General Admissions & OTCAS Who have you heard back from? 2020-2021 Cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hi everyone! I have been accepted to several MOT and OTD programs and have narrowed it down to Temple University's MOT program and Quinnipiac's OTD program. I'm having a really hard time deciding between these programs. I am still torn between masters vs doctorate because I'm not 100% sure how much I enjoy doing/want to be involved in research and a whole project/capstone about it - I feel that I will prefer more clinical experience over research... At the moment, I definitely want to practice for several years as a clinician and then I would say my "dream job" is something like a Director of Rehabilitation Services either in a hospital or for a company. If anyone has any advice, thoughts, or anything about either school/program or MOT vs OTD, I would love any feedback or words of wisdom!!

If anyone has applied to the same schools and has heard back please let me know! I only applied to schools that don't require the GRE since I am terrible at standardized testing and don't feel its a good represntation of my academics. So would also love to find more programs that aren't considering scores 🙂
I had an interview with Samuel Merritt and was accepted!

To anyone who applied to temple program, how long did it take for you to receive an interview? Getting nervous because I was accepted for wideners program but turned it down because that wasn’t my first pick, now I’m waitlist at one school and most likely will be waitlisted at another since some students already have been accepted 😫

If you dont mind, what is your top choice out of your acceptances?

Anyone else still waiting to hear back from the first round of Boston University interviews? I saw earlier in this thread that we were supposed to hear today, but I still haven’t gotten anything!

Right now it's Thomas Jefferson! I have heard wonderful things about their facilities and their faculty, and I really enjoy the location of it (close-ish to home and being in Center City). I really wish Temple's was an OTD program (although they're planning to convert for fall 2022) so that's my main con about it, and also the location is not necessarily in the heart of the city like Jefferson is. But I LOVE Temple's faculty, they just seem SO so nice and kind, and I also do love their program and its public health lens. For Tufts, I really enjoyed their vibes and I felt very welcomed by them throughout the whole process, but when I went to go see the campus I was very turned off by the surroundings, it just seemed very depressing. Don't get me wrong, their undergrad campus is beautiful, but the OT building is like a mile from the campus in a weird place and I felt like I couldn't live in Medford for 3 years because what I saw immediately around campus was not attractive to me. I did already put a deposit down at Jefferson but I'm waiting to see about BU. I had an early decision interview and I thought they were supposed to email us today about decisions but I didn't get anything 🙁

Same! The admissions rep said "around December 18" and I was literally nervous all day and nothing came in. I feel like now we're going to have to wait till Monday and I hate the suspense 🙁

Oh I know, I’ve been checking my email and this page literally all day! I feel like we’ll have to find out either Monday or Tuesday the latest because of the holidays.
I also saw on their admissions FAQs that early decision letters will be sent out before the winter break, and the BU academic calendar looks like there are still finals tomorrow.

So either way it should be any day now, glad I’m not the only one haha! Best of luck!!

Has anyone declined an acceptance because you haven't heard back from the schools you really wanted to go to? I declined my one offer but then two days later received an email saying I was waitlisted at one school and have to wait until late January to hear back from the second school I want to go to!! I hate waiting so long, getting extremely anxious and feel like I made a mistake now :/

You can always accept and put a non-refundable deposit down to save your seat, and then tell them you won’t be attending later. I’ve had to do that for every school so far until I hear back from my top choice. I would start doing that!

I will probably do that if I get accepted into one of the programs I applied to, I should've before just so I don't have all the stress on my shoulders now!!

The exact same thing happened to me and I’ve been a little stressed out but I’m just hoping to hear good news from other programs.

You can always apply to additional programs before it’s too late.

Again SAME lol and Towson or Advent health in Orlando. How about you?

Thank you! Congrats on the interview, it is super low-key and fast. No longer than 10 minutes! All interviewees are asked the same 5 questions, classic interview questions and two situational.
Thanks for the help! Thats reassuring its not too intimidating 🙂
