I was under the impression that schools calculated in people with military scholarships and such....just so that their statistics show the average debt. of their students is WAY lower. If you compare just the tuition of Tufts and UNECOM, they're pretty much in the same ballpark. Unfortunately most medical schools are mad expensive......Tufts is just worse because it's located in an expensive city as well.

So mark.. where else are you waiting to hear from (i.e. on the waitlist)? I just want to get a feel where else have people applied that's all.

I'm waitlisted at WCW and Penn State. Still waiting to hear from UMass and Tufts. I'm just waiting so that I'll have all my options available....if that ever happens in a reasonable timeframe. But I really like UNECOM and all of the people I've spoken with have nothing but the highest regard for the school.

Sorry change of plans.

I removed the address, so it should not work anymore.

I would much rather someone else be the moderator. Someone who knows how to use Myspace better.

Sorry

Hey guys. So the word is........I still dont know. The decision was supossed to be made Saturday and the letters sent out Monday, but I havent received a letter yet. So I called today to try to talk to Lisa Lane, but she had already headed home for the day and no one else could tell me. And she is out till Monday. So my option is to email her and maybe find out that way or leave her my cell in the email and find out that way. So I havent been keeping you in suspense for any reason other than my not knowing myself. Keep your fingers crossed still. Thanks guys.

I'm pretty sure she responds to emails from home - I got one from her at 6-7pm mountain time - so she wrote it late at night, and I hope she certainly wasn't still at the office at that hour of the night!

Man ROB.. we are all hoping for you.

So good luck... and good luck to your mail man. 😱

Did anyone get the Access and Technical Standards Documents to sign?

I got that today and was asked to sign and return it.

There was the one thing about Waiver of Access to evaluations and letter or recommendations, which I was unsure about and decided not to sign in. What did you guys do?

Didn't get those. But i'm a bit further away than you are. I'll probably see it Monday (we're having snow storms across the continental divide and that slows the mail a day or two).

I think that's going to be a lot like applying to medical school, if you don't sign it, it might look kind of suspicious to residencies. At least that's my understanding of it...

Well, I don't mind signing it. Normally I don't get to see my LOR, but what I got concerned about is the evaluations. Does that apply to class, clinical evaluation? cause I would want to know about that.

However, it sais this waiver is irrevocable. So, I wanted to know more before going ahead and signing it. Kind of like renting a car and paying the extra insurance coverage when you already have it on your visa... better to get informed.

actually it was by email. Maybe it was part of the application last year, but I was in the previous appl cycle. Maybe you will get it soon. Who knows?

So what's the word Redwing,

the suspense is killing me heh.. I think I'm more nervous than you are 😱

I,too, am waiting for the letter that will determine my future... just checked the mailbox and nothing yet from UNECOM. 🙁 Do they think we enjoy the suspense?? Redwings, anything today???

Hi.....I live in Suffield...do you want to get together some time and compare notes and get acquainted before we move to ME? I also have just signed a lease on a great apartment in Saco and am looking for a female room mate if you are interested. Send me an email....I tried to send you one but it said you weren't accepting emails. I got my acceptance the day before Xmas...what a present!

😳 Hi Everyone! I'm so proud to be a fellow member of the c/o 2010. Wow, sometimes it seems hard to believe! I was actually accepted a few months ago, but I haven't had time to register on SDN.
I'm from Lakeville, MA. My big sis is a MSII at UNECOM, so I've visited quite a bit over the past two years. I absolutely love the campus and the students I have met! I'm pretty busy working 6 days a week as a pharm tech, but I would love to meet up with some of my future classmates... Anyone in the SE Mass area?

Well........I got the letter today........

And I am on the accepted student space available list. I guess this means that I am accepted but as of right now, the class is full or all the seats are reserved. They said that this is a very advantagous position to be in as there is often a lot of movement within it. I guess its better than being waitlisted cause I am accepted, but not as good as being accepted outright. Still, its not a rejection and thats saying something. Thanks guys for all your support. I am going to be gone this weekend down in CT visiting some college buddies, but I will be back Sunday night and will be able to post again then. Take care, and I sincerely appreciate all of your support.

