1. I have an interview at Western at 8:15, February 7. The website said to expect to be on campus for 4-5 hours. I'm flying in the night before and getting a hotel for that night, but was planning on staying with my boyfriend after the interview. However, I know some hotels have really early checkout times, like 11 or 12, and there'd be no way I could get back to the hotel after the interview in time -- I'd have to check out before I left for the interview, and I'd have to bring my luggage with me. Is there somewhere on campus I'd be allowed to store things, like pay lockers or something? I could probably condense my luggage down to just one rolling bag, but I'd prefer to not lug that all over the campus and all through my interview. :-/

2. Does anyone know when Oregon State starts sending out interview offers/acceptance/rejection letters? I'm an in-stater.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Athena

I rented a car from the airport last year (for like $25) and kept my luggage in there. There's no storage on campus. Sometimes motels will hold your bags for you until you head back to pick them up. The rental car was the easiest for me.

Thanks! In Oregon you have to be 25 to rent a car so I thought I was sunk (I'm 23)... but it looks like in CA some places will rent to those 21+. Whew! That will probably be what I'll do, then. Thanks 🙂

My fiance works at Enterprise and they will rent to persons under the age of 25, you just have to pay an extra fee ($15/day). He also said that there are Enterprise locations in Oregon....so you wouldn't be completely out of luck. Granted, you are from Oregon, so you wouldn't need it anyway, just thought I would let others know!

A lot of other places just charge an extra fee if you're under 25, so ask around if you have no luck!

I interviewed at Western last year and was able to leave my suitcase in the admissions office. They had no problem holding my things during the course of the day.

When I made my reservation at the hotel, they said I would be able to stow my bag with the front desk...I'm not renting a car, as the hotel (Shilo) has a shuttle to/from the airport and the university. If I get the sense the shuttle is unreliable when I arrive, then I'll call a taxi.

I know it's probably a little too late for this, but if anyone is interested, Kellogg West at Cal Poly Pomona, might be a cool place to stay. It's a hotel on the CPP campus, run by the hotel/ resort management program. I think it might be a cool place to stay if you're seriously considering Western because, from my understanding, most of your large animal rotations will be at CPP. This would give you an opportunity to see the facilities and orient yourself with Pomona. Here's a link if you're interested: http://www.kelloggwest.org/

Good luck with interviews!!! :luck:

Oregon State is sending out interview invites as we speak and then they usually will decide at the end of Winter term or the beginning of Spring term. They do interviews every friday (from what I undestand) all of Winter term. I had my interview on Jan 11th.

FutureRPh - you say you're pre-pharmacy, and no one else has said anything about ongoing Oregon State interviews! Are you really applying to vetmed?

Thanks for that advice! I'm going to look into that! 🙂

I also applied to Oregon -- haven't heard anything.

I wish they'd interview OOS people, but they don't. So I'm just waiting to hear back eventually. Sigh.
