hell UCLA offered 120ish people money to come to UCLA. That just is not possible.
The real question is when will they send out the next batch of acceptances.
5k x 120 = $600,000. That may be big money to you, but it's probably peanuts to the school. And remember, a good deal of those people don't accept, so you can probably lop a quarter off that number.
Especially when you consider the $200-million of Geffen money. 😀
I snail mailed a combined waitlist acceptance/letter of intent to the office today. Nothing too long, maybe 200-300 words.
Wait, we have to send in a letter for the waitlist? Is there a due date? My letter was sent home and I'm not living at "home" right now so i just got the news I was waitlisted. But I didn't know we're supposed to write/submit anything. Arghh I need to call home more often.
Dr. Neil Parker said:Your application to the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is complete and has been acted upon.
The Committee on Admissions considers you to be a qualified candidate for medical school. We have thus assigned you to a waiting list without ranking. Candidates from the waiting list may be selected for vacancies in the class if they become available.
In order that all students receive consideration, it is important that you inform us, in writing, at your earliest convenience if you wish to accept a position on the waiting list. For the same reason, it would be most helpful if at a later date you wish to withdraw from the waiting list you would notify us of your decision. Please keep us up to date by submitting any additional credentials which might be important for your record.
Thank you very much for your continued interest in our medical school.
Any estimate about the size of the unranked list at the end of interview season?
Well they interview about 800 applicants....probably accept about 150 people for 120 spots (I'm being conservative, remember that they said that half their class comes from the waitlist)...Based on the mailings we've seen...you figure maybe 200 end up on the hold list, and maybe 100 get flat out rejected, so about 350 people end up on the waitlist....odds are not good on getting off of it....

has anyone else, besides me, been on this list before?? I applied two cycles ago, got the same letter, same list, same sadness. held onto that hope till august...and nothing. Here's to better luck this year for all of us!![]()
yup...I was on the hold list last year though (on the unranked list this year)....hopefully it goes better this time
Can anyone discourse a bit on the difference between the "hold list" and the "wait list"? Much appreciated.
Applicants on the hold list are not considered until all the applicants from the unranked waitlist are exhausted......the hold list is UCLA's way of giving you the finger
sorry to say but if you are on the hold list you have absolutely no chance

dude, at least most of you got some kind of answers. I interviewed in early dec and so far, my status page hasn't change. I called them 3x and the only thing they can tell me is that my file is still under review. Now, i found out that the class has been filled. I'm pretty f**kin depressed.. All i want to know is which list I am listed on.

If you go back to the original thread, there were a lot more people that reported status changes on the day that waitlist notifications went out. Add that to the fact that not all of them responded with the status (that they were waitlisted) and that even a lot of those that did never added themselves to the list in this thread (myself included) tells me that there are probably more like 30-40 SDNers that are on the unranked waitlist. So I highly doubt that 30-40% of the waitlist is posting on SDN. I think realistically the waitlist is 200+.
I believe the breakdown is something like this (assuming 600 interviewees)
200 acceptances
200 waitlist
100 hold
100 reject
100? Is it ranked? Why is it called non ranking? How will they determine who would get the next available spot, there must be some kinda ranking right? If 100, then some of us will not get off this wait list right? Do you guys know anyone who did not get off the unranked wait list in the past years?
