I have an interview coming up...I'm coming from New York, what is the best way of travel to Bethesda...and where should I spend the night?...furthermore does anyone have any additional information about the school, their web site isn't really informative and I need to learn about the school before I go there!

I work in Bethesda, right across from the Uniformed school. Bethesda is on the Metro and you can catch a bus from the metro stop to the school. You could also walk it, but its about a 1.5 mile walk. Parking is tough in Bethesda, you should definitely park on the side streets around the campus and walk to the school, otherwise you'll have to worry about meter parking.
There are a ton of hotels in bethesda, most are sort of corporate and more expensive, but there are also a few Days Inn. I recommend staying at one where the address says its on Wisconsin Ave rather than on Rockville Pike, cause Rockville Pike is MUCH further from the school.

hi all! USUHS is a great school if you're not adverse to military surroundings. The profs and students all rave about the school. I interviewed there last year, and hopefully again this year (just waiting on LORs). Just relax. The atmosphere is casual. Just make sure you can explain why you want to practice military medicine versus medicine in the military. Also, I would recommend lodging with a student... they will give you some useful info and introduce you around. The school is a rather tight knit community.

Hey, did you guys have to take a physical because you are applying to USUHS??? I just got a card in the mail saying I need to call and set up a date for a physical since im applying. Just wondering you guys had to do that too.

This is generally required of all uniformed services sort of stuff (i.e. Naval Academy, Air Force Academy)...

all usuhs interviewees will need to take a commissioning physical to see if they qualify for active duty. don't worry about the card yet because the wheels of government institutions turn slowly. security clearance is a must as well. it's these two items that may keep you in conditional acceptance status until it is all complete once you have interviewed.

i just found out my student host is going to be a female. that strikes me as very weird. its not a mistake, i asked. i dont have a problem with it of course, but what are the freakin odds i'd have a female host at the military medical school? 😕

que sera, sera 🙂

I'm just curious, but what do you mean by military medicine vs. medicine in military?
