Not sure if this will mess with your theory at all but I recieved my interview invite on Tuesday February 2nd... So I am guessing it isn't a particular day. It is just based on what needs to be sent out.

I wrote the original post saying that e-mails had gone out on Friday's and Monday's. I based it on reading all 9 pages of the posts in this forum...although, I didn't go back and read them all paying particular attention to which days people got their interview invitations.

So, the new list of confirmed days are Mon, Tues, Wed, and Fri. No one confirmed getting one on a Thursday...not that it hasn't or can't happen.

Obviously, my little "study" has not produced any results of any semblance of usefullness...but the beauty lies in the attempt...😉

I was wondering if you guys/girls think it makes a difference that you applied to the school for undergrad? Helpful? hurtful? irrelevant? Lets discuss...

Does anyone know if the June 4th interview (in Gainesville) is for the waitlisted people?

I interviewed at the Orlando campus on March 19th, and I just got my conditional acceptance from Penny!

I was accepted to UF for undergrad studies (I am a freshman transfer student) entering as a junior. I am getting my AA in pre-pharmacy from my local college. I will have all my pre-req's when I get my AA in May. My stats all look like they're in that competition zone, but I am still so nervous about getting an invite. I am going to Gainesville in April to secure an apartment for fall classes and it would be nice to know if I am outright rejected. That way, I wouldn't be wasting money putting deposits on a potential apartment, then getting an invite to another location. This waiting is sooo frustrating. I guess I just need to chill.

From what I understand, there are some schools where if you went to the school for undergrad you are considered a better candidate than someone who did not attend that school, provided you have equivalent stats. UF, however, I do not believe is one of them, from what I heard. I asked the pre-pharm advisor there if they look more favorably at UF students than other students and she said no..so...

Also...for those of you who were talking about age. Typically, it is younger students applying. However, each year there are individuals whose age deviates from the average, have families, etc., so you will most likely not be alone. But it is still good to keep in touch with individuals from other campuses, even if just to network.

As far as class withdrawals go...it is better to have a W on your transcript than have a low or failing grade. There are plenty of people in pharmacy school who have had to drop a class in undergrad. I am one of them. I dropped Bio 2. Some people dropped physics. Plenty of people had to drop and retake organic. On the application, there was a spot to explain your drops...as long as you didn't say something like "I was lazy and didn't feel like doing the work...", and you explained your certain situation well, it should not be too much of an issue.

For those of you from the March 19th (Orlando) interview who received your acceptance letters, congratulations! For those of you still waiting, don't worry, you'll get yours soon 🙂 -- For those of you with an interview coming up, don't sweat it. You'll do fine.

I might recommend waiting on an apartment. I was about to sign a lease for an apartment in Gainesville, automatically believing I would be placed in Gainesville since I was already there....luckily I didn't because I was placed in Orlando.

I know someone who did sign a lease and was placed in Orlando and was forced to pay rent for the entire year...

If you're not willing to move to a different campus then it might not be an issue, but apartments in Gainesville aren't really going anywhere. So it might be beneficial to wait.

Did you go to school there for undergrad or just applied there and decided not to go?

I am a UF grad, and I heard that typically a UF student with >3.0-3.2 GPA and >70 PCAT is almost guaranteed to get an interview.

Do you think my qualifications warrant an interview?....just curious...GPA 3.73 PCAT 84

I was wondering the same thing as the first person because I was accepted to UF when I was in high school and declined, but then when I applied for pharmacy school it asked me if I had ever previously applied to the university on the supplemental and I put yes because I wasn't sure what they specifically meant by that and I wanted to be honest. LOL

I heard that too. It kind of seems that way because I have greater than a 3.2 and a 93 PCAT and no interview. lol Maybe I'm just not what they're looking for, or have too many W's or C's or something. Maybe it's 'cuz I'm a Cane. Woosh woosh. Kidding 😛

I am willing to wait, but my parents think it is important to get an apartment early so I don't end up in a substandard apartment later.

My experiences from renting in Florida recently have been that there are a lot of vacancies, especially in the summer time. You may end up with a better deal if you wait a few months anyway?

Your GPA and PCAT are definitely competitive and worthy of an interview. I had a lower GPA (3.3) and only slightly higher PCAT (88).

I would tend to agree. If you sign in early April-ish, the apartment complexes don't really have their good deals. With the amount of apartments in G-ville, I doubt they'll fill up too quickly. Sometimes, if you wait until June/July time they have really cheap rooms.

Though..it all depends on what you're looking at. If your looking at the all-inclusive furnished student apartments...there are plenty. As far as the non-furnished, non-all inclusive..I'm not sure.

