I was on the waitlist last year. I did a quick search through my e-mail history to see when I got my first notification, and it was on April 27th, 2010. If the timing is similar to last year, I'm guessing they will wait to see whether the last major batch of accepted students send in their deposit checks by the deadline, which fits with this timeline.

Hang in there guys!
hey!! where was your spot on the waiting list last year?? Dr. Deyoung did mention to you where you at, didnt he???
I heard that the class this year will be cut off a little bit...i am afraid that we do not have a chance to be moved up on the list :(

It was 100+... I really felt like I bombed that interview, and apparently I did better this year.

I hope all the seat have not been filled. I really had my heart set on going to Henderson. I will try again next year. It was exciting to get an interview, but it just got me all riled up for nothing.:( Waiting is horrible especially when you have a family and require time for planning for a move. I just would hate if I had to do that in the span of three weeks.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. Kinda have my heart set on South Jordan and also have a family. The waiting sucks and I hope I don't have to plan a move in 3 weeks either. I was on the waitlist last year, too. That was a nerve-wracking summer. :(

Me too. Last year I was 100+. This year I was accepted right away. The interview is a huge part. I'm glad I got accepted early so I have time to plan and move.
I went through the same thing as you last summer, the waiting is terrible so I know how many of you feel. Don't give up though! :)

Same here, I was top 50 last year. I looked back through my email history and saw that I received the waitlist email on 4-27-10. By the first day of class I reached top 3, but just like you dave...it was a long summer.

thedave- I hope you get in to South Jordan. Good Luck.

Thanks, me too.

Me and the fam (wife, 2 kids) made a road trip out for my interview and while we were there, we looked at apartments, hoping we get into that campus.

Btw, out of curiosity, did any of you guys interview w/ Dr. Bhakti this year or last year, and how did you guys do?

I got Dr. DeYoung this year. :D

I interviewed with Dean Fanin this year. Last year I had an oriental female...whose name escapes me.

I interviewed with dr. Draper. He was really nice.

Hang in there everyone waiting!! I'm sure there will be people who don't send in their 1000 or who decline.

I look forward to seeing my fellow classmates in south Jordan!

hey sunshine!! when was your interview???
did you hear anything about the waiting list??

My interview was 2/22. I have not received or heard anything regarding a wait list. I did received a call to day from a unknown caller that did not leave a message. I am hungry for that number to be a 702 area code.

So by May 13th we should definitely know.

I am already looking at the at apply this Fall to USN, Pacific University, Crieghton, and UNM as my plan B. Although, I really would like Henderson to be my pharmacy school.

Was he the biochemistry teacher? I was interviewed by the biochem teacher and he was really hard to understand. I really expected him to ask me more questions. He mostly spoke of the increasing recognition that USN was getting and defended the curriculum. This was in response to my question regarding matching for residency and how to I would be able to distinguish my self from others without having a GPA. Not sure if that is why I have not been called. I would have loved to have Dr. Deyoung for my interview. I feel ripped off.

Summitguy,

Did you change you application a lot from last year? What do you believe increased you chances this year?
I need some tips for my app and hopefully another interview for next year.

Sucks. i was waitlisted last year and i was in the 100+ too. i reapplied this year and i did way better in my interview compared to last year. but i havent gotten an acceptance call yet... I dont know what im missing here.. maybe my pcat scores are too low or is it because i dont have a bachelor's degree? im getting close to being hopeless here..

hey gsicat, what are your stats?? Did you change your application a lot this year??
I heard that USN doesnt require BS degree and they base mostly on the interview....
I have 3.5 GPA and my PCAT is low..

Sunshine-

I didn't change much except a bachelors degree. Same pcat, similar gpa. I wrote that the year of waiting have me a chance to make sure this is what I really wanted to do.

I just heard from USN that the school is full and everyone paid their deposits so there will be no waitlist this year.

----APRIL FOOLS!! :laugh::smuggrin::laugh::smuggrin:
--sorry, had to do it :)

Don't rely too much if you have a missed call from a 702 number. Funny thing happened to me last year...

I got a call from a 702 number and I was all excited thinking it was Dr. Deyoung. It turned out to be a telemarketer call. I was pretty frusterated at that point! Thankfully, I ended up getting a call from Dr. Deyoung a few days later.

