So I applied last cycle but I did not get accepted anywhere so I am applying again this cycle. Does anyone have any ideas of what kinds of things I can do this year to increase my chances? If I do not get in this year, I have to do something so im wondering what kinds of programs people who were not accepted applied to? My school is not very helpful when it comes to this stuff so I am kind of on my own and dont know where to start or what to look for. PLEASE HELP!!

Volunteer, take some classes at community college, go travel do something fun.
Could also try being creative with artistic things like ceramics, sculpture or even painting.

if you applied to UNC and 3 other schools and didnt get in, id suggest applying to 20+ schools this time around. if you applied to 20+ schools last cycle and didnt get in, you might need to do some drastic work.

Whats your sciGPA and DAT breakdown. How many schools did you apply too? you might just need a little bit of post bac. to bring that gpa up.

Depends on where the rest of your undergraduate courses were taken at. If it was at a bigger university, and you managed to keep A's and B's, the Admin's shouldnt care about taking more courses at CC. If you did bad at the University then took CC and did well, that will probably be a small eye opener.

I'm confused. In past posts (April 2011) you said you got accepted to out of state schools but did not go because you want to stay in-state. You were holding out for ECU and UNC because you had to stay close to home. You were criticized for applying then turning down those acceptances.

my friend was using my sdn. she got into a school out of state and decided not to go so thats her decision. i totally disagreed with her so she decided to ask on here. i wish i wouldve gotten in somewhere. i would have been estatic!

Sculpting is a good ec...but a kid who got rejected from 20 schools is not gonna get acceptances from schools the next year because he took sculpting 206 at his local college.
He was rejected because his grades were deficient or he came off as a weirdo in his interviews. Those two items should be addressed first when reapplying before you spend money to sit in front of clay 3 days a week

If money is an issue get a job (maybe at a dental office) and take 2 science classes at night. Or if your parents will support you for another year, take a full load of science classes and get A's in all of them. What did you do since the last cycle to improve your application? Did you schedule an appointment with any of the dental schools where you applied last year? They would be able to give you better advice than we can. Good luck this cycle!
This DAT breakdown makes no sense. Your TS and AA would be a 22. Are you sure you got the numbers right??

OP, to make up stories on SDN is one thing, but I hope you keep it real with yourself. You didn't get in because of your grades/DAT. Take as many science classes at a 4 year university as you can and ace them all. When filling out the application, I'd rather have nothing to say in the manual dexterity question than nothing to say in the "what have you done to improve your application" question.
