There's too many assumptions you're asking us to make with almost no data, especially since you're just a sophomore. Relax and kick up your grades and study hard for the MCAT. Did you fix the reason why your GPA is so low currently? How can you assure that you will bring it up to at least average? By the time you apply, maybe DO schools will be even more competitive, who knows? Aim as high as possible on your MCAT and do shadowing/volunteering. It's too early to be discouraged already!

Rising trends are always good.

Hey guys! I was hoping to get some insight into my current situation. I'm currently a sophomore in college and my gpa has suffered a lot for a number of reasons which I won't get into at this point in time. Despite my best of efforts, my gpa falls belows the average percentile at ~3.2 cGPA and ~2.8 sGPA.

If I scored great marks from here until I graduate I could maybe get to ~3.4cGPA ~3.3sGPA (rough estimates). Assuming these grades, with average EC's, URM, and a good MCAT, would I have a shot anywhere? (MD or DO, doesn't matter). I'm already planning to take a gap year (applying my senior year instead of junior) in order to hopefully boost my GPA even more, but would prefer not to have to take even more time off for economic reasons.

I'm feeling pretty discouraged, knowing that my chances are nill even if I get an upward trend from here until I graduate and was looking for a second opinion. Thoughts? Advice?
