I'll be there! I go to FSU now about to graduate in April, but I live less than five minutes away from the St. Pete campus. St.Pete/Tampa area is awesome. I'm in the 9am-12 block on March 25, cant wait to meet all you st. pete pharmers.

Awesome! I'm actually in the 12:30pm-3:30pm block on March 25, so I'll just miss you! I can't wait to meet everyone toooo, since the class size is so much smaller than in Gainesville, I'm assuming we'll all be best friends soon enough haha. You live less than five minutes away? So are you planning on living with your family next year? I don't really know the area, and I'll be living in an apartment, any suggestions?? I'm torn between wanting to rent a place on the beach, or getting in a complex (free gym, pool, etc)! I heard places on the beach near campus aren't too pricey.

I am accepted and plan on attending the Orlando campus. I am wondering the same thing on which places are good to live. I also need to know where to find roommates! I know campus is moving in 2012 but Apopka and Lake Nona are kinda far away from each other. So I am thinking of just moving again in 2012. I know Orlando just had a big interview date, so if a lot of people get accepted we should start a facebook group to discuss all of these things!

I agree. Maybe UF College of Pharmacy Class of 2014-Orlando Campus? Do you want to start it? I will be your first member. lol

Anyone on here that is planning to attend the Orlando campus COP know a good place to live, meet potential roommates etc…? I am from South Florida and have really no clue. The campus itself is in the middle of nowhere. Also with the potential of the new campus opening in 2012 I am thinking about a place somewhere in between? Any ideas?

At the UF orlando Interview this past Friday, they told us that many students commuted anywhere between 20 mins to 1hr and 30 mins. One of them, however, recommended altamonte springs (about a 35-40 min distances from the apopka campus). Since the campus will be moving towards lake nona, a drive from alta to nona will be about the same distance except southward so you might want to start your search there. I'm not aware of the current renting rates though.

Let's wait until the people who had their interview last friday hear back, and then we will start one for sure!

I am in that block too!! I am so excited to see the campus, meet everyone etc....but I'm also getting serious butterflies about the interview. :luck:

I think you meant Class of 2015...but it would be great if we were class of 2014..lol 🙂

I just got my interview for Orlando Campus on April 22nd!! 👍👍👍🙂🙂🙂😀

STOKED!

I know many people here English is not your first language...does UF admission requires you to take the TOEFL when they are giving out the invitation for an interview?? I'm just curious😕

Congrats!! What are your stats?

thanks everyone!

bwg;
my stats are...
2.92 cumulative GPA
3.2 Science GPA
73 PCAT (1st attempt)
AA from '07
Graduating from UCF with a BS in IDS and a Minor in Health Services Administration this semester
also graduating from BCC (local community college) with a AS in Chemical Technology this semester..

My numbers seem kind of low, but this doesnt tell the whole story. I made horrible grades while trying to become a better student (i could go into my sad sob life story here but I wont go there, lol) while earning my AA, this is whats weighting down my cumulative heavily. During this time I also received an F in Biology 1 which is the reason why my Science GPA is a 3.2.

My UCF cumulative GPA is a 3.85, if that says anything. My prereqs for Pharmacy program is close to a 4.0 , except I have B's in Bio1 & Bio2, everything else is A.

I wasn't sure if adcom's look directly at the numbers or take into account the entire picture. Obviously, they look at everything and gauge your dedication to becoming a pharmacist! I have made all excellent grades since completing my AA and have taken semesters consisting of 20+ hours so I was able to continue my pharmacy prereqs as quickly as possible and also finish my degree at UCF. This semester I'm taking 29 hours between 2 institutions 😱

Good luck everyone and sorry for the rant, hopefully my experiences can help those who might feel they dont even have a shot!

Yes Indeed I live less than 5 minutes away from the campus. After living on my own in Tally for 4 years there is absolutely no way I will be living with my family! haha. Good luck man sounds like you've pushed through and got a great story. I'm trying to still keep hope. My PCAT is a 69 cum and my science gpa is a 3.47 and cum 3.55. I'm trying to just keep the faith but someone wrote on here earlier that they look at Fla residents with only a 70 above so I'm hoping it's an arbitrary cut off line haha. Either way good luck to all.