Hey Rob, Congrats Bro! Its definitely a good position to be in since it is one more step in the right direction! I'm happy for you. I have a very good feeling you'll be there with us on 07 August 2006 for the first day of UNECOM Class o 2010 Orientation. Keep us posted!
Cheers,
Steve F. 👍 :luck:

That is still good news, Rob. Someone may decide not to reserve their seat in the class.

Is it this wrong to wish another classmate to drop their spot, so Rob can be with us!?

But on the other hand, I was in the same position last year with the class of 2009. I was eventually told to reapply when the class was full and was accepted really early in the year for this class (without having to resubmit a secondary or interview!).

hey ROB

CONGRATS BUDDY

IT IS AN ACCEPTANCE... :scared:

Don't worry, the list will move, there are a few people in our class that are waitlisted at other DO or MD schools. I think this will move once people in the allo schools have to decide their choice and drop the others. Or a someone, like Lisa (darkirus) or I, decide to deffer for a year.

Also WORST case senario... you will have to submit another application next year, and get in really early. BUT I don't think you will have to worry about that.

Congrats again.. now relax and wait for the next letter to arrive.

Hey Rob,

I'm in the exact same position you're in...

I don't want to bum anybody out or anything but I asked Lisa for some stats...

She said out of the 120 seats available, 90 people have already confirmed with 2 deposits.

30 people have sent in one deposit, so these are the people still deciding I guess...

But...

There are 70 people on the accepted students space availalbe list right now. So...I don't know what to make of that... 🙁

However she did say that most people on this list are almost guranteed a spot for the class starting in Fall 2007...but personally..I really don't want to wait that long...

- My 2 cents

Ugh, that's discouraging. At least I'll be a little bit more prepared when I head to my mailbox tomorrow. Thanks for the head's up.

And congrats on your status 👍 , it's good to know you are at the very least guaranteed for a spot next year. Are you waiting to hear from any other schools?

Well, just 'cuz folks have confirmed with two deposits doesn't mean they aren't holding waitlist spots somewhere else - so there's a chance that a few of those will be dropping. The way the two deposits work: those accepted early in the season had until December 15 to send in the first deposit - then only 60 days from receipt of deposit #1 to send in deposit #2. So just because they've sent in two deposits doesn't mean they're not still waiting for something else.

Chin up! Hope for the best! Waitlist movement is heaviest in May and June!

Yea, I guess you're right Shyrem....I've sent two deposits to another school too so I guess if UNECOM comes around I would similarly be emptying up a slot there.

I'm trying to keep my hopes up, but it gets harder and harder every day! 🙂

Dude:

Outstanding! Please keep passing on the info, as semi-lurkers like myself have been rooting for you!

Rob, Mystic and Beachbunny, (sounds like a begining of a joke)

Don't give up hope. If things change in your dorsier, if you can get updated letters from people about your work and volunteer, if you cure a disease or something.. make sure to update admission on that.

I would definitely be pleased if I were you. You have made it this far and you should be happy. (trust me I know, I applied a few times to medschool).

Keep us posted.

I'm a Mac user. I work for Apple Retail so I'm going to toss that out there so I show my bias. Honestly though, I have a friend who is an MSII with a Dell laptop who hates it (we put an Apple sticker on her laptop to pretend and also to poke fun at one of the 1/3 Mac users in the 2nd year class) I currently own an iMac G5 and just purchased the 12" Powerbook. Both have kick arse RAM and handle powerpoint, excel, word, Palm OS software No Worries whatsoever. Plus, no need for anti-virus, anti-spyware or anti-adware programs. Stability, ease of use, and well, I'd be Apple support for anyone to the best of my abilities 😀
Plus, being that UNECOM is close to Boston and Salem, NH if a Mac needs support they can be taken to any Apple Store for it. (We have a couple retail stores in the greater Boston area and also in Salem, NH.)
Okay, off the soap box. Palm is the way to go. Mac is great. I'll give free classes on both systems when I'm there!!!
Plus, at www.apple.com/store we can get educational discounts on computers, ipods, software, and Applecare service plans. Now, I swear I'm officially off my soap box. (I don't get commission so don't feel I'm pressuring anyone into something) I'm free to answer questions regarding Mac hardware, software and ipods as well. PM or IM me. Its in my profile.
Cheers,
Steve F.

