Hi,

By what month should a person apply for an NHSC or HPSP scholarship? Are they so competitive that you should apply asap? Or are some branches less competitive and relatively easy to get?

Thanks for your input!

I can not speak about the NHSC but get started on HPSP ASAP if interested. There are so many things that can go wrong and eat up time when submitting an application. If interested then start reaching out to recruiters. Be as proactive and persistent as possible.

I think Air Force has the smallest number of scholarships and Army has the most but am not sure.

HPSP should be applied to before acceptance (as was said above, ASAP) so that all they have to do is finalize/verify things when you get your official acceptance. NHSC can be your back up if you are interested in either/or because you can’t even apply to that one until you have been accepted. The application also doesn’t open until March/April just prior to matriculation and you won’t find out if you got it until after school starts.
