I share the same dilemma.I'm always thinking. It's called being an over-thinker.
I share the same dilemma.I'm always thinking. It's called being an over-thinker.
Someone started looking into his blog and facebook and twitter (his identity was on his blog) and it began to appear he was not as he claimed. There was a thread about it which the mods deleted (no callouts allowed), it was discussed in some existing threads (earning me a probation for being off-topic), and then he disappeared. After deleting his blog page and claiming it was due to no longer wanting to pay the hosting cost, of course. To quote the sleuth that was digging into his various web presence:
"
It was just awful click bait titles like "Three secrets that will guarantee you an acceptance to med schools... You won't believe #2!" Along with stolen clip art and pictures of Minions as doctors. It legitimately looked like someone's grandma made it. If you look through his twitter, which shared the same name as his blog, you'd find that he also had a similar website about finance that was really just an ad for whatever pyramid scheme he was trying to do at the time.
"
Iirc he was supposedly a white male with a LizzyM in the mid 60s who went to 20+ interviews and got into 90% of them. I think that's what got suspicions aroused, underdog inspiration stories are great but at some point it starts getting likely to be just another elaborate fake story/identity on the internet.
... COUGH 😉 welcome to the club... wait, did I join you, or did you join me.... now, lets think about that...I'm always thinking. It's called being an over-thinker.
You guys should just date alreadyI share the same dilemma.
I speak for everyone here that knows the two of them:You guys should just date already
You know , people can like/comment on somebody's post , find them funny/interesting, without having "the hots" for them. Especially on a public forum. That may be tough to grasp, but this isn't High School. You guys should just date already

Nurses tend to work 3 X12. Shouldn't have an issue finding time for interviews.Let's not get too far off topic. Back to the speculation...
Yeah it's really not about the time. Just about how illogical and pointless it is. Especially when you add in the hassle/cost/stresses of flying.Nurses tend to work 3 X12. Shouldn't have an issue finding time for interviews.
You really slipped that humble brag in smoothly. 👍Yeah it's really not about the time. Just about how illogical and pointless it is. Especially when you add in the hassle/cost/stresses of flying.
I was pulling my hair out by interview number 2 and didn't bother shaving or thinking about why I liked the school beforehand by interview number 5. And all my interviews were less than a 2 hour drive lol

humblebragIt ain't bragging if it's true. Data points don't lie. If that's what happened, then that's what happened...
You are drawing line without knowing if he/she is proud or simply stating the facts. Go off of what ya got and not what you want to see. Data points don't lie.humblebrag
/ˈhəmbəlbraɡ/
noun
1. an ostensibly modest or self-deprecating statement whose actual purpose is to draw attention to something of which one is proud.
"kb1900 may not have intended to brag when he said the he 'didn't bother shaving or thinking about why I liked the school beforehand by interview number 5,' but the intent isn't relevant because cactusman was just joking."

Now that's a joke and not a humblebrag, @minimanBy interview 23 I just decided to go in my birthday suit