I've been looking into the rent thing as well. Anyone from Gainesville willing to offer some advice? I've been there for a total of 4 hours so it's not exactly my area of expertise lol.

Just got my conditional acceptance from Penny for the Orlando campus!!!!

Congrats to all the other accepted and to those waiting for an interview!!!

Floating on air right now!!!😍

It was nice of you to try for people like me that have been checking the email about every 10 minutes since last Friday when I had the interview!!! Unfortunately it seems there is no rhyme or reason!

Congratulation to my new classmate!!!! I got my letter this afternoon as well!!!

Fantastic quesiton! I would like to say irrelevant...but if that were true, then why would they ask the question on the applicaiton? So, it probably counts for something...but I can't imagine that it would count for much.

If it were someone's second (or third) time applying to UF Pharmacy, it may help them because it shows that they really want to be a pharmacist and they did not "move on with their life" when they didn't get it. Of course it could hurt them because they are beating a dead horse.

Unfortunately, I think the only thing one can accomplish by asking questions like this is to quite literally drive themselves insane second guessing everything...but with so much on the line, how can one help to look back and say, what if I had done this, or what if I had done that...

Ah, waiting for an interview, so much fun. (Not!)

Has anyone had any cool dreams (or nightmares) while playing the waiting game?

Hey guys, interviewed on 3/19 and just received my acceptance to the Orlando campus 🙂

For the first time in a long time, I can breathe easy!

Congratulations! Still waiting for an invite.

I'm so anxious!!!! I keep checking my email every half hour! It's driving me crazy! Congratulations to those in Orlando who have received an acceptance letter!

I just went to an interview at LECOM this morning. It was very good. However, I was very surprised when I got the call only 2 days before the interview. Mainly because I have not taken Economics which is one of their requirement. They will make their decision tomorrow, but I will be too scared to email them. I think I will just wait for their letter. LECOM is just so beautiful.

I have heard from numerous sources that they DO in fact favor UF students.

Well I would say they most definitely favor their own students.... If you think about it they really like in state applicants, and what is the best school in the state? UF lol... So0o0 it makes sense... Plus they know for a fact what their curriculum is like and so a persons GPA may be more relevant or understandable to them...

Wooo..I just got my conditional acceptance letter!!!!!! I'm so happy! check your email!!!

Congrats to all the people accepted. See y'all in the Fall

For all of the existing Pharmacy students, since us new (potential) students will be needing to get an iPhone or iTouch (or I have heard that they may allow other smart phones for next year) ... can you suggest any "must have apps?"

For example, I have heard of one called iflipper which lets you make and use virtual flash cards and it keeps track of which ones you know and which you don't know.

I just wish it would be finalized so we can watch for sales on the items we need!!! Obviously nothing Apple brand EVER goes on sale...but the laptops etc...

I strongly believe that the iPhone/ itouch requirement will be the same for incoming class. We raised the question of the usage of these devices and were advised not to sell them and courses will need them. For computer, it's ironic that IT department does not support apple product and students not advised to buy one.

Good to know that they don't support Mac laptops, I had thought about upgrading my Toshiba to a Mac as a *present* for getting in. But if it is unsupported format it is probably unadvisable. I would like to know a little earlier about the iPhone/iTouch because we are getting ready to go through an upgrade on our phones and since Verizon doesn't carry iPhone we might switch...I guess I will just wait and see.

Can anyone explain the need for an ipod/iphone in particular? Most pharmacy apps are made for all of the major phone OS's. Thanks.

The 1PDs that I toured the campus with told us that they took their quizzes on their iPhone/iTouch, I would assume the reason that particular one was required is that the app was not supported by other smartphones, though there is the possibility that may change this year, won't know till 5/31.

Hopefully Verizon will come through with their 4G iPhone this June. I don't wanna have to switch carriers, and carrying both a smartphone and an iPod Touch seems rather excessive.

Is Verizon really supposed to be coming out with an iPhone? That would be awesome. My contract just expired and I'm eligible for an upgrade. I really hope this is true. :xf:

I still haven't heard anything from UF yet. 🙁 Does anyone know if they're still interviewing people with PCAT of 75-99?

I have been looking up the same thing. Neither Apple nor Verizon will confirm or deny anything, but various other sources put the release date as the third quarter of this year (Julyish).

I really don't want to carry a smartphone and an iPod Touch, I will if I have to, but my husband is a pharmacist now and when he is on call he carries his on call phone, a blackberry, a pager and his personal cell...it truly looks excessive. Not to mention he has been asked if he is a drug dealer!

I was told last week that they just started looking at the applicants with 60%tile composites scores
