2023-2024 Uniformed Services (USUHS)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
From what I understand they go by branch for the most part. If they are getting to the point where WL movement is slowing down and they don’t expect much more movement they may offer you a spot in another branch if you’re at the top of the WL but no Navy spots are open. They want you to get the branch of service that you chose originally if at all possible so idk if I’d switch preference unless you really don’t care which branch between Army or Navy.
How do you know that no navy spots are open… someone just got off of it this morning

I’m not saying there aren’t spots open in any particular branch I have no idea what they have open right now or what WL may look like in the coming weeks. I’m just saying that they tend to accept by your chosen branch until near the end of overall WL movement at which point they may offer you a spot in another branch if you’re highly ranked on the WL but no spot is open in your top branch choice. This is just my understanding from talking to some faculty and previous applicants. Hoping you all see some good movement soon 😊

Has anyone here gotten off the waitlist for army recently? Keeping my fingers, toes, and eyes crossed
Looks like there's been a handful since April 30th...not as many as I expected although it could be that people are getting A's but just aren't active on SDN. Hopefully we'll see some more movement soon!

Has anyone reached out to Dr. Holt directly via email and received any sort of meaninful update on their watilist position? I dont want to annoy her but it would be nice to have an update on how it is moving along/ where I am.

i will say that i have reached out to Dr. Holt about other things and i found her to be irresponsive , i would have to send a follow up email a week after my initial and sometimes additional ones after that. still waiting on an answer about a question i asked about two weeks ago

Second this...she responded quickly to one email but I had to follow up on a second correspondence a week after sending it. Not sure if your admissions counselor would be a better route to go through regarding the detail you would get in response to your question.

I asked my admissions counselor if there will be more movement. She said the class is already filled… :( also, I thought we can talk to adcom members about feedback but she said I can’t do that… I’m confused..

Hey everyone, thanks for the congrats. I do appreciate the support.

This information does not sound accurate. I am going to speak with the admissions advisor for my group now to verify this information. Ain't no way it's already filled.

I will try to get back to all inbox responses as soon as I can, btw. I haven't been near a computer for a minute since finding out.

According to my advisor, this is what I was told:

“The seats have been filled but we have had drops which opened a few selections. As I said the Waitlist has been moving the past few weeks so there is still an opportunity. The class is not closed as of yet.”

I’ve been going back and forth between SDN and my email and refreshing it every few minutes
Same, I’m bout to just shut off my phone this cannot be good for our mental health lol

Just heard back from my admissions counselor, and she also said “the class is currently filled.” Guess we’ll just have to keep waiting :(

Same here. The only positive thing I could think of is that currently they have 170 (or-so) acceptances offered. So maybe not necessarily that 170 (or-so) have actually then accepted the A but just have been offered. I say that because I know they can't have more acceptances offered then spots available in the class. Just a thought, we will see though!

Thank you for this! I just need some reassurance at this point

Yeah from what I understand the counselors/admissions faculty can't be too descript in their responses about the waitlist and timelines. Basically, I think "Currently the class is full" is much different then the eventual "The class is finalized" email.

Are those getting A's off the WL still getting notified via email? Just wanted to see if it had changed to calls at any point. Thanks!

Would love to be added to the groupchat/get details on how to join!

For everyone still waiting, stay positive! 🤞🤞 I know the wait can be brutal - You got this

Congratulations to all my future colleagues coming to USUHS!

Sorry for this being the third, but it is the last time I'm advertising this on here. If anyone is still looking for a place, I am renting a 2 bedroom, 2 bath 12 min north of the hospital. It is fully renovated so you wouldn't have to worry about any of that. If anyone is interested shoot me a message and congrats again to everyone coming to USU or going elsewhere.

Received an A yesterday for Army. Interviewed in January, and waitlisted in February. So excited, would appreciate it if someone could DM me with GroupMe/facebook information.

Good look to everyone else!

Hey everyone! Really hoping someone could help me out. I am a reapplicant for this upcoming cycle (sorry they haven't posted the new forum yet) and I was wondering if there are any reapplicants with acceptances that can help me out with this question. I know they absolutely do not accept the same secondary applications, but as far as the primary goes, did anyone keep the same exact descriptions for some work and activities sections? My personal statement is completely different so that i'm not worried about. I'm having such a hard time rewriting two of my most meaningful descriptions, so I wanted to know if anyone knows if they would be okay with seeing the same thing again. Thank you!

Hey everyone! I received an acceptance offer from the Army last Wednesday. Is there a facebook or groupme for accepted students? I would be grateful if someone could add me to it. Additionally, feel free to reach out if you are looking for a roommate. I'm mostly looking at 2 bed 2 bath apartments in Bethesda, but open to other options as well. Excited to meet everyone this year!

Good luck everyone, definitely my dream school and thankfully not shooting myself in the foot this time unlike last year where I applied too late. Currently an officer in the Navy so happy to answer any questions you may have. Also if you're in the D.C. area I highly recommend looking into the Walter Reed SCOOP program. Its an amazing experience where you get to spend one month with a department of your choice. I spent a month with General Surgery and saw the gambit of what med students, nurses, techs, residents, and attendings do on a day to day basis.
Hello! I am a prior enlisted sailor who discharged a few years ago to dedicate more time to being a premed. I'm applying to USUHS soon and your comment about applying late caught my attention. How late do you feel is too late? My application will be submitted in mid-late July, but definitely before August. Hope to hear back, and good luck with everything!

Hey! I am a reapplicant. I was waitlisted and had a long list of medical things to work through so kind of expected that my medical waiver held me back.

Anyway, I submitted my primary nice and early with a shiny new PS. 1 week after submitting I received an email from USU stating to rewrite AMCAS and USU statements. I did not re-write my work and activities; I added 2 new ones and removed 2 older ones. My writing all remained the same otherwise, as I felt pretty good about it, and there was not much to update? Especially things in the past, I felt I couldn't update what my roles and responsibilities and accomplishments were for an activity that happened 2 years ago? I suppose that I could have rephrased or rearranged the descriptions.

Idk, from general looking online it seems 50/50 on rewriting this section, but I was totally not expecting that email from USU, and I am unsure of W/A counts as AMACAS statement. I'm definitely worried now but.... too late. I just received the secondary the other day and I have been working on rewriting those essays. Really hoping that a new and improved PS and secondary essays are mainly what they were after </3
