Hey Patiently Waiting,

Do you mean they currently have 100 people on the waitlist or that's how many they plan on having total? Seems like there are a lot of people still waiting to hear from ucla, so the waitlist number might actually end up being higher. Just wanted to make sure...but that's great news if it is only 100! don't they usually have a class of 120 and accept about 220?

When I spoke with the Admissions officer today, I only asked how many people have been put on the waitlist. So I guess the number will go up but not too much though since there aren't that many people awaiting the final decision at this point. The class is, yes, very full, and the school anticipates some withdrawals in the next few days. Anyway, it's only "my" guess that about 50% of the people will eventually get off the waitlist since they interview ~600, offer immediate acceptance to ~120, place ~120 (I factored in the potential increase)on the waitlist. Assuming half the acceptees will turn down the offer to go to Harvud or UCSF, there will be about 60 vacancies at the end of this process. Of course I can be totally off. What are your thoughts??

Must get appeal through..I will just drive down and show up in my suit and say I am there for my interview....Then see what they say 🙂

my online application status shows that a final decision has been made.

damn, i've never been so nervous before. now i'm going to be stalking the postman for the next couple of days.

I talked to one of my advisors today who is part of the office of outreach and student support services for UCLA med and she said that the guy who interviewed me probably never shows up at the meetings and that is why they are taking so long to review my file. That sucks!! these people don't even care... very upsetting. the guy doesn't bother to show up and mean while spots are being taken....

Hey Weca,

Who was your interviewer? I'm in the same boat as you, just called today and monotone guy told me it would be"a couple more weeks" and I'm wondering if that's the reason why.

my interviewer was Dr Seidel. Who was yours? He is the chief of Pediatrics and ER at Harbor. I know a second year who is in the adcom and goes to the meetings and she says she has never seen or heard of the guy.
 
Does anyone know the average post-interview wait for people accepted to UCLA?

My letter was sent 5/16!!!!!! I didn't think that I would get this nervous. OH MY GOD. I work graveyard and am supposed to be sleeping right now since I got off work an hour ago but I won't be able to sleep now. Oh well, I guess it'll be okay for me to fall asleep in lab tonight. I can just sleep in the big CaCl2 drums. I'm in the bay area right now so let me know what yours is if you get it first. I'm so nervous!!!
 
Okay, so I called and tried to get info out of them regarding the decision sent on 5/16 but the monotone guy told me that my status HAD NOT changed. How can this be? If my computer has the update then surely theirs does, right? Do you think this was his way of avoiding having to tell me that my status had changed and that it was a rejection? A million things are going through my head right now. I mean, what kind of letter do you send out to people the day after May 15th if you've been keeping them waiting for FOURTEEN weeks. If they were going to reject me why didn't they just do it back in February when I interviewed? All of the sudden I'm getting a really bad sinking feeling in my stomach. All of this can't be good!!!!! Help CaliBoy, let me know what your decision was.
 
Where in the H#LL is everyone, I need someone to keep me sane until I get my letter. I just don't feel too good about it CaliBoy and Ceez since the last two batchs weren't the best of news. It seems that good news only trickles out. Oh Well. Talk to me guys.

I sense it will be good news that's on the way since they've changed your status right after the date of most people's acceptance withdrawals (please don't hold me against if it doesn't turn out true). There's nothing you can do at this point except waiting a day or two the most to see the surprise. AND SLEEP girl!!!

Regarding the contradictory response the monotone dude gave you, ignore him. Believe it or not, when I saw "an interview requested" back in early November, I couldn't keep myself calm and had to call the office to make sure they didn't make any typing error. When I called in, the monotone guy told me my file was still under review for deciding if they should grant me an interview. I had to convince this guy a whole 5 minutes or so to tell him about the interview invite I saw on the screen, and finally, he put me on hold for another few minutes and got back, told me "I guess you are right". So speaking from my experience, just ignore him.

I was really freaking out, huh? I'm so wired that I might have to take NyQuil or something to get some much needed sleep. I hope you're right and that it is good news. I think that right now, I'd be glad with a waitlist. I'll let everyone know as soon as i get my letter. Thanks again. GOod luck to everyone out there.

Good luck on your upcoming interview!! I'm sure you're a very seasoned interviewee by now, but it's never too much to thoroughly review your file again. They ask you pretty much everything you have put in your appl.

Hope the interview turns out to be worth your effort and time. And again, :clap: :clap:

I'm inclined to think so, but the whole med school app process has taught me that nothing is predictable.
 
Based on past experience, it seems that most batches sent out from UCLA were all of the same letter---except that pesky 4/19 one which was wailists and rejections. So, we probably will all be getting the same letter, but its possible we won't.

Didn't receive the letter in the mail today. So its going to be at least another 24 hrs before we know.
 
SO I totally haven't been paying attention to this David Griffin or whatever he is...what is going on now? I was pretty much all ready to pack up and move to New York and now this is throwing a wrench in my plans ...

Can anyone please PM me and tell me what is up..all I know is he gave a huge donation or something. They aren't really changing the name of the school are they?

OH MY GOD CALIBOY CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I told you that you would get in, you're so awesome. I'm not even waiting to hear from UCLA, but I just wanted to congratulate you caliboy!!! So, if you get into UCSF, will you stay down in LA? To all the rest of you, I wish you the best of luck. It is a very good possibility that letters sent the same day as caliboy's were acceptances as well. And Scoob..kick some ass.

Souljah.. about UCSF, I just found out that I'm waitlisted. I don't really know what my chances there are anymore--they don't have wonderful waitlist movement. But if I do get in, then I guess there is a chance that I will go, but I'm not counting on it. Good luck to you though. I have a feeling that you are finally going to hear from them within the next few days!
 
YES- I just got my letter of acceptance at UCLA today!!!! It looks as though the acceptances are contagious. Congratulations to the other acceptees and I will see you in the fall. GO BRUINS!!!

By the way I interviewed late (May 1) so there is definitely still hope.

I can not believe this. After waiting for so long I finally got into UCLA. Yes. This was such a long and difficult process. I interviewed in early march. They said six to eight weeks. All of the batches were being sent out and I heard nothing. Every time I called to office they said another week or two. They did not even post decision sent on the web. It was sent out yesterday and I got it today. GO BRUINS. SEE ALL OF YOU NEXT YEAR. This is going to be awesome.
 
Still haven't received my final decision letter. 🙁 Right now I really wish the mail ran on Sundays!!!!! 😡
 
Has anyone heard of anything other than acceptances being sent out since 5/15. GrnLt posted(5/18 or 19) on another thread that he/she received a waitlist letter but I don't know what date that was sent out for sure. 😕 😕 😕

My letter was sent out on May 16th. So far it seems like i'm the only one who received the news that i'll be waiting for a few more months. I hope your letter is filled with the more pleasant message.

Okay, well I was getting a little excited considering that my letter was sent out on the same day with all the acceptances. However, now that GrnLt has gotten a waitlist on that day now I'm not so happy. Yesterday, I found myself figuring out how I was going to tell my boyfriend and parents that I got into UCLA. I was doing this so much yesterday that I forgot that I haven't even received an acceptance letter yet. I was in my own little invented reality. GrnLt's news was enough to put my butt back down and smack me around a little. I'm trying to stay optimistic but the longer I have to wait, the more I think about what I'm going to read when I open up that thin white envelope. This is torture!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> 😛 If only someone could hit me over the head so when I come to, all of this would be over.
