General Admissions & OTCAS Who have you heard back from? 2020-2021 Cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats on your acceptance! I have my interview with Salus later this week. Do you have any tips? How was the open-file vs. closed-file?
hey I did my faculty Salus interview last week and have my admissions interview this week! The interview with a faculty member was super chill, she mostly asked about my shadowing experience and why I was interested in OT. It lasted about 20 min

I emailed the administrative assistant, Emily, yesterday and she never got back to me. It’s kind of strange because every time I’ve emailed her, she has responded in less than an hour. But hopefully she gets back to me today and I will let you know!

ok awesome, thanks so much for reaching out to them!

Thank you so much!! Good luck!! I found the interview to be pretty easy and simple, with all questions that I would expect to be asked at an OT school interview ("What is OT," "What is the difference between PT and OT," "Why do you want to go into OT," "How do you handle stress," "Why this program specifically/what does Salus have that other's don't"), especially as opposed to some interviews that seem to ask super specific or curveball questions. So I think as long as you just prepare and practice answers for questions like those, you will do great! Those questions were almost all asked during the closed-file interview. My open-file interview was really short and casual, where they basically just asked me about specific things on my resume or how specific classes that I am taking this semester are going, so I don't think there is much you need to do to prepare for that!

I hope this helped!! The faculty during both interviews were super kind and genuine!

Hi! Yes the interview actually went great and it was really fun. It was 3 applicants with one staff member and we got a chance to kind of talk and introduce ourselves. But the staff member carefully goes through your resume and application and tailors questions exactly to your experience so everyone’s questions are different. I answered 3-4 questions specifically about me and my previous experiences! Hope this helps!

Hi! Has anyone applied to the CSU Dominguez Hills program in CA? If so, have you heard back?

Hi! I heard some people got an acceptance email from Tufts this morning, but was wondering if anyone else who applied to Tufts received a rejection? I'm still clinging onto the hope that there might be another wave of acceptance emails, or at least a concrete rejection (Tufts is my #1 choice so this waiting in limbo is killing me!!) Thanks! And congrats to those who got in!

I haven't received an email or a rejection! However, I'm not 100% sure that my application was processed by the due date haha. Fingers crossed :)

Congrats on your acceptances! Are you going to continue with interviews? How long are schools typically giving you to decide?

No, I think I am done with interviews. Schools give anywhere between 3-6 weeks to give them answers. I pretty set on going to Jefferson.

The only interview that I did had a writing portion was Chatham. I am not sure if I got in or not but it was a short prompt. Remember to answer the questions that they are asking and not go off on a tangent. Also, check your grammar and always proofread before you submit.

Has anyone heard back from Ohio State about an interview yet? I know in previous years they had sent out all of their invites by now...I don’t know of anyone that has heard from them yet. Let me know!!

Hi! I'm still waiting to hear back too. I applied back in August and other than getting the supplemental application from them after that, I haven't heard anything else. Hopefully we hear back soon!

What was Moravian's interview like?
Hi there! I interviewed with Moravian about 2 weeks ago. It was 20 minutes with a professor. 10 minutes were dedicated to her asking me questions (pretty standard questions) and there were 10 minutes for me to ask about the program.

The interview was very laid back and relaxed, my interviewer made sure to let me know it was just a conversation at the start and not to be too stressed. It was only with one of the professors from the program and mine honestly only took about 15 minutes (it was allotted to take 20). They asked standard interview questions, nothing was unexpected. Good luck!

Omg thank you so much!! Would you mind giving examples of some of the questions? This is my first interview so I really have no idea what to expect. Thank you!!!!

There were definitely things such as why OT, what makes you interested in OT, what is a characteristic you have that an OT would need to have, why Moravian and I believe I was asked about leadership skills as well. Hopefully that helps!
