well #1 got into his instate school so unofficially i may be #1 but it would be nice to be IN the school and off this darn waitlist...lol

I actually live in Minneapolis...I'm OOS even though I've lived here for 4 1/2 years because I was in school and you have to be out of school for a year before you can become a MN resident. My letter was postmarked 5/3 so I'm sure you'll get yours this week, mine just didn't have to travel very far! I'm sure you are definitely going to get accepted so you should post when you hear something!!

JKIM02,

If you're #1 or #2 on the OOS waitlist, I'm thinking that you can pretty much count yourself in (Obviously, I'm not 100% certain- only 99.9%). Are you waiting on any other acceptances or are you definitely accepting MN? 🙂

I got accepted to KS so Im waiting to hear back from MN before I make my final decision... and waiting.. and waiting... and WAITING!! :laugh:

I hate to sound impatient but I would really like to start getting my affairs in order and figuring out my loans/look for apts/etc!!!

oh btw if I get into MN i am almost certain I will be accepting my seat!!😍 (Growing up in socal near L.A. I think MN will be better suited for me 🙂)

Amlore, I'm on the MN OOS waitlist too, but I didn't get that updated waitlist status letter yet (I'm in CA). Did it mention anything about the selection process at all? Is their class full and spots will only be filled if people drop before classes start? I wish this process was more transparent. <sigh>

Anyone wanna call and ask if their class is full yet? Im a bit hesitant since last time i called them regarding the waitist I had just woken up and I sounded like a blithering idiot (voice cracking and all 😳)

JKIM, I'm in LA and as soon as I get that letter in the mail, I'm calling them up to find out what's going on. The last time I spoke with Karen Nelson, she was very friendly, but didn't give me any real information. I'm giving myself until June 1 to hear from MN and if not, it's Michigan State, baby!

hey all,

i'm still #1 OOS and have not gotten any call or anything. I'll post to let ppl know when the list is moving- I am going to UC Davis next year, so good luck to all of you!
 
My heart dropped when I saw you post Mr. Hobbs. lol. Congrats again on Davis and good luck to the rest of us.. hopefully MN wont be like KS this year and have a full class!*crossing fingers*
 
so i just checked my mail box... got my MN update letter. Still #2. *phooey
Im starting to realize that maybe their OOS seats are full. It states in the letter that the waitlist will remain open till Sept. 7 (which is when classes start btw). KS starts mid aug so perhaps ill wait till mid/end of June for MN if not KS here I come!🙂

since you know you're going to Davis, you should decline your spot on Minn's waitlist so JKIM can move up! 😀

I'm surprised, too. Although it probably has something to do with Minnesota's failure to do anything to woo in-staters like they do with out-of-staters. They really need to get on that. Especially when compared to Iowa State, it makes them look downright rude.

I wonder, too, why they are waiting SO long to call out-of-staters. You guys need to be able to start making plans!

I'd be very surprised if they are full. I know lots of people who turned down OOS offers and unless Minnesota invites WAY more people than they have seats, I would think they would get to the first few on the list at the very least.

I think they're just kind of slow, to be honest. 🙂 One c/o 2013er on the Facebook page said she was #3 on the waitlist and didn't get a call last year until this upcoming week.

So don't give up hope!

Was she an IS waitlister? Because I spoke to a 1st year at edinburgh who was OOS waitlisted at MN (~#20) and she got an acceptance call at the end of april last year! It's all very strange...

That's weird. She didn't specifically say, but I asked OOS alternates when they were called last year and she responded.

I'd actually encourage one of you call or e-mail Karen Nelson and ask what's going on. On one of the Minnesota threads from a couple years ago, someone called right before putting down a big deposit on an apartment at their second-choice school and the admissions office told them over the phone that they were in.

please do! I wrote them an email on Fri night so if I dont receive one back tomorrow I am definitely going to call during my lunch break on Tue. If you havent called by then I will def update you guys on what they say:xf::xf:
 
Ok, I just spoke with Karen Nelson in admissions at MN and she told me that as of now, the OOS spots are completely full, but that if anyone drops his spot, they will dig into the waitlist. She also said that while this year things seem to be going slower than usual, in past years, they have generally called at least up to #5 on the OOS waitlist. She assured me that from experience, any waitlist calls would come a bit later in the summer (July etc.) if at all.

None of this information, however, is definitive. The situation could change next week or not. At least you now know.

Still, I'm crossing my fingers for you all! Since there's been movement on the IS list in recent weeks as people got calls from other schools, maybe there will be on the OOS list soon too.

I'm currently #5 (but subtract 1 since Roy Hobbs is going to Davis so that makes me unofficially #4, I guess)

I don't think they admitted so many more OOS students than in the past. I just think that some of the students were not admitted to their first choice schools and stuck with MN instead.

Oh, I'm not saying that they admitted more OOS than in the past, just that they must admit more than they have OOS seats. I personally know of at least five OOSers who turned Minnesota down, so I thought you all would be a shoo-in for sure. 🙁

I loved U of MN, but at least I have other choices. Whether I'm at MN or Michigan, I'll still be a vet in 4 years. I just feel really bad for those people who don't have back-up options and don't yet have closure.
 
Not that it help any of you (my letter said I was now #10), but I declined my spot on the MN waitlist today. It was actually hard letting it go.

Does anyone know where Iowa State's alternate list stands? The last post on here said number 53 on May 3rd. Thanks 🙂
 
In response to my own question I called the admissions office at ISU and they said #58 is the next to be called. I hope that is good news for waitlisters like me 🙂

Thank you so much! Since I live in Stillwater already, I have all the paperwork done and in their office, and an official letter in hand. I can't believe this is real!
 
Just bumping this thread up so hopefully we will see some more survivors soon. But also, has anyone who applied to Tennessee heard anything about anyone getting called off the waitlist? After emailing and calling to the point of being obnoxious i'm still waiting for any kind of news 🙁

I'm kind of done with holding my breath, but the slight hope that I still have just checked the K-State c/o 2014 pictures and they have dropped to 124 if my rough calculations are correct.

Here's hoping for miracles and planning for the future anyway!
 
Starting to get anxious...and, I hate to wish away this upcoming three day weekend....but come on beginning of June :xf: ...any other IS OKSU waitlisters out there?
 
Just got a call from Purdue this morning as an OOS!🙂 Totally not expecting this, def bit of a curveball- Purdue was the last place of my waitlist schools I thought I'd get off of (due to their small class size).

Not sure what to think about it- I've been getting excited about Michigan State, already looking for apts and roommates, but I also liked Purdue and its $5000 a year cheaper... def a tough decision ahead

But just wanted to let you all know that while it doesn't seem so anymore WAITLISTS ARE STILL MOVING!

DPG, was purdue your first choice when you applied last year? that is a tough choice...we'll miss you at MSU...

I'm waitlisted from Purdue, and I have not been called from anywhere else. I'm crossing fingers to see if the wailist keeps moving. I really wish I would have received that call 🙁
 
just got the call from karen nelson and declined my spot (hard choice!). luck to everyone
