Any rejections yet?

Congrats to those accepted!
Can those accepted maybe share their stats (gpa, experiences etc) šŸ™šŸ½
Cumulative GPA- 3.78, Science GPA- 3.7, Last 45 GPA- 3.92- All my pre-requisites were A's except for OChem 2 which was a B
2k+ hours working in a small animal hospital
30 hours working with a vet on a variety of farm animals
100 hours volunteering at a sea lion rehabilitation center
700 hours working in a shelter
100 hours of research on a deceased cat with osteosarcoma
Letter of Recs- 2 small animal vets (1 of which I know was extremely positive and who I am close to) and my Hospital Manager who is an RVT (also very positive)

I don't know if this helped my application but I worked minimum 24 but typically 30-32 hours a week through all of undergrad. Nearly broke me but I got through it. Best of luck to all!

somewhat non-traditional student here, gpa was 3.54 (but was a 3.42 when i applied), did my first 3 years of undergrad full time and then dropped all my classes for a semester due to declining mental health and started working full time and took another year and a half to graduate only doing 2-3 classes at a time. explained this in the vmcas explanation statement and specifically stated that i learn better through applied/hands on learning than didactic lecture (which is why i feel western was the best fit for me). as far as experience goes, i had overall about 4,000 hours of small animal experience mixed between GP, urgent care, and emergency. volunteered at a rescued farm animal sanctuary, raised a service dog in training for a volunteer organization, had some volunteer hours from high school with raptors, did an independent study working with clicker training sheep, and a few random large animal experiences here and there (mostly shadowing), and some experience volunteering with lab animal husbandry. also have a certificate in veterinary assistantship i got online through penn foster. i did an application review with one of the schools i got rejected from and they said the main reasons i didn’t get in were GPA, and one of my LORs was more generic while the other two were outstanding. they said my application would’ve been stronger with research experience but that a lot of people don’t have it and that wasn’t a deal breaker! i will say i did get rejected from every other school i applied to so this probably isn’t the ideal candidate all around but it only takes one acceptance and western was my top choice!!! my AuDHD brain is gonna thrive here lol

at the end of the day vet school acceptances are truly a numbers game, just be genuine and let your personality shine through, and everything will work out in the end šŸ’•

Stressed! Got an interview last year and didn’t get in. Still have heard NOTHING, no interview offer, rejection, update, anything.
I’m in the same place as u rn. Do you remember ur stats from last year that got you an interview?

So right now there are people:
-accepted
-accepted off waitlist
-waitlisted
-interviewed with no news
-no interview with no news

And none rejected? I wonder what the numbers are looking like. This is so confusing!

3.6 GPA last 45 units
I think 3.3 overall GPA ???
6 letters of recommendations, 4 from DVMs
5000+ hours large/small/er/gp
VA Controlled Substance License
Few other random class certifications
Can’t remember all / specifics šŸ™

This year’s application is bigger and better so I am suprised I haven’t heard yet…this is my 3rd time applying.

Does anyone else live in the LA area and will be commuting? I’m not sure if I should move a bit closer but moving just creates a whole new stressful situation for me and my dog. Rn I live with a roommate who also has a small dog and he really needs company or he gets super anxious. We also help eachother out with taking care of the dogs if one of us is home late. I also have moves a lot so it’s not something I want to do necessarily. Does anyone know the schedule for being on campus? And also wondering how often students go on weekends and stuff to study like for anatomy lab.

Hello everyone and Congrats on your recent acceptances. My name is Andi Martin, I am a current first year at WesternU. I wanted to let you know that we have created a Facebook page for you guys to get information before moving here and starting school. Log into Facebook

why is it taking so long. Are they even doing interviews anymore bc if not I’m just gonna end in that I’m getting rejected.

I feel that way too. I mean I haven't heard anything at all since I applied in September. There's been no update to my portal either. I'm just assuming rejection at this point.

I got an interview but since then no update so I’m thinking rejection too :/ but trying to keep my hopes up. šŸ¤žšŸ»

Does anyone know if they release decisions in waves or if we can receive an acceptance at any moment? Just want to know if I need to be obsessively checking my email lol

I also live in LA and will be commuting! Actually in SFV so a little farther than if I lived in DTLA. I asked a couple of doctors I know who went to Western what the schedules were like and one said sometimes she was on campus 9-5 and other times 9-3 or 9-12 (but she lived nearby) and both said it was about 17-18 hours of class a week depending. I’m sure we’ll get a better idea of the schedules once we register in July!

Can u be on the waitlist if u didn’t get an interview
Does anyone know if they will continue interview in May as well??
As far as what they've said when ive emailed them, they will continue to interview through April but i'm not certain about May. However I don't think it is possible to be waitlisted without an interview unfortunately. I know its not the answer you want, but i do understand as I also have not gotten any updates or an interview and feel how hard this is.

This cycle unfortunately is definitely not like their last two cycles
From what I saw all decisions were sent same day including rejections

Very odd that it seems like even those rejected haven’t received any update

Yeah I would’ve thought they’d add more people to the waitlist after decision day because it’d explain why some haven’t heard back at all

Maybe more people accepted than they thought

the end of the month is slowly approaching and still no update. Has anyone emailed if they will send any updates cause this is ridiculous.
I emailed them and this was the response again

I got the same copy and paste response twice. One of my good friends from undergrad just got in off the waitlist! I still haven’t heard anything, radio silence. No interview no update no rejection. Hoping for second shot at interview!

When did they get the notif?

Hey! I’ll be living about 60 miles from campus and will be commuting!
