Thanks ohcdn! But BU is notorious for giving out loads of interviews, so I dont consider this much an honour. Does anyone know the ACTUAL statistics for interviews vs. acceptances for BU?
 
hey man, i still havent heard from them yet. but think of it this way. your chances got much better with this interview.

yeah but it is still NA for all of my schools even the ones i got interviews for.

Damn Perfect, we got similar stats, so I guess Ill be looking for a Columbia rejection soon. Thats too bad, because I was hoping Columbia would look past my first year and see that I did pretty decent in my upper years. It would be a dream to goto Columbia, but dreams shall remain dreams! My first choice is still Nova, but I have heard NOTHING from them....too bad though! 🙁
 
also contacted UNLV and was told that my app would be on hold until the 1st round of acceptances are sent out.

yeah, that should tell me a lot i guess.

got an invite from Case today for ALTERNATE list...geez they fill class that early... just wasted my money on aadsas & their school fees.
 
no i haven't heard anything from BU or NYU. i seriously thought that i should have heard from NYU by now, but i guess i was wrong.

maybe they think i am a terrorist and that i may bring the plane down on my way to NYU interview:laugh: :laugh:

sorry, i know thats not funny but i am starting to get really nervous and upset now.
 
I did not hear anything from NYU either, and JUST heard from BU, where my interview with them is not until like mid Feb.
 
Serina...great job!!! Im waiting to hear from Nova and UNLV as well....when did you send out your AADSAS application? And, out of all the schools you applied to, what is your first choice?

Hey Perfect !

Do you glad that you have applied to 36 schools ? If you did your homework before applying, I bet you would elimimate Indiana, and Uconn from your list (in-state schools).

The moral story: if you have average stats, apply many schools as you can afford. You will never know what criteria each school has.

I could be completely wrong, but I thought perfect had an interview at Uconn???
 
I dont think the post was sarcastic. The poster was suggesting that Perfect34 would NOT have had any interviews if he ONLY applied to schools like BU, NYU, etc.

So good thing he applied to 30+ schools.

Thanx for your clarification. This is exactly what I mean. Some states schools do indeed interview out-of-state applicants despiting their low stats. You'll never know which one, so just apply as many as you can afford.

Stay away from Ohio State. !!😡 😡 😡
 
Just got a letter from Temple asking for the money. That school is slow.. they received my application a month ago...and then it will take them "6 weeks" to give my application an initial review.... 🙄

Comet, did Temple send you a secondary or just simply asked for the money? They haven't sent me any thing yet.

I don't think Temple requires a secondary, just go ahead and send them the money. I got interview invite from them without the DAT/fee, although I took it since then.

Oh god. yes, i am sooooo glad that i did. its very interesting how many people jumped and were shocked that i had applied to those schools. i have to be honest. i really didn't have a clue who would give me a chance and who wouldn't. with that siad, it was only smart to give myself as many chances as i could. i know that my under grad stats aren't attractinve, but i am more than determined to succeed beyond anyone's expectations in dental school.

-got the secondary from UDM. it consists of basically 2 questions.
1. will you retake the DAT?
2. will you be taking any more classes eventhough you have graduated?

As mard already said, they dont have a secondary application. The form that i received only asks for the address and $$$. There is an application that you fill out at your interview... it has an essay section too. oh!

Interview invite from USC - Dec. 5th.

So, if I don't rent a car, how can I get to campus? Any knowledgeable LA folks around here know how that's done? 🙂

There are busses. I personally dont recommend this.

Rent a car, you'll be happier.
 
Maybe try to stay somewhere near the campus or with a student there. That way you only have to take one cab (from the airport to the hotel). Are you flying in? Do you know anyone who lives in L.A.? Maybe they will drive you to your interview.
 
I got an interview for Detroit-Mercy last week. The interview is this Thursday.
 
I just got an invite from NYU. Although I'm not interested in the school, I'm still thinking of going just to see NYC for the 1st time.

Yeah, I guess I should go there to see what NYU has to offer. But I'm so in love with Tufts that I dont know if I want to take the trouble to fly over there. On the other hand, I have always wanted to visit New York City. Decisions decisions...
 
I just got an invite to Meharry in Nashville. I have already had interviews at UT, UK, U of Louisville, and U of Alabama and now I'm not sure if I want to go to the interview...what do you guys think.

Well shoot, if you are a future NYC taxi driver like your avatar says, you definitely need to visit!

The requirements for NYC cab drivers:

1) no English speakers need apply.

2) must cut off 20 other drivers in 5 minutes.

3) must run down 30 bike messengers in 5 minutes.

4) must flip the bird at 60 times a second.

5) must be able to sense where the traffic jam is... And drive right into it with a paying passenger aboard. :laugh:

Just kidding, of course.. 😀 NYC "medallion" cabs are legendary and they will get you where you need to go in this great city.

Even though you know you are going to Tufts, at least you can check out the postgrad programs at NYUCD/Bellevue/VA (they are all in the same complex) and see if they might interest you for after you finish your DMD from Tufts. Good luck!
 
AHHH FINNALY
I got my AASDAS summary in today, the GPA is all calculated properly and it is about what I expected: 3.67 overall.
I have two interviews coming, with a long long brake in between. UCONN: Dec 6
and Feb 5 for COlumbia.

I hopefully will be getting more interviews soon. STONY is the one I am really waiting for and NYU. Want to see NYU even though i think i am a bit sick of NYU undergrad and want a change. I"ll update my appliction status as it goes in the future.
I just wanted to ass AASDAS sucks! over 400 dollars for photocopies and still managed to screw up!

Recieved an invitation from U of michigan. I probably won't go. The tuition seems much more than I expected. I have had my UCSF interview and I will have my UF interview tomorrow. I'll wait and see what will happen untill january. I hope I will get in one of these. They are my first choices.

Waiver of Nonresident Tuition Application. Funny, cuz I thought I was done filling applications out.....
Does everyone receive this application? If I receive this waiver, I get in-state tuition there- YAY!

I just received an invitation to an interview at NYU and cconfirmed an interview for the Mon after Thanksgiving weekend. I figured the interviewers should be more relaxed and happy after the holidays.
Can anybody tell me if NYU gives a lot of interviews like Boston?
 
I just scheduled an NYU interview for Jan 12th. I made it after dec 1, so I am not taking an interview spot away from those applicants who would really like to go to NYU.

I received the waiver as well....sure would be nice to not have to pay out of state tuition. Do you think everyone that applies gets sent this email, or do you think they only select some....I would like to think the latter, it would make me think my chances are pretty good of being accepted.

Thats mostly me paying homage to one of my favorite movies "Taxi Driver". The dream is still to become a dentist, being an NYC taxi driver will be my weekend job😀.
