Are the same loan forgiveness / repayment options available as with regular military personnel if pre-existing or undergrad loans are not already paid down before beginning the 7+ year active duty requirement?

Example:
- $40,000 old undergrad debt remaining after completing USUHS + residency training
- Begin active duty medical officer repayment year 1 of 7+
- Qualify also for loan forgiveness / repayment as active duty officer?

Dont quote me on this but I think after your commitment is completed, then you can re-up (Extend your service) for loan re-payment which will extend you for approximately 5-6 more yrs. I would ask a military health corps recruiter to determine the best action to take because I dont hear or have not seen this issue before.
