Hey IDBASCO,
I understand you were from IDAHO. Please relay your stats to us, and when you interviewed?
Thanks

I am going to ask that everyone try to avoid any kind of religious debate/controversy here and discuss the topic of Utah acceptances. If that isn't possible this thread will be closed and I will ask users to refer to the various "accepted" threads and other resources for this information.
Thank you,
DP
Why not the State of Utah stats? Because that's not who's applying. So you're telling me if 900 Mormons and 100 non-Mormons applied for 100 spots, 62 Mormons and 38 non- should get the spots? 7% chance vs. 38% chance?
The trib article is irrelevant because the people applying from BYU are more like 100% active and the U population is more likely to be the 41% quoted in the article....so drop my estimate from 80 to 75 and redo the math.
Then you point to the fact that your problem is the low # of women (with which I agree). The U, by your plan, should accept 50% women (that's what is in the state, I presume), even though something like 28% of the applicants are women? Just because they're women?
You're right about the low number of women applicants. That's not the University's problem (if it even is a problem). Culturally in Utah, women are less likely to be willing to dedicate the number of years and money required to become a doctor and thus less applicants.
Not to distract...congrats to those who have been accepted. I hope you will go into primary care and live and work in Utah, where you are needed, no matter where you come from or what beliefs you adhere to.
Well I will definitely not be attending Utah.In state tuition would have been very nice, but I think I'll be happier elsewhere anyway.
so I didn't get the email and I got my rejection letter yesterday. I think it's great that the U is the only rejection I've received. Good luck everyone.
Sorry about the unfortunate news..
I'm curious as to whether others who got/didn't get the email received any word..
So I am thinking at this point since I didn't get that e-mail, I will most likely be getting a rejection letter soon. I think if you did get it, it does not mean acceptance for sure, but closer than not getting it. Safe to assume?
Well I got my rejection letter in the mail today, dated 2/1/08. I am OOS, interviewed on 10/4. This is my second year applying so don't think I will apply to schools a third year because my MCAT will be outdated. Last year they sent my rejection dated January 1st. This is so weak. Good luck to all the rest of you.
The slow trickle of rejection letters, financial aid emails, sprinkled with a few acceptances is almost nerve-racking.
By which date did they say everyone would know their status?
I hear you. All I know is that we should know by the end of March.
I heard late-march to early April.. is this right? maybe I'm just making it up. I'd like to know by mid-march
I've also heard they had more applicants than expected this year, so that may push it back slightly.
Wonderful.. I'm sure that helps our chances
😕 According to those who received letters of rejection in this thread, none of them had received an email.😕
Accepted - University of Utah - johnbeck (interview 10/9, accepted 1/4 snail mail), zenaforever (interviewed Oct, accepted 1/3 snail mail), moe_4eva (Interview Oct, accepted 1/2 snail mail)

So far it seems that the only people accepted so far were ones who interviewed in OCT.
Anyone accepted who didn't interview in OCT get accepted yet?
It seems like the U of U has rejected mostly OOS applicants. I know of a few Utah residents that have been rejected so far but mostly those from out of Utah. Does Utah wait until March to deliever the majority of their rejections, acceptances, or both?
Is this true? Where are you getting this info? I only ask because it'd make more sense to deny IS applicants right now since they interview more applicants from Utah, correct?
hmm.. weird. I wonder if there are any current students reading this that could fill us in on when they heard. I was pretty sure most of them are from March.
I don't know how reliable this is, but I heard from one of my friends who knows someone on the admissions committee that the U is sending out acceptance letters on February 15th. With President's Day on Monday, I would guess that those letters will be arriving to us (hopefully) on Tuesday the 19th. I don't know for sure, but it gives me something to hope for!
