Army A today! Was very surprised to get off the WL this early. Conditional until official transcripts go to the Admissions Office directly (AMCAS doesn’t count here). See you all in the Fall!

When was your interview? I was under the impression that they sent their decisions on Thursdays. Are they doing it more often now?

Congrats to all the people with As! It is def nice to see that they are moving along 🙂

Hey wondering if anyone has any insight about this. I’m an applicant who didn’t get a medical waiver in time last cycle. I got my waiver in August and interview end of September. I just received noticed I was waitlisted for Air Force. Honestly that’s great news and I’m excited for the potential, BUT I’m curious how the Air Force class could be full already? It feels so early, even though their explanation of a waitlist position says you’re recommended for a position but the class/branch of preference is full. I’m not sure I applied ED, I followed that timeline and had everything ready to go super quickly. I was also waitlisted last year which I was hoping was only a result of not having my medical waiver yet.

Anyway, just curious if the class could really be full so early
I still need to complete a medical waiver, and I am getting a bit worried about the timeline. I'm waiting on remedials to be received and reviewed before I can start the waiver process. Would you mind sharing from the previous cycle when you interviewed, when you started the waiver, and/or how long you were given to get your waiver approved? I'm on the waitlist and wondering if it is realistic to get medically cleared in time. Thanks in advance!

As long as you are cleared you will be offered a spot. Just have your paperwork ready

Oh yeah no, I don't mean that it guarantees a spot being offered to you, I mean that if you didn't have the clearances no spot will be offered regardless sorry about my wording.

So I have all my paperwork ready in terms of any documentation regarding the diagnosis. I'm pretty sure I am also going to need something in writing from my provider, but is this something I can do in advance while I'm still waiting for remedials to be reviewed? I'm not sure if there is a specific document they need my provider to fill out or if they can just provide an individual letter. Don't want to waste their time if that's the case. Thanks in advance if you have any helpful info. This medical clearance process will be the death of me 🙂

This would be a great question for the Commissioning Coordinator. They process/ route all your medical waivers.

Currently have a DO acceptance and on WL for USU. April 30 is decision day to narrow it down to one (at least for amcas), can I hold onto the DO after the 30th and wait for usu if I get nothing before that?

Yes

Crossing my fingers for a large WL movement for all of us in April
I've heard that most of the waitlist movement happens in May. When I visted USUHS a couple of the med students mentioned that the waitlist movement happened in May. The same amount of movement will happen it just might occur in May rather than in April. Thats my two cents. Best

It's def been a slow year so far. But going into April 30th there should be some movement, maybe very little but some.

I suspect that spots on the waitlist may be more limited this year due to the introduction of the Early Decision (ED) application, with admissions being more selective when giving out WL spots. If the ED numbers circulating in this forum are accurate, around 25% of the class was already committed by mid-October. Historically, if 100 applicants were pulled from the waitlist each year, that number might now be closer to 75 due to the reduced availability of open seats. What do y’all think?

I can see that

Absolutely! But we should all remain positive 🙂 remember that military med is not for everyone! People are very likely to choose a civilian med school over USUHS because of the 7 year commitment, and there is a lot of fear with the future of Milmed because of the current administration. My admissions counselor mentioned that a lot of movement starts around April 15th, so hopefully we might get some early acceptance going around.

If we do not get accepted off the waitlist for this year's cycle, it would be fair to assume that we would have a good shot if we apply ED in the next cycle, right? Still deciding if ED for this next cycle is worth it since this year was the first year USUHS did ED and there's no admission statistics on it yet.

A close friend of mine that did not get off the WL the year prior got in Oct 15 (the earliest date you can hear back) the following year RD, with no significant changes to their application. If I had to speculate reapplying after not getting off the WL puts you in a really good position for admission the following year, even without applying ED.

Question, does anyone have an unconditional acceptance yet or is it just conditional acceptances until commissioning?

Many people who are both medically clear and security clear after the conditional acceptances were issued an unconditional acceptances, I am sure a many individuals have those atm.
