Just having one of those 'WHY AM I DOING THIS' moments, and thought I'd post a poll to see where everyone else was at. It seems like everything is happening this summer - I'm SO BUSY (but I thrive on that, so that's not the problem) working two jobs, studying for the GREs, doing research on the side...and now, on top of that, I'm going through one of the most surreal/awkward/confusing breakups ever.

I'll be fine again in a bit, just wanted to comfort myself that everyone has outside stressors and that going through this ... situation ... right now won't send me off the deep end.

Thus the qualifier of 'application stress' 😉

I'm pretty sure that even the people who are already in are stressing out, just over different things. 🙂

You are absolutely right! Western just finished their week of orientation, and my classmates and I are pretty scared to start on Monday. The PBL is going to be a huge adventure, with a lot of stress worked in!

Hmm there's no "completely in denial and planning to stay that way" option. I <heart> my coping mechanism: just PRETEND I'm not stressed out! It kinda works!

where is the option for "I'm just about ready to choke somebody" ?

haha yeah I am more stressed out now that I am in!!!

haha I always use denial when I'm super stressed or when there are problems with people (to avoid more problems of course) and people get so mad... but it works!!!

I'm super stressed.... but about other things... but I'm trying not to worry about it yet...

I'm so sorry to hear about your breakup. That must be so hard to deal with along with all your other stressors. Been there.

Just to offer another point of view for those who are applying now and may begin to wonder if the stress will ever go away for a while...

I'm so much less stressed out now than I was this time last year it's not even funny. I'm sure I'll get stressed out as school gets closer to starting (we don't begin orientation until Sept 2 and classes until Sept 8), but for now, life is pretty good. I wouldn't trade places with myself at this time last year for anything. Good luck with applications, guys!! It's a long road, but you'll make it through. 🙂

Ditto, so much less stressed. (Hah, but ask me in a few days when I'm moving cross state!)

Believe us, there is light at the end of the tunnel. There will be a day in the not so distant future when (after admissions, after the massive debt freak out, after you're done finding a new place to live, after you've put in the book order) you'll take a breath and say- this is good.

If I could talk to myself from last year, I'd say "Hey, it's all going to turn out just fine! So don't freak out and just keep on truckin" Of course I probably wouldn't have believed myself and freaked out just the same, but hey...

I'm with lailanni and VAGirl, not much stress right now. Orientation starts in a week, then class. So right now, life is pretty easy. I'd say I'm more intimidated than anything, but that comes with any new adventure! Those of you that are in the application process, take time away from it! Don't let it consume you, do a little bit at a time. It'll get done, and it will be fantastic! 😀👍

Stress is CRAZY for me right now ... orientation starts Monday. My list is unbelievably huge for what I have to get done before I leave in a few days and drive 9 hours there with all of our stuff, a dog, two cats, and a horse. EEK! 🙂 Mine is WAY worse than during the application process. And I do mean WAY worse!

I'm totally in the "yes I'm in, but I'm still stressed" boat. I'm leaving in 2 weeks, and I feel alright now, but in about a week I am going to really start feeling the stress!🙄

Im surprised Im not more stressed. Maybe Im the denial phase. I also havent even started my supplemental apps, which is one of my major stressors. Right now I have GRE on the brain, so everything is taking a back seat. Without a good score seems pointless to worry about the other stuff. Check back with me again in January and I will look totally different. 😱:scared:😱:scared:😱:scared:

I'm in the calm as a cucumber but check back in a week (when classes have started again) boat.
