Hello wonderful folks

WAMC/ Advice on school lists- no preference on DO or MD: somewhat interested in rural medicine.

Undergrad cGPA: 4.0 (1 semester remaining)
MCAT scores: 510 (128/125/127/130)
(thoughts on retaking this? FLs were higher)

state of residence: MO
Ethnicity/race: White
Clinical Experience paid:
EMT: 250 hours since last July. I expect to have an additional 600-700 by the time I apply in May. Additionally I will be doing this full time during my gap year, and hope to gain well over 2500.
EMT certification: 150hrs I wasn’t sure about whether or not I should separate this from EMT, but my certification involved hours spent in RT and on the floor in the ER and pedsER, certainly a much different experience than the trucks. What do yall think?
Clinical experience Unpaid:
Community Clinic:40hr in rural MO. Uninsured pt pop.
International Mission Trip: 40hrs DR.
Non-clinical Volunteering:
Ronald McDonald House: House volunteer: 300hours.
Nursing homes: many different facilities- playing music for residents. 30hrs.
NMDP volunteer- just started.
Shadowing:
Ortho/Radiology/FM/EM/General Surgery/Urology
150 total at this time
Research: 800hrs
5 posters and a publication. 2nd author
Leadership:
Peer-mentor in a summer school program for disadvantaged middle schoolers- 200hours.
Other: Orchestra- 800hours. 4 different groups, including my university orchestra, semi-professional symphonies, gig groups.
Music lessons: 50hours: several instruments.

Many of these hours will be updated- I still have a semester to gain more experience in several of these areas. I will also be taking a gap year so most likely research/shadowing/clinical will all increase in that time as well.

Really need help with a school list. Thoughts on retaking that McAT with such a wide spread of subsections?

You are all wonderful people

Godspeed

Any DO program. You need DO schools on your list with your MCAT score.
I can't recommend LMU, SOMA, RVU, BCOM, ICOM and LUCOM, for different reasons. Avoid those new schools that haven't graduated a class yet, if at all possible.

If you think you can increase your score to 515, it would be worthwhile to retake!
if I were to retake would they average the two scores? Say I got the 515 and then now my new score is 512.5, does my school list change/do my odds of getting acceptance change? Could I increase my odds just as much by doing something to the rest of my app?

I feel confident I could increase the score. 515 maybe, 512 definitely. Just want to make sure I know how much it will help me before I do.

If your goal is rural medicine, a 510 should be okay at many schools, so it's a question how else you show mission fit. I would not retake unless there is a strategic need to do that.