No, i transfer from community college......but i think i didnt perform well in my interview so i havent heard anything from DR.Deyoung.....how about u?? btw, r u international student?/

I too got a random 702 call after the interview (called back was a FAX line). It was too much of emotional roller coaster ride for me. So I put Dr DeYoung's number in my cell contact along with his photo. I had my cell glue to my left hand and wait for his head to pop up on my phone. He does call from his line and the number is not hidden.

There is still hope my friends!!! I received a call from Dr. Deyoung today!!! I was accepted to the Utah campus and given the option to wait list for a seat in Henderson when if a spot became available. (I am 18th on the list. Cross your fingers.) Filling out paper work right now. I am so excited I could lose my dinner!

He told me that the first wave of offers have until April 15 to complete their paperwork and submit their deposit. If they fail to do so, those slots open up!!!

He said that Utah had more seats left.

Suerte, Amigos!!!

I really would like to live in Henderson. It is closer to our home and family. I am not sure if I can endure the cold in Utah. I heard it snows up there. But I am extremely grateful for the opportunity and I am taking it where ever it takes me!

---------------------------
O GPA 3.6
S GPA 3.9
Academic Forgiveness Option
PCAT Really bad!!! 50% composite, but over 70% in each topic
Pharmacy experience: 21 years

I guess I am 100% committed to going here now. I am calling the other schools today and withdrawing my applications.

Why do that. You already paid the money. Let it play out. You can always email the dean at each school as ask him/her what your chances are. Be honest and tell them that you need to put a deposit for USN and wanted to know if you should do it or wait it out. They will be very honest with you.

Off topic:

Any Vegas locals starting at USN this fall that are on this thread? Ducdoo and I are trying to get a LV local gathering going to go catch a few drinks in celebration of our acceptance before school starts. Any takers? haha

Gotta get in our drinks now before we forget to during the semester... lol

Drinks or quick bite, anything goes for me. ^___^

Or to "the library" (if you are local and driven pass the billboard of 515). My gf told me I better not be at "the library" when I tell her I am in library. LOL!

LOL oh boy would I get in trouble as well. I'm in for food as well.. I pretty much love the stuff :D

Can any current pharmacy students list some good apartment complexes near the school? Or any recommendations or complexes consisting of other pharmacy students. Or whats a good area to live. Thanks!

I need info on apartments/rental homes too. I signed up for the roommate/rental list, but I would like to live alone. Plus I have parrots, and nobody would want to live with me anyway! =) What areas should I look in, and are homes or apartments cheaper?

do you have a bs degree?

Gsicat,

I do not. I have 3 associates and a certificate in Spanish/English translation studies.

I think what really helped me way my experience. I started volunteering in a military pharmacy at 13, became a pharm tech at 18, pharmaceutical inventory specialist 4 years ago and am now a pharmacy systems analyst. 21 years of experience.

My initial plan was to be a pharmacist by age 25... life happens. I love the world pharmacy and I am glad they gave me this opportunity.

Prior to finding out about acceptance to UTAH campus, I spent a lot of time researching condos and townhouses for sale near the Henderson campus. I used condo.com try zip code 89014 for rentals. Once I July roles over I plan to buy a condo near campus.

There are 1 bed/1 bath from 28k+ and 2-5 miles away from campus. Monthly mortgage can be as low as $127, but HOA fees are what kills you if you do not do your home work.

Henderson in general is a good area to live in. A lot of the crummier places are in the Las Vegas/North Las Vegas area so as long as you adhere to the general area of Henderson, you should be fine. But, on the flip side, as far as rent goes, I think Henderson is a little more expensive than Vegas. I said this earlier in the thread, but I think there is a bunch of apartment complexes/condos near the Sam Boyd stadium that seems to cater to college kids and, as some of the USN interns have indicated, to USN students as well. I think the complex name is Turtle Creek but I'm not too sure. I'll text my intern buddies and see if I can get the names of the complexes for you all.

ANDDDDD if anyone is interested, I have a couple of rooms in my house to rent out to student coming to the Henderson campus. I'm about 15 minutes away from school and I live in a relatively good area. PM me if anyone is interested.

You got the name right FarmDHI. Turtle creeks is on Broadbent Blvd and Silver Pines is on Russell Road. Both are walking distance to the stadium and next to a big park. Time it takes to drive to school is just shy of 15 min.

Silver Pines! That's the one with all the USN students living there I think... still waiting on my friend to hit me back with the name of the complex she is in. I know she lives with other students in the same complex so it could definitely be one of the two mentioned by duc.