I am a FL resident, don't know if I put that or not. Good luck bro! Keep pushing and if at first you don't succeed, try again.

I just found out that I got accepted to uf-orlando campus!!!! Woohoo!! Time to celebrate!!

I agree with you..I never heard from UF after completing my application..I even wonder whether they have lost my application, well..I have a great PCAT score(92 composite) and a not so good science/math gpa(~3.2), and I am out of state..thats why they don't bother interviewing me

Yayyy to all my fellow orlando-ers!! Wohooo, I finally have some classmates now 🙂 So excited for everyone!!

I also just got my acceptance letter for the Orlando campus !!!! :soexcited: are you guys going to start a group on Facebook yet ??

Congrats to those going to the Orlando campus!
Good luck to anyone interviewing this fri at the gainesville campus! Let me know if you get accepted! 🙂

I think we should definitely start a facebook group so we can help each other out with any orlando specific questions we have before fall starts! Who wants to be the one to make it? Lol

gatorgirl i think you should make it since you were one of the first ones accepted and you've been waiting for the rest of us lol

Well, I tried to make a facebook group but no luck. No one can search it and I can only add friends and it is way more complicated than I thought lol. If anyone wants to help out or try to make a new one, please go for it 🙂

I also received my acceptance email today too! Congratulations to everyone else who received that email today and best of luck to everyone else still waiting and waiting to interview. I'm just so nervous about my remaining classes (I'm in Orgo 2 and I still have to take Physics 2.)
Btw, it's ok to get a C in a prereq class as long as your prereq average is a B, right? I think there is a chance I may get a C in Orgo 2 🙁

I just tried to make a group to and it was giving me the same problem

This may be a dumb question but is there a dinference between acceptance and conditional acceptance?

Nope, everyone has conditional acceptance. In May-ish the school sends out a packet with everything we need to do (forms to sign, immunizations, intern license, etc.) Once that packet is complete you're officially accepted (as long as all your pre-reqs are done).

Hello! I started a facebook group for UF COP Orlando 2015 (that is the name of the group.) I'm not sure how to link to it, but if you search, you should be able to find it. I have never started a facebook group before, so I hope this works.

Hopefully we can use this group to stay informed and keep eachother updated as we prepare to begin classes in August. Best wishes and congratulations to everyone who got accepted. 🙂

Cograts in getting into the Orlando Campus! best of luck! 🙂
I want to ask, how did you make a facebook group. I've tried but its giving me problem. I'm trying to make one for the Gainesville campus.

Hey guys,
Has anyone heard anything about if we are allowed to drop a class this semester? I'm stuck in a situation where I need to drop an upper-level micro class...definately not a pre-req, but will it have any influence on admission? My interview is tomorrow & the drop deadline at my school is Saturday. I've tried getting in touch with Penny but with no luck.

😕

I'm trying to find the group but it doesn't show up when I search for it :annoyed: The same thing happened to me when I tried to start a group yesterday.

The link I had here before doesn't work.

If you want to join the COP Orlando 2015 group on facebook, post here and I will pm you my name. That seems to be the easiest way for people to find the group, if it doesn't turn up in a search.

congrats everyone! hopefully after 4/22 I will be able to come back here and join the party!

to the guy who quoted me I highly disagree with your statement. I have a below 3.0 cumulative GPA and my science GPA is only a 3.2, my PCAT is a 73 and I wrote a very strong personal letter and had some great LORs.

I stand by my statement that, at least in my case, they did look at the entire picture and gave me a shot because I've worked hard to make up for my past mistakes. The proof is in the #'s. If it was all #'s I wouldnt have an interview right now. 👍

GO GATORS!

THANK YOU! I still have to take physics 2 and bio2lab this summer :/ you're interviewing in the st pete campus tomorrow too right?

I am pretty sure that if it is not a pre-req they aren't going to care. I think all they want you to do is pass the pre-reqs and graduate (if your getting a 4 year degree). It will just show up as a W on your application but since you already have an interview then I don' think they will deny you just because of that!! They won't even get spring grades until this summer after you have already been accepted.
GOOD LUCK on the interview!

