Which one are you picking out of the two then? I thought the orientation was too long-winded and not very interesting or more informative. The financial aid was ok but could have been 15 minutes long.
Agree on all accounts. So many people kept getting up and leaving, I was pretty shocked. I was also expecting far from a different focus between the two schools. The UofL session was focused on diversity and rural service. I was SHOCKED that they had little mention of research which seems to be the direction of the entire rest of the University. Also, all the students seemed talked about how busy they were and I think I attribute this to the 8-5 schedule. Another big negative was the fact that tuition rates would be rising significantly each year compared to UKs locked in rate.
Lastly, I just felt like the people weren't as friendly. Maybe I was spoiled at UK where my interviewer and the admissions people remembered my name and things about me.
Its possible that there wasn't supposed to be a faculty presence there, but I was impressed that at UK all the department chairs and faculty and THE DEAN took time to come and meet and greet the new students.
EDIT: I should say I'm not totally sure where I am going, but I think I'd want to come to UL atleast for residency.
