University of Illinois c/o 2020 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm preeetttyyyy sure it's unreasonable to think that it would be 129 IS. I'd have to look it up, but there's definitely a larger split of IS to OOS than that for a class size of 130 this year (per the dean). I'm feeling lazy though, so you'll have to look up the expected ratio for this year.

Ya I don't think it is an unreasonable number honestly but I was just wondering if that was an exact number that was given by the office. Just my curiosity plus who doesn't like calculating there chances lol?

I can't believe I remember this from the weekend but they said 60 OOS and 70 IS. And they also said they'd offer 120 OOS invites and 85 IS with the assumption of a fair amount of people declining their spots.
Actually, some of us students here have been told the class of 2020 will be 50/50. So they may be changing it, they may not.

Also, good news: apparently the university is finishing construction on their own dime in the good faith that the state will pay them back when they get their **** together!

Oh I meant 129 IS were asked to interview! I've heard it's a 70/60 split for acceptance offers. Sorry for the confusion!

You end up with a lot more OOS students here than I think you do at most schools. I'm a first year and it seems like there are almost as many IS as OOS, but Penn told me last year they tend to go over 60% IS and they prefer it to be even higher.

For anyone who gets accepted and decides to come here, I am subleasing an apartment room at The Place @ 117 if anyone is interested in living arrangements already. It is 370 per month and they told me because I signed my lease agreement early, it will be even lower than that starting in July, but I found a house my girlfriend can share a bedroom with me in and I'm trying to sublease the apartment room. Also, the house I'm trying to live in is a big 3 bedroom that needs all rooms filled, so if you were interested in paying more like 520 per month, also let me know because I need room mates. Private message me for details about either!

Wow, so they do offer more spots than seats avaliable. I did not know that! Thank you

Wow, I was thinking 100 OOS offers with 120 wait listed. But I'll take 120 people being offered right off the bat!

Every school does this, particularly for OOS spots because they know people will go to their IS if accepted. Illinois is mid at price point, so some OOS will decline in favor of a cheaper OOS as well.

He definitely said 60/70 I remember that in the information session

I'm gonna wait and see, lol. It could definitely not change, but some faculty have told students it is changing. It could be that it's a planned change in the future or that it's changing this year. It wouldn't be the first time a school has said one thing and done another 😛

Just called the admissions office because I wanted to ask about my mailing address.

As of now, the letters have not been sent out yet.
They will be using whatever mailing address is listed on your VMCAS if you're accepted. So, if you're like me and has changed addresses recently, make sure you go into VMCAS and make sure your current address is correct!

Good luck to everyone! Fingers crossed.

Unless they've changed from last year, admissions decisions will come from the mail. They prefer that method.

It's a bit late for saying, but congratulations on your interviews, guys!

I'm hoping letters are sent by Monday at least!!! Anxiously waiting!!

I've been telling everyone that March 1st is when I'll hear. So if I get a letter early, I'll be able to plan a reveal thing if it's an acceptance. I'm thinking I'll order Illinois gear from their website and mail it and send them a text message telling them they have to open the stuff at the same time and call me

Is Illinois your in state school? Your number one choice?

Has the construction started again on the classrooms then? That's great news!

So tomorrow will be the first day letters could potentially be received (if they were mailed as early as Friday afternoon). Days be counting down!

Well theoretically, if they were mailed friday, I probably would've received one seeing as how I live on campus 😛

I believe they are starting in the Clinical Skills building first. Probably to avoid loudness during the semester, our path lab (current classroom) is just down the hall from our future rooms!

You guys are giving me second hand anxiety :scared:

Not bashing in your correctness here (cause you have a point!), but has after working as an RD this year, you'd be surprised at how long it takes for mail to get across campus. And that's if they have the right room.:yeahright:

We'll be fine! 😉

Huh? :eyebrow: You may have skipped a couple days there, hardcharger. If my weathered memory serves me correctly, letters are going out This Friday (the 26th).

Yes?

Well, she's not completely wrong. Dr. Foreman said that the letters could go out as early as last Friday. Best case scenario I guess?
Though it's probably more likely that they'll go out at some point this week. I'm gonna try not to worry about it until people start reporting getting their letters.

Yeah, I thought that the earliest was last Friday and the latest was this coming Friday. I'm just being hopeful at this point. Lol.

Ahh I hope so! Fingers crossed. I'm giving myself 3 extra days from when it is sent though since I live in florid /:

Thank you for updating us! How do you know though?
I know some people 😎 just kidding, but I did hear from a reliable source that decisions are being made tomorrow. I've also been on the edge of my seat about letters being sent from WI, so I wanted to help everyone avoid the incessant mail checking until it was truly time!

Ahhhhhh! So hopefully yes letters will be sent by Wedensday! Thanks so much for the update!

They're working in the hospital and they are definitely not trying to avoid loudness for the 3rd year classroom! I love trying to listen lecture over pounding on metal and screwdrivers. 10 more days thank goodness!!

I enjoy two Illinois students discussing their physical school together on an anonymous thread about their school on the internet. I don't know if I am the only one, but yeah.

Haha! Part of it is because each class is told something different about what's going on, so it's interesting to hear the differences. It's also a constantly changing situation.

We're expecting 3-5 inches of snow tomorrow FYI! I have no idea if letters were mailed today or if they will be tomorrow, but the storm may delay things a bit.

Noo! Let's hope this is not the case Goodluck everyone I hope people start hearing tomorrow!

The chances of it being tomorrow (snow or no snow) are slim to me. This is because the letters were probably put on the mail late in the day, after mail had been picked up from campus. The letters probably won't be picked up until tomorrow and won't be processed until tomorrow afternoon. It probably will be between Thursday and Saturday when people will hear, depending on how far away people are away.

Yes, that does make sense. Ugh, one can only hope right 😉