I cant find the group on fb. Is it possible to post the link?
Thanks.

I'm not trying to pick an online fight here, but the PCAT is the FIRST thing that UF looks at. They start at the top of the PCAT scores and work their way down the list from there. You got looked at because you have a PCAT score over 70. I was reassured on this today when I called UF admissions and they told me they are down to looking at people with above a 67 on the PCAT right now. I was told that with my PCAT score, I am most likely destined for the alternate list. Even though I have a 3.66 Science GPA, 3.6 overall, very strong letters of recommendation from Org. Chem teacher, Microbiology teacher, and a practicing pharmacist, as well as serving 7 years in the Marine Corps. All of this was overlooked because of my PCAT score of 58. So, yes, UF is biased toward PCAT scores or else I would have had an interview before you. I'm not upset though, I'm actually happy for you. I have other options. I am already accepted to 2 of my 5 schools and I am interviewing at 2 more of them in the next two weeks. UF is the only school that I am still waiting to hear from, it's just annoying that I haven't received any correspondence since I submitted my application. However, the UF admissions official I spoke with today said they are very backed-up and they are hoping to get emails out to everyone that applied by the end of May.

Well, I should have said that I respectfully disagree, but it seems like your kind of bitter about UF's methodology. Way too much emphasis on the PCAT? a 58 is only 8 points over the minimum to apply and is not in the competitive bracket. They can't please everyone, and if you're still interested in hearing back from them (which it sounds like you are or you wouldnt be calling and whatnot with all of your interviews lined up), I would maybe chill out on all the UF bashing here on a UF thread. It's a known fact adcom looks at this site, my membership here was listed as a extracurricular. Respectfully, I still don't think you're correct. I know someone who got in last semester with a 63 PCAT and 4.0 GPA, and she was interviewed during the first round @ gainesville.

No disrespect, but I dont think this is the proper outlet to vent your frustration. Everyone else participating on this thread seems to have a very positive perception of UF, this isnt the place to come bashing a school that the majority of us participating in this thread have a strong respect for. Again, no disrespect, but your tone is somewhat of a "downer" when people here are celebrating the success of their hardwork and the anticipation of hearing from back from a top rated pharmacy program. If you're no longer interested in UF as you say then maybe it's time to move along. 🙂

:eyebrow: I agree with you both. I understand his frustration but agree that the place to bash is not on the web for all (including possibly admission committee members)

good call bwg. i apologize to jdub if any of my posts came off as enticing. that was not my m.o. I'm just trying to stay positive and relate to others that may be in a similar situation as myself, bwg or jdub that there is hope, because it isnt all about the #'s.

For everyone with interviews today, how did it go? Mine was...rough to say the least :scared:

Ya I interviewed in the morning session at st Pete. Two extremely nice ladies interviewed me. I felt ok about it when I walked out, however a couple of the questions were very interesting. I hope I get in!!!! Why was yours rough? I'm sure you're just over analyzing it! You're fine 🙂

I drew a couple of blanks on some of the more interesting questions lol. I was able to come up with something but it felt like I kind of stumbled through some of my answers.

Well I can almost assume you are not the only one to feel like this. I mean it's not like I felt GREAT after mine...just keep a good spirit, try not to dwell, and we'll find out soon! Or atleast that's what I keep telling myself lol. I hope we both get in 🙂

Ah, everything that you just wrote made me so excited! After my interview today, I drove around the whole area for an hour or two to check it out.... I really liked the Indian Rocks Beach area alot. South Tampa I didn't get to check out, but I'm sure it's nice. I think I'll end up wanting a place on the beach though. Thanks for all of the input!

And "wazzz", I think you were sitting right in front of me today during the interview! I was the one who walked in last baha because I got lost along the way. I was about to say something to you on the way out but then you were already way ahead of me =\ And yes, I agree with you -- the interview wasn't the greatest. I didn't do bad, but I definitely didn't rock their socks off. I answered a few questions well, but the others I just fumbled through. I even had to ask the guy to repeat a question 3 times baha, twice-- and then I started to answer but got halfway through and forgot the purpose of what I was saying, and then the third. BUT as long as you answered and got through it without silence, I'm sure you're completely fine!