HA! I remember that thread,IIRC the guy had a decent SDN post history going back to when he took the MCAT. I know he got at least a 514 and his GPA wasn't terrible but nothing special. If he had URM going for him too his story isn't that unbelievable. The only thing I didn't understand was how anyone could afford going to 20+ interviews. He also started that "where are you interview pens now" thread which was super pompous haha
Sorry it makes you feel uncomfortable when on person believes in another person enough that they are willing to be that guy.C'mon, don't be that guy right now. You're being that guy. And nobody likes that guy.
1) Please do not call me "kid"Sorry it makes you feel uncomfortable when on person believes in another person enough that they are willing to be that guy.
I am always taken aback when we preach tolerance and love throughout the hallways, but people can't act out simp things such as believing the best in a person.
Need or no need, we cannot determine the full functionality of his final paragraph... was it a statement trying to make people realize what he went through... and thus looking for some sense of pity. ( not bad to recieve... despite what some may say.)
People are a tricky thing, emotions can get in the way of pure logic of what was needed. Could he be looking for self affirmation by using pride, yes... could it be simply a sliding statement, yes. Could it be a way to receive some sort of pitty, yes.
Again the functionality is not know, and can never be fully know. ( Consider biologist are still learning about the functions in animals, it is safe to say that you can't tell the function of a short paragraph on an anonymous board online.)
Right now I'm a bit pissed with you all for your demonstative exploitation of a simple sliding statement in a paragraph. People can do what, seems to lay people, great things, but to them it's just a day in a life. It is all in the reception of the message.
If you indeed believe in tolerance and love, then please please please try to show it
@mwsapphire ( yes a section for you as I trusted you more than those who posted)
I understand the basis of humor( this is using exaggeration as a form of entertainment). He's pointing back to the OPs question about DoctorBob... in fact he is using humor as an attempt to set a logical trap. ( would I give the benefit of the doubt to one but not the other?) So yeah, a bit more than just humor... catch that? I'm especially upset with you. To think I can't understand the basics of what the difference of humor and statement which was a logical argument disguised as a joke. Honestly?

Lesson cut short, kids, practice what you preach. I can tell when someone is BSing me vs simply telling the truth of their life. ( I have called out false post suicide posters here on SDN, and they have admitted as such.) I know that when I tell people I'm taking calculus they tell me to stop bragging even though I simply stated that I was taking calculus. Reception is key. If you cannot accept that one persons average is your highest sucess then you had better straighten yourself out and reorient yourself. Love and tolerance kids... I will be only intolerant of intolerance. But can we practice it is the question...
I shall retire my argumet on this thread. For all who know me, this is the time to begin to get the last word in as I will no longer be replying to you here.

Well this progressed in the most SDN way possible lmaoIt ain't bragging if it's true. Data points don't lie. If that's what happened, then that's what happened...
Certainly not how I saw it when I typed it that's for sure!Except there was no point in including the number of interviews except to humble brag about how many he went on. He got his point across in the first paragraph, but could have included the second paragraph without the numbers.
Also, doc bob was totally a scammer. He got found out and bounced. Or maybe he wasn't. Weird how he left if he wasn't though.

What did I even just read?
Certainly not how I saw it when I typed it that's for sure!
My thinking was more like
>lots of people I met on the trail interviewed at a million places
>everyone shared feelings of burnout, school presentations getting monotonous, joking about obnoxious buzzwords or how to skip financial aid presentations etc.
>a good number of people interview at 6 or more places during the cycle. Certainly a high proportion of the people who can speak to the absurdity of interviewing at "like 23 schools"
>post my experience to back up my claim
Anyway it's still good humor that gave me a good laugh to realize how my comment could be perceived and wasn't tactful lol

Depends on where you go to school? I guess if it gets a difficult rep due to certain professors then maybe idkWho thinks taking calculus is something to brag about? It's the first course in a several course series that is the basic foundation for math. That's like bragging about taking college physics or gen chem.
I would doubt calculus would be anything but a 100-level class at 95% of universities. For comparison, even though gen chem can be viewed as a "hard" class, I wouldn't use "I took gen chem" in an epeen measuring contest.Depends on where you go to school? Would calc based physics count. Jk. I gain validation through my mutant MCAT score.I would doubt calculus would be anything but a 100-level class at 95% of universities. All those Dark Age artwork memes would even make @Healer@1994 cringe.I remember when he was fight clubing himself. It shut down the well of the meme based ii thread.

it's called Spanish
What happened to @baratheonfire tho?
Pardon my ignorance, but how is this the same? There are people who are Hispanic whose native language is not Spanish.
Wait , what? That was not a confirmed suicide.Last I heard, he advocated suicide in a thread that an unmatched Caribbean grad made and then the grad committed suicide. Posters threatened to tell the school he was accepted to, so he disappeared.
