Western 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

I asked about this during my interview. It’s self learning, they encourage you to work with your peers. There is no tutoring center or similar student assistance. Professors have office hours, but they’re heavy on learning the material yourself.

When did you do your interview? And how many options that you can pick for your invitation?

I had my interview last week, I think it was the only day available so I wasn’t give options.

Is there No lecture or notes as a basis or foundation for the information?

Sounds like reverse classrooms, it does kinda worry me… part of me feels like it’s so expensive yet we won’t be getting quality lecture time?

Idk, that’s all the info they gave me and I didn’t have time to ask further questions

Had my interview at 12:20 today. Felt like I definitely bombed the first part but I think the second part went decent
Now we wait til March for decisions 😭

Congratulations on getting it done! I don’t think there’s really any way to tell how an interview went until decisions come. I’ve watched plenty of people who say they thought they did horribly in their interview get accepted (and I’ve been rejected after thinking my interview went well). It’s really subjective. Good job either way, and try not to go too crazy waiting for decisions!

Congrats to everyone who interviewed today! You did it!
The last communications I heard was at the end of Oct stating my app was still with the committee. Is there no other interviews being sent out at this point?

I think they’re still sending out interview invites! They started sending them out relatively late this year so I’d imagine they’ll keep interviewing into January.

when did you get the invitation?

when did you get the invitation?
I received it 12/5 and was given interview dates for this week and next week
From what I can remember from the last 2 cycles … i received an invite once in late November but also in early/mid January so I’m sure there’s still quite some time to hear back about an interview.

Do you guys think they gonna send more invitations after New Year cause the break gonna come soon?

Hey All! Current Second Year here!

Congratulations on those how those got interviews and to those who didn't, there will definitely be interview invites next year. We are currently on winter break up until the middle of January so we still got some time to go. Just relax if you can and enjoy the holidays with your friends and family! 🙂

Happy Holidays Everyone! Let's all hurry up and wait...not easy at all but we are almost there. ;*)

yes it is a just a student panel where you can answer questions about the curriculum, or anything etc. It will not impact your decision if you can't go 🙂

Well that's exciting! Good luck and breathe, its not that bad, just behavioral questions in conversation style. You got this!

2nd time applicant!! Interview invite received earlier today around 5pm PST 🙂 hopefully this years interview goes better than last year! Goodluck to everybody, can’t wait to hear more good news from everybody!!

Bro this application cycle has me so messed up I was looking at aviation schools this morning 😅 I can calm down a little bit now
Rooting for you! You got this, you're gonna kill your interview!!!

Got an OOS interview invite!!! Interview is January 21, I’m so nervous but excited as Western is my #1 choice!!!! I hear the PBL really works for some people, not so much for others, but I have a super hard time focusing in lectures where I can’t apply things directly and learn best “on the job” so I’m really excited for that format. I’m more so worried about the idea of putting all our notes into a shared file within our class and focusing individually on more specific topics. I feel like I take notes in a way that works particularly for my brain and am worried about understanding the concepts fully if someone else writes them out; any current students have any insight on that??

So excited for you! Jan 21 seems late in the month. Aren't they back on the 3rd?

They only had interview availability the last 2 weeks of January at least when I schedule mine a couple hours ago

Congrats to everyone that got an interview! Quick question tho: for anyone that got an interview are all of your pre reqs done? I took physics 2 lab and my other upper bio pre req this fall and I just got all my grades back yesterday. I was thinking about sending the transcript over to them today so it shows complete on their portal but is it even worth it? I haven’t gotten an interview and although it’s only like 15-20$ to send it to them if I’m just gonna get rejected either way I’ll keep my 20 and use it to buy someone’s gift

I haven’t sent over my transcript for micro or physics and got an interview!

I have statistics in progress still. They know that I’m doing it but it won’t be done until spring. As long as you put those classes in your planned courses, I’d say you’re good

Thank you!!! Yeah, I scheduled my interview an hour after I got the email invite and they had dates from the 14-28 but the 21st is the earliest I could do with my work schedule

In real retrospect, this is not a didactic school so you will have to reform to the new learning style. However, LIs (learning issues or focusing individually on the specific topic) is just a small percentage on what you will be doing. Realistically, it shouldn't take more of a few hours to do. When I am done with my LIs, I will then read the other LIs that my classmates have done or what me and a lot of my classmates are doing are making collaborative study guides and share notes. That way if we miss something than we know or we just contact the professor. It's really not as bad as you think it is. I actually learn better with this method and it has shown when I did summer internships or I am being quizzed from the professors.

Oh interesting!! What makes up the rest of the curriculum if learning issues are just a small percentage?? I thought it was more focused on that

For anyone that has interviewed already how was it? I know it’s a more holistic interview style so any tips?
