HEy guys
I was just wondering around how many osteo students go unmatched a year. And also what is the typical unmatched student look like. Is it more of a average student trying for a hard specialty or a lower student trying for an average specialty?

Yea i know how that is. SDN is full of a-holes, just thought you were one of them. haha I was only kidding around as well. You are forgiven but I am sorry as well.

In case you didn't already look it up 273 didn't match; 1353 did. 1672 didn't participate in the match.

As for the other question, I don't even know if there's a way to answer that. On example, though: one of the deans told us that one of the upperclassmen with about a C average and no publicataions to speak of spent all of their electives on neurosurgery. Some people just aren't realistic. While we did have a match in neurosurgery, I doubt it's the same person. Looking at the figures, I would assume that their are probably quite a few people who didn't get into ortho, since only one spot wasn't filled. For the others... I just don't know how you make that call. Typically about 90% of students get their first choice in the osteo match. So, there are obviously an awful lot of people picking primary care specialties.

SexPistol and Patel, that was really sweet. 😍

Seriously, it's nice to see people make up, forgive and forget and not hold perma-grudges on SDN. Props to you both! 😉
