Agree but I’ve heard some schools look at that negatively and it can hurt you instead most likely if they told you not to
Yea I agree if they tell you not to. Otherwise it can help, hurt, or do nothing depending on the school and your approach. I think if you have at least one acceptance, you have nothing to lose by further expressing your continued interest to your top choice. You just want to avoid common things like writing too much or coming off entitled to a spot, etc.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I think it also has a more positive impact if you have some relationship/experience with the school besides just from applying. Although not everyone can have experiences with their desired schools, I think anyone can write how much they love the curriculum, fit, mission etc. but if you have some sort of research/work/extensive shadowing/volunteering/did a masters there etc at this particular institution it helps provide more background, is probably more believable and genuine, and I would think has a more positive impact instead of hurting your chances (at least I'd like to think so)

Just got accepted this morning PST and I'm still humming with endorphins.

This just goes to show that you can never give up during this process - I was all set to submit my 2019 primary this Friday and now I'm drinking mimosas while my hair dresser lobs off 6 inches. A weight off my shoulders and now a weight off my head. Thank you Waitlist Group for all the support, and I'm rooting for you all !!

I was thinking about dying the ends of my hair a funky color like pink or purple if I get an acceptance and then cutting it off before school starts, but if I don't that probably won't happen since I'll have to be working/volunteering and can't get too crazy 🙁

I did that too [emoji38]

In Texas the last 2 days there were 2 WL offers from Texas Tech Lubbock and 2 from Texas Tech El Paso.
I know there have been spots dropped at other Texas schools, so either
a) the schools are saving their grand reveal of offers for today and tomorrow,
b) offers are going to non-SDN members
c) SDN members have not posted their news
d) perhaps some TX schools have "over-offered" and do not need to fill the spots being dropped

In Texas the last day to make WL offers to applicants who already have a TX spot is June 1 at 5pm.
After that, any seat filling is taken from the pool of OOS applicants or TX applicants without a match thus far.

I did not designate all the schools I want to apply to yet. I’m hoping before my app gets verified I’ll get off a waitlist. Is this smart or dumb?

Thats what I did too. I only did 1 school and will add them as I go. So the day before secondaries are out, Ill send it to the first 10 schools I want to submit to and the ones that take a while to screen. Then add more as I go and hopefully catch an acceptance before I add all of the schools

I did that last year. It's smart. They don't get sent to schools until you are verified. So, once you get the verification email, that's when the clock starts ticking.

accepted to an MD school this morning (my first). Laughed, cried, had ice cream for breakfast... was hesitant to post because every time I see one of these posts I feel like ugh I wish that was me already. But I wanted to thank all of you for your support these past couple months of constantly checking this forum, and also to say that there is still WL movement guys!! My application was no where near to perfect so maybe this can be a little boost of hope for those still waiting. I'm hoping/praying/cheering/crossing my fingers for all of you!

Waitlisted at 5 schools (including my top 2) and accepted to 1! Feels so weird not knowing what state I'll be in just 2 months... Hoping to stay in my home state so that I can be near family & my s/o 🙂

PLEASE keep these coming! I understand why you might not want to post, but it's wonderful to get to join in your success.

Congratulations to everyone so far...I had a feeling today would be a pretty big day! Still hoping to hear about more acceptances! 😀

Applications won't be sent to med schools until June 29th. One more month to hopefully gain that acceptance!

Congrats!!!!!! :highfive: Was it Vermont?

Thank you!! And no I've heard nothing from UVM still, Im going to withdraw from the WL soon even tho that doesn't help much but I'm not sure if they have movement or not

Got accepted to University of Rochester for next year’s class! (through amsny program) After 7 waitlists with no acceptances, I am absolutely THRILLED!! Wasn’t really expecting much from this cycle with a 3.3 gpa. It’s been such a roller coaster of emotions

Best wishes to everyone still awaiting some good news

YOU GO!!!!!!! SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!

I see that a lot of top tier and private colleges have a lot of movement in the waitlists. Do state colleges typically move a lot? I’m not sure if I should hold out hope or not.

Top teir movement typically cascades down to lower tier/state schools. They should catch up in a couple of weeks.

(from texas) hopefully people not already holding a prior acceptance can start hearing back now

Unfortunately, no good news to share from my end yet, and I'm not that good at writing anything motivational either. But, I will say this: my favorite lesser-known holiday, National Donut Day, is today! Free donut deals are happening at stores all across the country, and each one of you reading this, whether you're celebrating, hoping, preparing to reapply, or looking at other career paths, deserves a treat. If you got accepted to your dream school, donuts are a perfect way to celebrate! And if you haven't heard anything and are giving up hope, I will say that, at least for me, it's really really difficult to be sad when you're biting in to one of those rings (or bars, domes, etc.) of fried yeasty sugary goodness. Go ahead and buy a dozen to share with your friends and family, or eat a dozen all by yourself! No judgment; again, it's been a tough year, and you all deserve it.

I got my first MD acceptance today! This was my second time applying and it feels amazing.

As hard as it is, if you have to reapply, you will realize you’ve learned a lot over the past year. Hang in there guys.

Texas news today: offers from UTSW and Long School of Medicine.
Here on out, only unmatched Texans or you out of staters 😉

Do you think the waitlist movement of Texan schools would do anything for us waitlisted in other places? Or not really because candidates from Texas usually just stay in Texas?

Most do stay in Texas. I can think of 2 who dropped an OOS spot for a TX offer and one who left TX behind for OOS. But many more SDN members keep a lot of info to themselves so I can’t make any useful statements on this

Out of 1,726 successful TX applicants, only 232 left TX last year.

Then maybe, just maybe, some accepted Texans will give up their precious OOS acceptances for their in state schools!

The TX applicants who go OOS tend to be recipients of significant recruitment $.

Now that it's June, I'm giving up hope on my waitlists...🙁 I'm wondering if it's time to throw in the towel and move forward with my current acceptance. I want to hang on a little longer to see what happens, but I'm tired of being in limbo.

+1 I feel the exact same way. It's tough and this application cycle has made me lose hope and confidence in myself at times, too. I'm moving on with my life, but would be ecstatic if I got off a waitlist- just can't be neurotically checking this forum 25x a day anymore... 😉