Hey Steve,

I'm actually torn between Mac and PC. My family is all PC. My sister, Janelle, is an MSII at UNECOM and she advised PC. I am leaning towards Mac anyway, but I'm new to the world of apple computers. Would you seriously give me a "how-to" lesson on the things I'll need to get by at UNE? I know PC's well, but Macs are a whole different game. (No worries if you were just kidding about that)

Hi all,
Yes, you can officially add me as a member of the "Acccept Space Available" list club. 😳 I got my letter today. (mail on the Cape is a little slower than most places I think!)

Does anyone know if this is considered the waitlist or if a separate waitlist exists? I wonder if everyone that interviewed in the last 2 months that they accepted was put on this list, or if some were outright accepted? I guess it doesn't make a difference, just curious. Thanks for the support and well wishes 🙂 you guys are great.

Continue to keep your fingers crossed for us, and I will do the same for redwings and mystic myself! :luck:

hey, it's janelle's sister kelly, cool! 🙂 anyway, keep smiling to those of you that are on the accepted space available. that means you got accepted to medical school! now you just need to wait for a space to open up. That might mean this year, it might be next year! congrates for sure though!

Hullo Kelly,
I was serious about teaching people 😀 So, yes, I would be more than happy to give you a "how-to" session. Also, make sure you take advantage of the student discounts, student/teacher version of Office for Mac, and the "free" printer rebate deal Apple has going on right now. If you have a student ID (from undergrad or your UNECOM acceptance letter will work as well) go to any Apple retail store and have someone hook you up. If you're close to Albany, NY and know where Crossgates mall is, stop by and I'll help you out.
PC's (especially Dell) are not the way to go. PC's come loaded with way too much junk software, are not user-friendly at all, plug-n-play on a PC...puhlease!, oh and the need for additional firewalls anti-virus and anti-spyware software is ridiculous. Time to dismount the soap box 🙄
If you would like any more info, feel free to PM me or im me on AIM. My screename is the same as my SDN screename.
Cheers,
One-of-many...Steves

I'm going to buy a MacBook Pro,

Definitely buy a mac however get the "Intel Core Duo" based iMac, Mac Mini, Macbook pro. because they can run both windows and mac os X operating system. So it is both a PC and a Mac.

However, I would not buy it at the store (because where there is an apple store, it charges you the sales tax). Since Maine does not have an Apple store, if you order it online it is tax free and shipping is free too. Therefore with the educational discount + no sales tax + free shipping if you order online and ship it to maine when you're at school. it'll be A LOT cheaper. I'll be available to help people to setup the Mac and PC dual boot setup so that way you don't have to decide whether you want to buy a mac or PC because you'll have both.!!!

hey guys, for those of you who have read this before, sorry, i'm still figuring my way around this site, and so I think I posted in wrong area before.

I'm looking for a roommate (preferably 1st year, female) to share a gorgeous 2 bedroom apartment on Middle St. in Saco. It's in a great area, one block off of main street and around the corner from Pepperell Sq (about 4.5 miles from campus) I've got pictures if anyone wants to see.

Requirements: friendly, humorous (appreciation for sarcasm a must), clean but not OCD, able to study in the absence of complete silence (as i usually have music playing while studying, though not loudly), if you can motivate me to get my butt to the gym more that's a definite plus, and you need to accept the fact that 12 Saturdays a year (and hopefully once around new year's) I will be screaming at the television whenever the Penn State football does something good/bad/stupid.

The rent will be about 450-475 a month, which includes heat and hot water, and everything else (cable, electricity, etc) we would split 50/50. Parking is on the street (but never a problem) and there is a laundry mat that will wash and fold everything for you approximately 150 yards away.

Let me know if you're interested, I'm signing the lease this week and so need to submit a security deposit soon!

thanks guys, can't wait to meet you all!

Don't worry Steve, you will still be my Apple product representative.

When we get down to work and we are drinking information like a water fountain, we will see who has time to help out, and having two experts will always come in handy.

BTW, Steve, what is the best price for an Ipod (simple one to listen to lectures on).

I decided to wait a year because I wasn't ready but I think if you are on that list you are pretty much guaranteed for next year if you choose to wait. If you don't want to wait there is still a chance of getting in this year. Good luck!
