I will be an applicant for medical school (mostly MD, but some DO schools) in the upcoming cycle. I just received my MCAT score and wanted to make a preliminary list as my school's committee letter process has begun. I attend a public college in NY and am in my senior year. If anyone wants to take a look at my personal statement and help with revisions I would also appreciate that.

State/Country of Residence: New York
Ties to other States/Regions: Nope / Nada
URM? (Y/N): 25% Mexican 75% Asian (Paki)
Year in School: Senior
Undergraduate Major(s)/Minor(s): Bioinformatics major / Chemistry minor
Graduate Degrees (if applicable): N/A
Cumulative GPA: 3.827 (Hopefully >3.85 by graduation)
Science GPA: 3.798
MCAT Score(s): 510 (129/127/128/126)

Research Experience:
Literature review work for school journal (60 hours, but nothing published outside our journal)
Clinical research in pediatric hospital (surveying, rounding, paper editing) (52 hours, but just started recently)
Publications/Abstracts/Posters: None for now

Clinical Experience (paid or volunteer): 300 hours volunteered as a Medical assistant (gynecology for 3 months) and 2800 paid hours as Medical Assistant (pediatrics for 2.5 years). A mix of both administrative (front desk, insurance, EMR) and clinical (vitals, vaccines, lab testing, rapid testing) experience in both medical assistant positions.
Physician Shadowing: Virtual e-shadowing (25 hours) and am about to start shadowing an orthopedic surgeon

Non-Clinical Volunteering: Nonprofit charity cofounder (~350 hours over a few years)

Other Extracurricular Activities:
School cohort member for civic engagement (with scholarship)
Peer mentor for prehealth students in my school
Organic chemistry TA
Officer for 2 different clubs

Other Employment History: Camp counselor for 1 summer, dog walker LOL

Immediate family members in medicine? (Y/N): No
Specialty of Interest (if applicable): Open to anything but towards orthopedics like every other premed
Interest in Primary Care (Y/N): Possibly
Interest in Rural Health (Y/N): No

Medical School List
Literally every single MD school in New York:
NYU, Columbia, Sinai, Cornell, Rochester, Einstein, Stony, Hofstra, Buffalo, SUNY UP/Downstate, NY Medical College, Albany,
NYITCOM
Mayo Clinic Alix SOM? (SUUUPER REACH)
Vermont
Iowa
Wake Forest

I am open to any and all advice (however I am very unlikely to retake the MCAT). Dream schools are Mayo clinic and Cornell but they're looking like long shots now with my 510 MCAT. Please help me add more schools within my range and let me know which schools are a waste of time in applying to. Thank you all for your time!!!

Identify your self as URM. The Mexican is in your blood. If you speak spanish, double yes. Add Creighton, Colorado to your list. GL my URM dude/dudete.

NYU, Columbia, Sinai, Cornell

I get that you're a NY resident (and maybe URM) but these private Manhattan schools are massive reaches for a 510. Probably not enough research either.

The bolded will be donations.

Do you have any service with Hispanic communities? If not, I do not believe that you being 25% Mexican will have any weight. Any Spanish skills?

Here is a more realistic list:

Rochester (maybe)
NYU-LI
Emory
Tufts
Jefferson
Nova MD
U VM
Miami
George Washington
Georgetown
SLU
Albany
Rush
Rosy Franklin
NYMC
MCW
VCU
EVMS
Wayne State
Wake Forest
Netter
Temple
Drexel
Creighton
Tulane
Loyola
Uniformed Services University/Hebert (just be aware of the military service commitment)
Oakland-B
Hackensack Meridian
TCU/UNT
ALL SUNYS

Any DO program. Include UNECOM. I can't recommend LMU, ARCOM, RVU, Nova, BCOM, ICOM and LUCOM, for different reasons. MSUCOM? Read up on Larry Nasser and you decide. Avoid those new schools that haven't graduated a class yet, if at all possible.

As you wish to be close to home, start DO list with NYITCOM, TouroNY and Middletown, UNECOM, PCOM, VCOM, all LECOMs, MUCOM, CUSOM, KYCOM, WVSOM
